- Piano Concerto No. 5 in D major, K. 175, was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1773, at the age of 17. It is Mozart's first fully original piano concerto; his previous efforts were based on works by other composers. The work is scored for two oboes, two horns, two trumpets, timpani, and strings and was the only concerto with trumpets and timpani until No. 13, K. 415.
Note that only the first and last movements contain parts for trumpets and timpani. The three movements of the concerto are listed as follows:
1. Allegro
2. Andante ma un poco adagio
3. Rondo: Allegro
Unfolding with two whole notes, Mozart tackles a problem in the finale -- how to introduce contrapuntal elements in a sonata form movement -- that he was to revisit several more times. Mozart later composed a more tuneful rondo finale for this concerto, thinking it would be more popular with the Viennese audience than the original third movement. (Rondo in D, K. 382)
This concerto was a favorite of Mozart's and is mentioned in many of his letters. He played the piece at concerts until the year of his death.

ENJOY!!!! :D
I couldn't live in a world without Mozart.
Do you play?
Yes I'm a Cellist and orchestral musician.
You make me shy HAHAHAHAHA
Правда
You could. There's other composers
So beautiful...how can we live without such a beauty of Mozart´s music ! No way!
It bubbles along - a delightful, energetic piece, how could some people not like it?
Absolutely divine. Only 17 years and he was well on his way to recreating the human heart and the way it hears sound.
Love this #5 . Half tone faster and higher but all the same beautiful. It draws energy & emotional feeling from and to our very soul. Mozart's finest composition, it was a favorite of Mozart's and is mentioned many times by himself even in written statements. Among dozens at same level (vg # 17, 21..) from Mozart's unique genius still and forever very much alive.
From the days in which there were no Internet, no cellphones, no TVs, no cars, not even fridges.
But there was an unbelievably amazing music.
16:47 Rondo: Fugal Allegro
And so, at 17, after four warm-ups, starting at around age 11 (and the 4th one is damned close to being this good) he comes into his own, and raises the bar for everyone that follows.
The word "genius" almost trivializes this.
At last, been looking for this for ages. Brilliant concerto and the Allegro (Rondo) 16:45 is fantastic!
Sublime! The second movement melts into your being.
Definitely one of my favorite of his (many) piano concertos.
Mine is Concerto 21 2nd movement - The most beautiful piece of music ever written (in my humble opinion!) lol
This is music, witch can clean me! When i listen to this music, i am not in this planet! Mozart was human witch never will born!
Which, not witch. A witch is a mythical wicked woman
Not always . . .
age of 17... Genius!
Lmao he was literally an adult. 17 is very young? I don't think so
@Wolfie bruhh.. Soooo??? Pretty much ANY 17 year old could do that if they had a father like that and studied music professionally since the age of 5.
@Wolfie and no, he was a major
Such deep sensitivity in part two.... Beautiful.
Hello, I am fairly sure that this recording is Sir Neville Marriner (conductor), conducting The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, with pianist Alfred Brendel.
There is a great CD collection called "Mozart Piano Concertos: Complete Mozart Edition". It is a boxed set of 12 discs, including all of Mozart's piano concertos, and is performed by the artists mentioned above. In my opinion, it is one of the best recordings of the piano concertos; it is just superb!
You're absolutely right! It was originally released on Philips as a 13-LP box set, then later on Philips Classics in different volumes, then in 1991 as a 12 CD box set as Volume 7 of the infamous Complete Mozart Edition. It includes Ingrid Haebler, with the Capella Academica Wien for the piano concertos nos. 1-4, and Ton Koopman with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra for the 3 Harpsichord Concertos after J.C. Bach, K. 107. The set was later released in 2000 for the Complete Mozart Compact Edition as Box No. 4, and finally in 2011 as a 12 CD deluxe box set on Decca Classics.
I'm 14 and I absolutely love classical music especially Mozart's and Beethoven's. It also sounds good when all you have to hear in the radio and TV are pop music.
Now you are 20 years old 😉
@@antonioashkar8895 21 actually. Can't even remember making this comment lmao
@@SevenMilliFrog now i make you remember it since 6 years 😂 😂 😂

You are not the only one in this situation.

