Looks tidy, we would have to dig footing for brickwork, wouldn’t be allowed to use angle or steel.!! Nor would we be allowed to use mortar under the steel/ padstone, either slate or steel shims… it’s bizarre how things are different up and down the country.. HNY to you both
Apart from the skillset shown in these videos, it is just great to see father and son working together and obviously respecting each other capabilities. I am not sure when this vid was put together but I am watching it early in 2023, so Happy New Year to you both.
Builders who buy at auction to flip, want maximum profit - skip hire a waste of money, so they employ roofers that leave old roof (slate, old felt and batten) in attic space, then cover with insulation so on first glance it looks ok - wall knocked through expect to find it between floorboards or under freshly turfed garden
Another cracking upload by Steve and Alex getting through so much different jobs to a high standard from tidy facing brickwork to form new window with all the correct weep vents dpc and wall ties to also installing concrete lintels and good explanation to people wondering what engineering bricks are. Also showing how to maximise your skip use 😂 thanks for the upload guys 👏
I have found numerous hidey holes with the previous "contractor" rubble in. Would you believe I once found tubes of caulk and bottle of white spirit in one top floor flat I refurbed all hidden behind plasterboard tacked up in roof space. We also found a bulging ceiling with all sorts of crap above, due to fall at any time. Best Wishes from The West Country.... Bob.
Happy new year guys. As you like going the extra, when you have a brick or two to an end when infilling like here, rake out the mortar of the remaining few bricks and repoint with the same mortar you infilled with. Gives an excellent finish.
Hi Steve & Alex. That was a nice job you guys did there. A lot off hard graft and clean up. Always look tidy when done. More demolition on this job then building. I like it well done guys. Happy new year 👍
Nice job all round guys. I know you were glad that was done and dusted 🤔 Meanwhile back in the locality all those bad lintels have been quietly rusting away and im sure will be awaiting your expertise soon. 😂

Good job guys nice craftsmanship 👍 I get the weep vents on the cavity tray, but why the air bricks below , what's the reason behind that? (Not criticism, just want to understand and learn) Very nice tidy finish well done 👍✅
Another nice video boys, i will have to watch again though, i didn't catch how the DPM, the drip tray and the two air vents worked, only asking as i might have the same issue. thanks again boys.
Wowser! There you go again - such attention to detail from you two - that's the difference between 'That'll do' and 'Great job guys!'. Thanks fellas and a belated 'Happy New Year' to you and yours.
I was watching AKF builders today where he said a vertical damp is nonsense. I personally se sense in it. What’s your opinion? I believe you showed a very good demonstration with some concrete blocks back in the summer. Could you possibly show this again and speak on vertical damp?
Plasterboard in your mixed building materials skip - not permitted in the South East...!! Has to be separated - in fact almost no skip companies will take it, without charging an arm and leg on-top of the normal costs...only place that will take it is the Council Waste Site...so has to go in the car to the Council Waste Site...

WHAT. NO. HIGH LOAD. TRAY. DAMP !! asking for problems
Used high load once in 1988 😆. It’s bitumen based so will dry and crack eventually. PVC all day long 🧱👍🏽
is the floor inside the garage going tom be raised?
It is Stu and insulated 🧱👍🏽
Whats the purpose of the single leaf lintel at ground level?
To avoid digging down and putting a foundation in . It spans from pillar to pillar and takes the load off the concrete 🧱👍🏽
What’s the idea in the lintel under the first coarse of bricks where the garage door was? Never seen that done before so just curious
Was wondering that myself
It’s to spread the load of the brickwork to save digging down 🧱👍🏽

The concrete floor . They are Fibolite blocks so very little weight
