Music is always strongly linked to memories of when you listened to it the most. For me this song is quintessentially late 90s. And it is stunning.

Of course! It feels like the current “younglings” might be having a bit of the musical “awakening” we had in the early nineties and late ‘80’s, and our older relatives had in the late ‘60’s and early ‘70’s. Over produced, over choreographed, over simplified, over amplified, over extended, over amended music will always be a hit or a one hit wonder, but the only music and lyrics most people want to listen to is written and played by the artist. I hate to tell everyone, but this cycle has been going and going and going for decades. Mozart was the hip new guy in his age, because he wrote his own stuff!

l knew l recognised those eyes. l have always luved this song ever since l 1st heard it in 98' l think. There was something so eerie but familiar about it all. l have suffered from Ulcerative Colitis for over 28yrs. Crohns is the 'sister' disease to it. If she filmed during a Flare, she is a fucking trooper! That white hot, stabbing abdominal pain, followed by the subsequent pissing and shitting of blood that leaves you paralyzed with pain and confusion, isn't just a trival stomach bug, you can ignore and it'll go away. Amazing effort by her to continue through #ibdwarrior

Because it's both timeless, neutral singer-songwriter pop-rock, but with artistic merit and content. Even a touch of avant guard. That is why it doesn't age and isn't dated at all. This goes for almost all music, tv, film, etc anytime before the 2000s.

Falling from the western shore to find yourselves alone again
    Wondering where you have been
Your lonely voice calls across the starlit coast reaching out to be seen
She cries your name three times again
    She cries your name
How long can this love remain
Cut beneath the surface screen of what we say and what we seem, is a trick to be seen
She keeps crying out your name
But her scream sound the same, how fickle fate can be
She cries your name three times again
    She cries your name
How long can this love remain
Birds that scream for territory can learn to sing euphorically
Give him time and he's real
And there's a wasteland in your soul the burned out trees will leave you cold, living out an ideal
She cries your name three times again
    She cries your name,
How long can this love remain
She cries your name three times again
    She cries your name
How long can this love remain

Brilliant debut - an intoxicating blend of folk and late 90's electronica. Funny how some reviews I've seen say the sound is a bit dated...I completely disagree. All of Beth's songs have a timeless quality, but the added flourishes and soundscapes on this album add that extra pop and color that make this album such a rewarding and engaging listen. All of her other CD's are good, but in my opinion none of the others touch Trailer Park.

Beth Orton reminds me so much of Sandy Denny (singer for Fairport Convention) - some quality of voice that they share, and some of the phrasing in her compositions...

I can't believe I never knew you or your music. Just found out and love your music! What's crazy is that on the east coast a load of talent was being flooded in the world the same year 1996. It was my concert year so the year before and a few years down I have never seen so many bands live. I totally pay attention to artisan of all type and I can't believe I missed your videos. This particular song, I have heard on the radio but If you hear a song once or twice and never see the video, you humanly tend to forget and I'm a musician. Man, you are awesom Beth Orton! 🙂🎸

The point i forgot to mention was the reason for me finding your videos is because I had ordered cds to play on this dj controller and the BPL library donated all these cds to a company i bought them from and I am so happy. I popped in your cd first because it had an atom on it lol. I heard Tangent and LOST MY F'n MIND lol. I play it LOUD every day! Thank you!

She sang for William Orbit on a few tracks. He produced an album Called "Spill - Superpinkymandy" back in 1993. It was Beth Orton and William orbit doing the music. The track called "Roll The Dice" was covered by Finley Quaye with Orbit on the music and Beth did vocals as well.
