Hey there, Thad, You teach well and you engage your viewers. I am new to acrylics, want to paint abstracts and need to learn the basics about this medium. I've learned a lot about glazing just from watching your video. I hope you make more of these. Your relaxed approach is very inviting to someone just starting out. You're encouraging and optimistic. A great "Can Do." We need more instruction from artists like you on UA-cam..........Kudos!
Well, I thought the criticisms were not really relevant as I could read the labels and hear you and also the music. I liked it. I learned a step or two. I like your atttitude and feel you are giving free help. I have been painting almost 70 years. I thank you.
It's not good to let the background music play in your tutorials because there are sections of the video that we can not hear what you are saying because the music is louder than you and it's a distraction too. Otherwise-nice job on your painting!
I really like your painting, it has an industrial feel to it. I loved the highlights (lowlights?) you created with glazes, I've never used them for anything so subtle. It would have been nice to see a before and after pic. One thing I cringed at was your alternative to the palette knife - why not a popsicle stick?? cheap metal or plastic putty knife? You got paint in the brush's ferrule and almost half the glaze was wasted in the brush. Other than that, awesome!
I noticed the paper you used to mix your glazes didn't absorb the paint at all, so you got the most bang for your buck. What kind of paper is that? Wax? Do you use that for out-of-the-tube paint too? or just glazes?
yes it is a wax paper.. they make excellent disposable palettes for stuff like this. you can use them for everything.. out of the tube, mixed and glazes
I love your paintings! I have an important question: I used glaze varnish over my acrylic painting. I only let it dry for half an hour and used a brush to apply the glaze. It looks like glaze in patches now. How do I fix it now? Please advise.
ok what i think is going on is that you have some things in the painting that are matte (flat) and parts that have a glossy finish so it looks off. what i suggest if that is the case is to varnish the whole piece with wither a gloss or matte varnish to unify the whole piece together and see if that helps at all.... thank you for stopping by and asking me a question, iI really hope that helps you out, be free to ask me more questions in the future
do you varnish after glazing? while painting did you use any medium (gloss/matt) with the acrylic? if we use gloss as a medium , then glaze, then varnish, does it make the painting too glossy? I'm new to acrylics and want to know few things before i actually purchase all these mediums. any suggestions are welcome. thanks!
varnish after glazing... after the whole painting is complete and dry. if the painting is to glossy or Matt at the end of the painting process you varnish it to your desired effect (matt, gloss, simi-gloss) its all up to you
Oh my gosh, I don't agree that 'Golden is a quality paint'. To me that is a cheap paint.Would you not prefer something like 'Liquitex'.? Just a Thought.!
agree. can't stand the Golden glaze. When I ran out of my liquitex one, I thought the Golden would be just as good. Boy was I wrong. Their paints are fine, but I'll never buy another Golden glaze.

I love using thin transparent glazes like this....great video : )
That is very helpful! I love it because it's a layering process. I didn't know how to do that with acrylic.

Glazing 'AN' acrylic painting.
THANK YOU!!
Hi Thad, I tried to subscribe to your channel but youTube said "user not found"!?
Thank you!
I was unable to see the color change at all; better lighting or at least a final calibrated close up would have been nice!

Herbalistics 9 what???
It is far from cheap in Europe!

too much movement and hard to understand you stop throwing the paints around
Too much hand movement when you're showing the containers! Couldn't read any of the labels. Stopped watching.
