Once you removed the pin, how were you able to get the spring out? I’ve been struggling at that part

Push it with a screwdriver off the clevis perpendicular to the axis of the spring, it's wedged in there pretty tight. Hopefully you got it!

If you haven't done the installation yet, here's how I did it and found it really easy. With one hand, push the clutch pedal down. With the other hand, pull the clevis TOWARDS YOU (which pedal is pressed down). Basically you're removing the "spring action" that's keep the clevis towards the pedal.
