Pre-med student, she just threw her whole life away.
@@Native722 good. I can’t imagine she would have been any more conscientious as a doctor.
she had no life if she was willing to drive drunk and speeding. she should be in jail for at least 10 years
Post - med student now.
Nevermind the victim's just reinforces your belief that she should be lamenting her own future, while disregarding the fact she killed two people. I guess her med career is more important than their lives. This mentality is why we in America only think of ourselves.

Automated driving is not a good thing I don't care what anybody says it's your insurance, your vehicle, your responsibility....
People who need or depend on these self driving shouldn’t be driving. Go take an Uber or taxi for sake.
Agreed
For sake? Liquor is what got her in trouble in the first place. Rice alcohol isn't going to make it better.
Some of these raci cars are self driving too. Waymo for example
I really don’t get why people want a self driving car. Okay maybe it’s fine for empty streets at night or something but I’d rather be in control of my car at all times.
@@kingof206 My cousins mom has Epileptic Seizures, so any abrupt sounds, or flashing lights, or even surprises can cause her to have one. She agreed to get my Cousin off child support if he bought her a new car and put the hands free feature in it, because when the cops or fire truck suddenly drive by and flash their lights it can set her condition off. The hands free feature is so if she hears it or knows she could possibly have a seizure she won’t crash into another car. That’s what the feature is intended for, it’s intended for if you have a medical emergency or some reason you can’t drive at the moment. But it’s not for driving drunk or intoxicated
These hands-free features are stupid, a car either drives itself or it doesn't. There is no in between.
@@stuwest3653well to be fair. That sounds similar to just "driving"
Stupid is right, all it does is aid incompetence, not to mention the ever growing "infotainment" console slapped into ever car now is just a distraction.
No car drives itself. That’s a fact
@@motive7475except those that are driverless
@@motive7475that’s definitely not true lol
Why is it called “ hands free “?
Because calling it "self driving" or "automated" kind of implies that you can get away with stuff like this.
If it's just "hands free" then it implies that the driver is fully responsible and should be in control.
Sue ford for that just like Tesla, it says Hands free!
@@jackchen5264My cousin has one in his car it’s about 8K, and they specifically tell you when you buy it that your still not allowed to use the hands free feature intoxicated you get a 3 strike system for everytime the sensors notice your not responding and after 3 strikes you lose the privilege.
You get a pair of new hands with the purchase

It is Ford's fault. "Corporations are people too my friend" R. Money 2012 Presidential campaign.
Nope, she's going to become a victim by saying how she was under so much stress from her school work that it was abusive.
Well what she did wasn’t right . But at the same time she should blame Ford. It could happen to anyone sober or not
@@dav34 They literally tell you when you buy it that if your under the influence while using the Hands Free feature it still counts as a DUI. Do you guys think marketing hasn’t thought of this already? It’s not really Hands Free it’s more of self driving. Those features still require you to have your hands on the wheel and will check if your still conscious. It’s not for leisure it’s for emergencies. It’s still in a phase of development. So she can sue Ford if she wants to but all they are gonna do is pull out the 5 different contracts she agreed to when she bought the car and the feature telling her that whatever happens she is still and personally liable
As she should, or the families of the dead should. If a person were drunk and got into a taxi that got in a collision, the taxi driver would be at fault. The car makers implicitly claim they’re capable of things they aren’t in order to make sales. The car maker’s claim is literally killing people, considering that they’d make other choices if not for the claimed feature, be it not driving at all or at least trying to drive, hands on the wheel etc.
This is why never trust the auto hand free mode RIP my condolences to the families 😢
All these “self driving” features should be against the law. People are too stupid to even park, let alone be trusted to use these features that don’t even work right.
Yes, and invest in a robust public transportation system. Much safer, cheaper, efficient and environmentally friendly
With your way of thinking, we would all still be in the stone age!
mustang is not a true handsfree driving like tesla. it's a just an enhanced cruise control, so it only stops/slows for cars not pedestrians.
if your assertion is that the deaths are caused by stupidity isnt the driving part the most dangerous part and thus less deaths would occur if that part was automated instead?

