  • Piano Concerto No. 08 by the prolific and influential composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart baptismal name Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era.
Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, Mozart composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17, Mozart was engaged as a court musician in Salzburg, but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position, always composing abundantly. While visiting Vienna in 1781, Mozart was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, Mozart composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his death. The circumstances of Mozart's early death have been much mythologized. Mozart was survived by his wife Constanze and two sons. (Wikipedia)

It takes youthful mental strength to swing from listening modern music to classical.

I'm learning the first movement right now and it's a challenging, but amazing concerto.

Why are the early Mozart piano concertos so rarely played despite their exquisitive clarity and mindfulness?

I agree - it isn't impossible. I, for example, love both heavy metal and classical music, and also sometimes I've got a mood to listen to one or two SnoopDogg's songs...

do yourselves a favour and listen to Alma Deutscher's performance of the first movement (on you.tube). She was just 10 years old when she performed it and she wrote her own cadenza. I think it leaves this version in the shade.

Very prosaic performance - there is no proper phrasing of the runs. Listen to Alma Deutscher's first movement - its no contest. Regrettably she hasn't recorded the other movements.

To me it sounds like the piano is a bit out of tune. Try to listen to Alma Deutscher version. She`s not in such a hurry.