Not bad for 16 years old...This would be a supreme achievement for an amateur musician after studying music for 40 years!
many famous composers never reached this level - let alone amateurs. No need to mention Mozart's age here - it is better than some of his later piano concertos.
@@LPCLASSICAL 100% I think it's actually better than most of his later piano concerto's.
I dont know why mabey because he had a bigger time gap to work on this (6ish years since his last piano concerto) and so he put more effort into this one or that this was his 1st "real piano concerto" which he needed to be good to place a great 1st impression for him
@@joshparker5259 I don't think it's better than most of his later piano concertos. But I prefer it say to no 11, 12, 14 maybe 16. It is contemporary with his symphony no 25 (g minor) which is also a great work - so he was capable of special music well before he really matured.
@@LPCLASSICAL in my opinion, mozarts piano concerto 21, 1st movement (not 2nd) is the best like there are so many moments in that movement that are out of this world like how in the hell did he make that 250 years ago! And the conclusion that happens right after the mediocre cadenza hits you is so flipping good.
@@joshparker5259 I agree. In fact it was the first mvt of K467 that got me into Mozart big time. The orchestral introduction is vast - if you compare it with the primitive little piano concerti of Haydn and others.
How does someone have this in their mind! It's one thing to appreciate it after the fact, but that is a level musical brilliance I can only hope to one day to partially comprehend.
have you done it yet
Whoa. Amazing thank you!
You can see how much this influenced his 1st Violin Concerto
Mr. Mozart, what's you're 17 year old son doing these days? Oh, just writing music that will last forever. Amazing... 17 years old.
Mozart's music has a touch of the miraculous... Bach can be overwhelming, Haydn can be boring, Beethoven can be bombastic - but Mozart always satisfies.
I am fairly sure that it is Alfred Brendel playing with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. Conductor: Sir Neville Marriner.
Alfred Brendel performing.
This concerto and his first violin Concerto both share some motifs
and have a similar structure
Oh, I love it! Thank you so much for uploading this. ^_^
Who is the pianist??? Conductor???
This is the piece of music that introduced me to classical music when i was 7.
Heard many interpretations since then. This one is now my favorite!!

what can you say except - Mozart :)

This piece was composed in late 1773!
I'm glad you like it, my Pamina.
GREAT!
Woow!
Ontem sonhei com essa Obra. Nunca havia a escutado na vida. No sonho era exatamente assim. Coisa de louco!!!
Boa tarde. Gostei so deu comentario. O Bahiano
Verygood
Andante ma un poco adagio: 8:10
Almost a semitone too high (and too fast) and no mention of the performers, presumably to avoid copyright!
Bravo!
Mozart the genius
16 years old 😳
Technically this piano concerto is more difficult then his later masterpieces.
Heaven!

Not to bad for a 17 year old eh?
I dunno, I've heard better. It's honestly kind of a crappy piece. On opposite day. =)
How you dare? You want to have an example of something really crappy? Your whole pathetic, presumptuous, and meaningless life. That's shitty. May Mozart live for ever!
And the award for: totally dont get it, and Master of Douche goes to Ricky!
KevDreck the majority of classical music pieces have non-native english speakers in the comment section failing to respond correctly to sarcasm
It is a revolutionary work of piano virtuosity by a 17 year old in the 1770's !
People the concerto is RE.
Wa Mozart, Mister Musik

I am 18 now and I don't know what a treble clef is.
Sinh Nguyen really? LOL
piano quien?
this video isn't even in d major, it's in e flat.
how? :D

that drawing black and white looks like Beethoven.
Accordatura sbagliata...!