"Self driving " is only for the dumbest of the dumb.
She gambled it would work and is going to pay A BIG PRICE because it didn't.
She wasn’t focusing on the road and speeding
must have been a Tesla lol.
She was heard saying to herself after the crash that she would never use that feature again…
I am relieved that she will no longer become a doctor . Unfortunately, 95% doctors exhibit arrogance and narcissistic attitude that often undermine the core values of compassion and care in the profession. Given her reckless behavior, it’s concerning to think about how such attitudes might have been amplified if she had become a doctor. The medical field requires individuals with integrity, responsibility, and empathy, and it’s clear that her actions reflect a lack of those essential qualities.
Lots of them cheat in college too
A pre-med student... doing that... wow
Education =\= intelligence
Majority of college students or graduates don't have common sense or moral values.
Doing what?
What do you call a doctor who graduates at the bottom of their class?
Doctor.
Its weird that they tell you to stay inside the car when it breaks down, i got out because i was scared a truck would hit me
"Hands free" mode is the dumbest feature ever conceived.
Ford blue cruise should be put behind bars.
It was the one driving the car.
How about she goes to prison…..AND Ford discontinues this feature. But we know this won’t happen, because then you’d be looking at every other car maker that sells cars in the USA.
Both are to blame. Sounds like, if you use blue cruise and set it, you will still be in danger bc it WILL HIT STATIONARY OBJECTS.
So its actually even more dangerous than manual driving.!

Obviously she didn't disable the crowd killer feature.
So what happened to blaming the person not the gun?
Oh it this case the “gun” is a lane correcting car so you don’t like it and that’s what’s at fault not the DRUNK DRIVER.
Every new car has this feature. It’s not meant to be 100% full proof.

If she wasn't intoxicated, I wonder if the victims would have some kind of lawsuit.
This is a combination of driver (drunk) error, and a defect in a Ford product.
Regardless of the outcome the matter will be resolved in court, dimwit.
@@geoffh1 no, the court is guilty until proven innocent. The burden of proof will fall on her lawyer to prove her innocence, which they will 100 percent lose, and easy slam dunk case for the prosecution.
Whoever designed these cars are the ones that are reasonable and the IDT behind the wheel.
Ford should be charged too tbf. I know this will really happen at this stage of FSD development and that it is needed sadly and unfairly for it to progress but they need to pay at least a fine everytime it does.
How if it clearly says you need to be aware and paying attention in order to even use the feature… never said to fall asleep behind the wheel 😂
They never claimed it was FSD and in the fine print you probably agree to be attentive and sober behind the wheel
Don't know why she was intoxicated, but for all the premeds and med students out there - you only have one life. Yes, medicine can be a stressful journey, but even if you are feeling burned out, stressed, or sad, DO NOT resort to substances in an attempt to temporarily take away your pain. It is not worth putting your life and the lives of others at risk. Substance use including alcohol should be something that all those in medicine should be shunning, and not promoting. Practice what you preach. Doctors preach against alcohol and substance consumption, so do you best to follow that advice as well. There are many ways to cope with stress that don't involve putting people including yourself in harms way. It is saddening to see a young premed and Asian as that in this situation. Indian culture/Hinduism forbids the consumption of alcohol and substances and encourages a healthy lifestyle centered on respect for others, treating one's body as a temple, kindness, peacefulness, and love. Perhaps she may not have been devout who knows...regardless, it's suprising that someone of Indian descent did this - quite uncommon and saddening indeed. I think this is also why it's important to stay close to ones roots and practice traditions that teach us of good morals/values and encourages healthy lifestyles and coping mechanisms. So things like this don't happen.
All the staff I ever seen last two decades look chill or might get lit, but idk
depending on a self driving car going 70 miles per hour whether your intoxicated or not is the funniest thing ive ever heard🤣🤣🤣
Sounds like the vehicle manufacturer has some responsibility as well.
Big one...
Yea this is not going to work.
Fo sure, every vehicle lock you out if you’re intoxicated let alone drive you hands free when it’s not reliable.
Nope
Good luck with that one. She’s going to prison.
And they say marijuana is dangerous
So is alcohol under influence
Marijuana is dangerous when driving. Were you high when writing your comment?
I just hope you were not high, driving, and commenting on a website
Both are dangerous
That's ironic my mother was killed this month 5 years ago by a pre-med student who was i think cna and failed to yield while texting.. thought they were supposed to save lives..
it’s seems like they give you features you can’t use if you need them
OK, but you're still drunk..... you should not be behind the wheel even if it's driving by itself
Ok but even if she was sober as a judge, how did a self driving car run over 2 people at 70mph?
They should call it "hands sometimes" mode
Your honor my client wasnt driving the self driving technology was😂😂 this tech is being used by the intoxicated 😢
Exactly. She’s going to prison. It’s against the law to get behind the wheel while drunk, let alone put your car in drive assistance/autopilot while intoxicated. Very poor choice she made. People get arrested all the time while SLEEPING with their Tesla on autopilot. It’s a serious violation of public trust. There are certain things in life that as an adult, you are responsible for your actions. This is one of them.
RIP, guys.

