Given the limited time frame and the director's limited vision, I'd say Bale's performance was stellar. If we had just a little more time and a bit more of a serious, dramatic, high stakes plot, I'd say Gorr might well have been one of the MCU's better villains.
The last time they did a much more serious tone in an mcu film, people hated it

@@Jackferrett6781I would say that the forced humor was pretty rampant throughout this film, even during scenes when there should not have been any forced humor such as when Thor and Jane failed to stop Gorr from taking the Asgardian children.

@@Jackferrett6781 I will say that the forced humor was in every layer of the blueprint. From the basement floor to the birdie nest on top of the chimney. Some of it was funny, I’ll give that. The rest was entirely misplaced and it’s why the film suffered when it should have set a standard for superhero horror tropes.

@@batmanwithprep the only reason I was going to watch this movie was to see Christian Bale as Gorr. DCU is by no means better than MCU but I think marvel could use some pointers from DC in terms of an epic superhero fight. Marvel has consistently fallen short in that department
Bale was wasted on this movie His portrayal of Gorr was compelling and dark, completely at odds with the rest of the film. Makes you think that Gorr could have been an iconic villain had the film been different.

I met Paul Allen when I was a Senior at Everett High School (WA) back in 2011 at some fancy ceremony for the (then new) Boeing 787 Dreamliner as a part of some school field trip (lol literally just went down the street to the Boeing Plant 😅) but yeah he was there along with a plethora of snobby rich Japanese business men (who I think bought the first one 🤔 don't quote me on that though) but that's besides the point .. so yeah shook hands with him and he wished me luck in my endeavors after HS .. but I don't own a TV nowadays so I don't get what that means .. only thing I can think of is that they look similar 🤷🏽♂️ because lemme tell ya Paul Allen was translucently white like a 👻 .. can someone explain it to me 🙏🏽 por favor y gracias

it's also interesting how captain america is able to instinctively use the hammer and its various abilities meshed into his own different combat style within seconds, but no-one gave a shit about that making no sense. one assumes that a mystical electric hammer conferring worthiness with a quasi-sentient nature probably helps out the holder in a fight
otherwise we'd have to wonder why captain america can remotely hold his own against thor or enemies who could threaten thor when his combat background is literally "plucky weakling who got strong then spent a few years training" compared to thor's literal centuries of experience

Wow just watched this movie. Terrible absolutely terrible. It’s like a bad Saturday morning children’s cartoon. The MCU has dropped off a mountain. Everything since Endgame is awful.

This is one of those films that had some of the greatest potential ever, like you can see from a few scenes alone that if they kept it more darker and actually killed off a few characters it would've had a much darker weight to it
The problem with movies is they always let the good guy wins and that's not always the case
man why they make taika waititi the director? if they didn't use the same director as thor 1 and Thor 2 it would be perfect marvel movie especially chris hemsworth is really good as thor just bad writing comedy.
See while most of this movie is just... terrible.. Bale really made the combat shine because he used proper half swording techniques and actually learned to use his weapon properly and effectively against the idea of blunt hammer like weapons among other things, his footwork when he wasn't shadow poofing was excellent and so was technique. That is.. the only thing I really remember from this movie XD

This could have even the sickest Thor movie of them all, even had fkn zeus in it… but they made a fool of him and basically everybody Else except for gorr. I really loved Christian Bale as Gorr; I felt his pain. Gorr was a devout man until a god turned his back on him. I like Taika Waititi, but this movie got too ridiculous.

Th3Birdman- this film is adapting the gore storyline from the comics and in that storyline we didn't see faligar being killed either only the aftermath in that respect the film is extremely comic accurate down to the panel
(Th3Birdman literally shows the panel from actual Thor vs Gorr comic book he has)
I was almost sure that this movie's issues weren't as big as people made them seem. Now, it does seem Bale is carrying this movie-as one could expect. I didn't expect the vfx here to be so incredibly bad. They are very off-putting and wouldn't feel out of place in a movie from the mid 2000s, which is not the best compliment you could get.
