Nice set up. I purchased my four hp motor with an alternator so I could charge my trolling motor battery while I was moving up and down the river. It cost 300 bucks, but I am well satisfied with it.
Hello Michael, Hey, I didn't see this video on your channel list... It's a good one. I like how meticulous you are with all the special goodies you have on your canoe.... Great Setup!
I would scrap the trailer and add a carrying yoke as canoes are meant to be versatile(never wait at the boat launch). Only issue would be plastic canoes are very heavy for one person to carry. Opt for a T-formex(esquif), Royalex(wenonah) or Aluminum(grumman) hull. I agree you need to save some cash and get a gas motor (get a 6hp). Otherwise its a solid fishing unit.
How is the board with the rod holders attached? There’s an interesting shot near the end of the video. I’m going to look for more videos on this canoe. Great build!! I just got a 1975 smokercraft 13 ft canoe. I have a bunch of those style rod holders and no way to mount them.
Nice little setup man I got one of those little snooze just like that from Academy recently it was half off I got it for 350 bucks brand new I'm just trying to figure out how to read out now you got some nice little setups
Hi Michael. I bought an old town rouge river is similar to yours. But i didn't get no paper work when i got my canoe. I want to register it. Is it possible to register it? I really like your set up by the way.
Rogue-Spear I already stand up in it. I've seen the outriggers but don't really need them on the lakes I generally go out on. If I was on choppy water I would absolutely want them but personally I don't think they're necessary for my personal use.
Well I guess I spoke too soon. I ended up flippimg amd sinkimg this thing. A very inconsiderate person with a wave runner flipped me and my brother. I have since added the outriggers and did a lot of upgrades. Feel free to check out the videos of me rebuilding the boat, and please like and subscribe.
Awesome set up I’m in the middle of doing pretty much the same thing got a 2HP Honda and 55lb Kota how did you secure the boards you fabed to the rails thanks I’ll kick you a pic of my build
Did those seats come with that canoe or did you install them cause those are the seats I’m looking for my canoe and the middle seat… please link them if you can
Thanks Appreciate it. Ive dome a lot of upgrades as of late. Feel free to check out my other videos on it, and please don't forget to like and subscribe to my channel!
Just picked up a canoe very similar to yours and thinking of doing a few upgrades like yours. I had a few questions how comfortable and sturdy are those seats, I read a few reviews on those seats and they seem to have mixed reviews. I just wanted to see how they have held up for you. 2nd question what model fish finder is that and do you have any recommendations? Also It would be great to see a video of this thing on the water.
Nice set up man... I'm working on a 15ft Coleman canoe i just picked up... Maybe I'll see you on the lake this coming summer.. Have you taking your canoe to Silver-wood Lake?
Luis Barrueta I'm going to get a new outboard for it soon. My used Johnson outboard is just worn out. Thinking of getting a suzuki outboard for it. I ran a new fuel line and got a new gas tank installed and built a trailer for it.
I got this brand new 2019 Tohatsu for lesst than $1200 shipped right to my door. onlineoutboards.com/products/2019-tohatsu-4-hp-mfs4cds-outboard-motor Its a great deal. On Amazon they're $1600, that's a $400 difference. This website is legit, great customer service. I had a couple inquiries about the motor and they were great with answering all my questions. Took about a week from the time I ordered it to the time it was on my front poorch. Don't forget to like and subscribe to my channel!
@@mikesanchezgsxr sweet deal for you. Congrats. I don't weld and homemade trailers now are a total pain to register and pass inspection in my state. Still looking for a small AFFORDABLE small boat trailer. Once channel. I'll follow along.
Registration for the canoe is $20 every 2 yrs. You have to also pay a muscle fee of I think $16. It's pretty cheap. You can tow these canoes with almost anything. My brother has towed it with his prius if that tells ypu anything. The trailer I built from spare parts from a marine junkyard and an axle I bought off Craigslist. I didn't do a video on it but I did do a post with pics of it on Facebook of you want to check it out. The registration for permanent trailer plates at the DMV was $55 but I never have to pay reg fees for the trailer again which isn't bad. The registration fees are bery miniscule. To do the initial title and reg and pay the state sales taxes in CA for the canoe bevause I bought it new was $120. Noe every 2 yrs I pay $20 for reg and $16 for the muscle fee which is nothing really. Here's the link for my trailer build pics m.facebook.com/groups/536983833076703?view=permalink&id=2109768942464843
I've done a lot of upgrades since thos video, some trial and error stuff. Feel free to check out my ither videos and don't forget to like and subscribe!
Was wondering the same thing. Caught a good angle of how the wood is attached @8:16. Really nice setup Michael. You've given me a lot of great ideas for my canoe. Cheers from Canada.
@@GITMachine Thanls. I've actually done a lot of upgrades since this video. You're welcome to check them out. Don't forget to like and subscribe to my channel!
I built my own trailer from spare parts I got at a marine junk yard and a trailer axle I got off craigslist. I didn't do a video on it but I posted pics on Kayaks DIY page on FB.
William Collejo It's been great. I take it out with my son and haven't got it to flip over yet. Taken it tp some bog lakes too with some decent swells. Bog Bear lake was all good. Hit some decent swells at Bog Bear Lake and it was real stable.
We ended up eventually flipping it due to a guy on wave runner coming dangerously clpse to us. I have sinve added some outriggers from Sailboats To Go to keep it stable, and now it's almost impossible to flip. I have some new videos on rebuilding the boat after it flipped over and getting a new motor, getting it back on the water.

Thanks Rick. Always appreciate the compliments.
You have to register a canoe with a trolling motor? Thats insanity, here in Australia you can run a 3.5 HP gas motor without rego
Super cool! Thanks for the tour. I’m going to add grip tape to my floor
Miss Ya Partner.... You wouldn't believe what's going on since you left us.... R.I.P. Buddy.
Can you do a video on your trailer? I'm in the process of designing and trying to figure out what to get/build for my scanoe. Great setup!!

Great setup. How about adding some outriggers to stabilize it for fishing so you could stand up on it?

Do those boat lights up front and on the back run on batteries? If so where'd you get them? Nice setup!
Kevin Poole Walmart. they all run on AAAs
how about the Trailer
Where did you buy the trailer from?
kaohleeyang I actually built it from various trailer parts I found in a junk yard and the axle/wheels I got off some guy on Craigslist.

Excellent!
How is the rear green wood attached?
Dale Fletcher it sandwiches another 2x3 under the gunnels using a couple bolts, washers and wing nuts.
Michael SANCHEZ so the lower piece is shorter and fits up under the lip of the canoe?
Dale Fletcher yes
Was wondering the same thing. Caught a good angle of how the wood is attached @8:16.