@tonyterry6631 Please don't vote.
SAD. Driving drunk is so common with college kids.
There are some automotive 'innovations' that are rubbish. Allowing your car to drive itself while you sleep in the seat is one of those senseless, dangerous innovations. Good examples of automotive innovations include 1) safety glass windshields, 2) power steering, 3) disc brakes, 4) fuel injection, 5) seat belts.
Ford: "After a careful internal analysis we did not find any flaws with our self driving technology and we assume no fault for the incident that occurred in Philadelphia".

That’s pretty heartbreaking
Car companies should be sued big for this false advertising. I know she was drunk, but this wouldn’t have happened were it not for a misleading feature. I’m not even big on suing companies in most cases.
Standing in the left lane of a highway at 3:30am is not smart

According to the ad, the only reason the car strayed out of the lane is if she did something like turn the steering wheel. Her defense will have to prove it malfunctioned. BUT she still should be accountable because she could have stopped the car. It wasn't like the car held her hostage!
In the USA we care more about enforcing emissions than driving regulations.
Stupid law , self driving car doesn’t get blame but auto pilot getting blame and charging as crime
The public never gave consent to allow self driving cars on public roads. Instead of that technology, it would be better if all new cars had a way to detect hazardous blood alcohol levels and not allow the car to be driven at all if the driver is impaired.
She will be getting 20+ years in jail time. other women who Killed 3 cops while intoxicated will get 27 year minimum
I’m not gonna trust those self driving cars for another 7yrs
I’m beginning to believe that self driving cars and/or features should be banned. It’s way too risky in the wrong hands. Companies should also be held liable when events like this occur. Their marketing of these features are often misleading.

Let's say she wasn't Drunk! would it still be her Fault?. They said the Casino machine! Malfunctioned! I don't get the 3 Million!.
Yes, because self driving means your are still required to pay attention to the road and take control of the feature malfunctions.
Whats is really disturbing is the government and highway departments even allow this foolish technology on the roads like a self driving tesla 😳 a piece of machinery that moves must always have a aware human driver.
You mean to tell me that when these "Self-Driving" vehicles are involved in Fatal Crashes the blame isn't on the Programmer or Company but the Driver?
Never saw that coming...
NOT!!!
What next an automated Electric Bike???
Humans are regressing 😮
Gonna be given probation and 40 hours of community service guaranteed. Look how much emphasis on the vehicle itself.
If the point of hands free isn't to be able to to be... hands free, what's the point? Isn't that misleading? If I'm told I can FREE my HANDS and then something like this happens, then I guess I was lied to.
Autonomous driving should be illegal. If you don't have the attention span or capability to focus and concentrate while driving you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a vehicle at all.
This will be interesting to see how the lawyers fight this out
Ms Patel should not be charged. This was an accident that snowballed out of control. Ford is responsible because the car was in hands free mode. Also, the victims had extremely poor peripheral vision.
Ford will be sued as well
Why would ford be sued
If I’m drinking I just call an Uber. Pretty simple
But the crappy uber drivers keep spilling my drink.
So if she wasnt drunk, would this still have happened?
People need to understand that there is no such thing as “hands free driving” there’s others on the road that don’t abide by the computers rules so collisions are inevitable
Mustang is just really hungry for pedestrians
So the self driving feature failed and killed two people. Who is really to blame here?
Who sold this to her, who made a malfunctioning vehicle
When is Tesla/ford going to be held responsible ? Can’t they simply remove this feature from their cars? The public obviously doesn’t have the maturity to handle this technology
I don’t trust mine sober! Shouldn’t be available yet
What is the law around hands free? The auto mfg should be liable as well unless "hands free" is a lie.
Ford should be held accountable..
Cruise control is just meant to reduce input, you still need to actually pay attention
It’s so sad for everyone involved. She just ruined her career and life over something stupid.
Well well well, the same people always driving drunk
Your parents?
Even if she was not drinking what difference would it have made? 70 MPH that car is hitting whatever before it's gonna hit
the side of the highway is so dangerous .
Even if i drove a car with a self driving feature i would never ever use it. I'm too old fashioned. My brain will forever be stuck in the 90's and early 2000's.
I keep my 2011 Dodge on the road for this exact reason, I don't want any of the drive assist idiocy in my car.
Technically the car was driving not her. So Ford should be sued. Although she could be fined for inaction by not taking control when the car failed on its own.
