Please do yourself a favor and listen to their whole catalogue. For best experience, do like I did and start with live videos. The aesthetic and _feeling_ they have live is what hooked me.
@@RachelfGuitar Yup. I'm a relatively new fan of theirs. My son saw them in Greece in 2012 when they played back up Candlemass and I think in 2019 when they backed up for Metallica in Prague. He hopped on the plane as soon as he finished his military service. It would be great to see more covers of theirs like "He Is" and many many more.
Oh, and since you asked our favorite, I've had time to think, and I'm gonna choose Darkness At the Heart of My Love. I love the flow. The starts and stops are fantastic.

Learning by ear definitely takes a lot of time and to speed things up I still usually learn through a combination of ear and watching lessons/covers. Also, for the sake of not having a super long video what you are seeing here is a condensed version of my practice session!

Learning by ear is a great way to learn music. I had a listen to the song, and I think there is an easier way to play that line at end using pull offs. I can make a video in the next couple days showing how I played it if you would like.
I have a couple Ghost vinyl albums and a couple Nightwish ones as well! I don't actually have a record player though, I just like getting them to support the band and for display :)
I haven't had the chance to try out either of those brands, but totally open to it in the future! Would love to try out as many types of guitars as I can :)
@@RachelfGuitar I have several Jackson guitars and several EVH guitars and an Ibanez electric acoustic I have a very expensive Jackson Adrian Smith Signature USA and I Prefer my EVH Wolfgang Specials.

We skipped their set at the Maiden show because theyre too dark. Then we watched Maiden with a giant inflatable Lucifer on stage during number of the beast. I dont know what we were trying to prove😂😂. Thanks for teaching me Miserlou😁❤
It's something that I have been working on slowly over time! When I first started out I was not learning this way and to speed things up I still now usually learn songs through a combination of learning by ear and watching covers/lesson videos. As I mentioned in the video it's really just a lot of trial and error and over time with practice it starts to become easier! I think one thing that has helped me improve at this is to try to figure out vocal melodies from songs on guitar.

I know I'm going to try and throw a spanner in the works here Rachel, but would be be willing to do a "learning Metallica - Orion" video in future ? :) Are you using Helix style patches, with Impulse Responses, as your Ghost tone sounded really damn close in the video :) If so, don't you find that IRs are just the coolest thing to tip your tone over the edge and REALLY sound awesome, rather than just a stand-alone patch ? I love IRs
We have come a long way since I was in my bedroom with my boom box trying to learn a song from cassette. Play, stop, rewind, stop, play, went too far, fast forward a bit, play, stop, rewind............

Definitely open to more Metallica :). I'm actually using Bias FX 2 here for my tones! I haven't experimented with IRs yet, but that sounds awesome!
