Just purchased the Epiphone Slash j-45 vermillion burst, went in to see the new Epi Sj 200 and see it is made in the China shop. Sounded really nice, $1500 though? I went with the Indonesian shop. I have experience with their Masterworks Guitars, high quality great guitars for the price point. It is my leave on the stand guitar by my desk, and my J-55 1939 custom, in the case for safe keeping..

It sounds very bright and articulate, which is not what I expect to hear from a J45, though it looks nice.
    BTW, Dylan played a J50.

I have the Epiphone J45 and I think it is an excellent guitar, but my question is if the 2 guitars weigh the same, because the Epiphone is very heavy, I don't have how to compare, since I don't have the Gibson, could you clarify this doubt. And if all solid body guitars are that heavy?

It says red spruce top in some of the listings I’ve red? Is it a Sitka Spruce top or Red spruce top?

I like this, but I would love to see them give the IBG Hummingbird an upgrade too.

Its penny pinching not to include a rosewood fretboard on a $1300 all solid wood mahogany, supposed premium guitar, IMHO. If they are intending to continued to do this then Epiphone should at the very least be dyeing the Laurel so it looks more like Rosewood!

Just found a j45 50’s original for $1300 maybe I got lucky but I would hold out for a Gibson 😂 agree it should be rosewood!

@@SMAWA9 Good. Only buy a Japan or US acoustic guitar that is all solid only. The wood quality and craftsmanship is most important, especially for the scalloped bracing which has to be done by an expert luthier with 10-20 yrs. experience.

So this Epiphone model was the one use to record all those songs? And not the Gibson version? Dylan etc had an Epiphone?
    Beautiful guitar!!!

Yeah, that’s a nice one. If it weren’t in Eastman price territory for a lesser build quality it would be a no brainer.

For less than than the epiphone, you can get an Eastman E6SS-TC. Same design. TORREFIED sitka top. Solid mahogany b&s. Completely HANDMADE. Or for around the same price, you can also get the adirondack top version. It's just a better deal going with Eastman at that price point.

Torrified red spruce top is a great combo with mahogany so this is attractive.

Very nice quality acoustic, and super 60s-like Dylan, Beatles etc sound. VERY different to the new SJ-200.
Since this a specification video, could you please modify it or add in a comment the specs on the connectivity to an amp and/or laptop tools like NI Guitar-Rig, like I have on my Epi LP Standard Ultra- lll ME? And does it come with a case? Thanks for posting and stay safe! 😊

They should at the very least dye the wood so it looks more like Rosewood, if they are going to use Laurel which often looks greyish!

yeah sounds more like a martin. little mids and weak bass. doesnt sound like my dad's vintage j45. was excited to buy one but may just buy a gibson standard j45 instead.

  • @deluxemeat

I was excited for this until I picked one up the other day and discovered they copied everything EXCEPT for the big neck dimensions from the Gibson “banner” j45.
The gloriously fat neck profile is not on the Epiphone version.
Epiphone- you are seriously missing out not making more guitars with big neck profiles.

would be a better demo with the pickup not in the mix, hard to gauge the true acoustic sound with the piezo quacking away
