- Bongwater was a psych rock band formed in 1985 and dissolved in 1992. The group was founded by Ann Magnuson and Mark Kramer (who was also the founder of the Shimmy Disc record label), who had worked together previously in Pulsallama. The group also featured drummer David Licht and guitarists Dave Rick and later Randolph A. Hudson III. Guests included Fred Frith, Peter Stampfel and Fred Schneider
She is so incredibly underrated. I love her.
Fist saw her on a sitcom and THAT was damn good
For claritys sake, the song is absolutely a cover of Roky Erickson. Ann Magnuson makes numerous references to Robert Plant and Zeppelin on the Bongwater album Double Bummer during intros to numerous covers. She was an actress and a performance artist extraordinaire and that groupie persona was an integral part of Bongwater live and in the studio recordings. ALso worthy of mention here are the underrated Pussywilows singing backup featuring a young April March. Bongwater would go on to record the follow up to Double Bummer , titled the Power of Pussy. I'd like to think that was in part a tribute to them but that's not the case.
Screaming Jay Hawkins gives way to Bongwater, wow what a feast for the funsters.
She is Bongwater. The name of the band is Bongwater.
I love country music. This is great !
This gives me life
Thanks for posting this.
'Clear and Present Danger' brought me here. Very versatile lady. She played the mousy Moira in that movie - getting her neck snapped by Joaquim de Almeida in the process.
So strange so cool!
LOVE BONGWATER
It's a tribute to Roky Erickson, not Robert Plant
Part of the performance is cut off, including an intro where the band plays Four Sticks. The monologues at the front (cut off) and back end are about Robert Plant. In the bit, she's singing "You Don't Love me Yet" to Robert Plant.
The song is literally from "Where The Pyramid Meets The Eye" which was a Roky Erickson tribute album. Yes, Ann Magnuson liked to add Robert Plant references to her music but calling this a tribute to him is a stretch.
Indeed
@@christophermoore8524 thank you
