I can't understand the ones the BIG audience choose to make a star, the talentless and regurgitated keep getting all the fame when real , amazing and deeply talented artist such as Beth just get overlooked. If this world had any taste at all or common sense Beth Orton would be a household name in every country on earth. I for one Love you Beth. Thank you for everything you've given the world.
Beth was a big enough star to sell out the Royal Albert Hall in 1998. She never caught on over here and her audience in England is smaller now, but devoted.
first heard her in a moving car in seville more than 15 years ago... funny thing is the same night I discovered coltrane's love supreme and a couple of weeks latter bought both cds on a winter afternoon somewhere east and cold... now i live 200 km from the northernmost point of the southamerican continent and still listen to both... funky voice, I can clearly imagine her singing together with tom waits on a roadside somewhere
Beth. I'm completely prone. Your work is so sublime that even the best critics cannot understand it. Fan since forever. Attended your Perth event in June (your drummer brought my Trailer Park cover to autograph). I was happy- but wished, with my 17 yr. old daughter dragged along, we could have had 30 secs. Thank you for your autograph & I do love you, since Astralwerks in the late 90's.
So beautiful, so honest, like listening to the Sounds of a stream sitting peacefully. We also share the same love for the álbum Blue, and thinking there’s no one like Nick Drake. Thank you Beth.
Deep, soulful Beth Orton! Saw her on this tour of Sugaring Season. Highly recommend all her albums but especially Central Reservation and Sugaring Season.
Nice to hear some of her new songs. I bought her first two albums but I am just catching up on her later stuff. In response to the query about the songs used in the David Attenborough documentary on hares- if it is the one that I saw a few years ago the music was by British folk singer Maddy Prior (similar voice to Beth Orton I suppose) and her band Steeleye Span, but I don't remember any Beth Orton songs. Of course it could have been a different programme that you watched!
With reference to my previous post about the music used on the Attenborough B.B.C. programme about hares- for the record the programme that I referred to was called 'Shadow Of The Hare' (late 1990's) and the music was Maddy Prior's 'The Fabled Hare' and both are on You Tube. Excellent film and evocative music, but no Beth Orton songs on that particular programme though unfortunately!
What a stupid fucker you are - are you with the fashion and deportment police then ??. Yes, she has a pretty face - you have a fucking terrible disposition - strange world innit !!??

thats exactly why talents like her is so valuable.

the reason people like stuff is dependent on many factors, not just talent

She elevates common, everyday phrases into magical, all consuming lofty reverence
"Candles" 0:00
"Dawn Chorus" 3:30
"Poison Tree" 7:00
"Sweetest Decline" 11:23
Thank you...😎✌❤

The way the guitar becomes like wind or rain drops and that voice. Amazing and refreshing.
So beautiful, so honest, like listening to the Sounds of a stream sitting peacefully.

Thank you Beth.
My wife and Beth and her husband don't know that I have been in love with her for teen years. She's the best!

reminds me of Nick Drake, so beautiful and melancholy.
Wow i was about to write that - really reminds me of Nick Drske
She always has had a certain darkness and focus on her guitar. For some reason it reminds of "day is done"
Beth Orton is cool! I like her since 1993! I saw her first in WILLIAM ORBIT`s Water from a Vine Leaf

It has been said that men age better than woman. Way to prove em wrong Beth! You have embraced your 40's well.
You are so lovely, woman !
Gee I love Beth Orton. She reminds me very much of Joni Mitchell... Could listen to them both all day... oh wait, I do! hahaha

Yo NPR, let me show you how to de-interlace and encode bruh. This is a 2012 vid and I was de-interlacing since 1998. Just ask Captain D
Channeling early Joni Mitchell,.whatever it is quite beautiful ..

So, what happened to Beth Orton?

My equal favourite track of hers, you must have great taste :)
Found her by way of Orbits music.
Only way it would have been better, is if "Magpie" was in the set!
