If Miranda had read the whole book at the beginning of the game, she would have realized how screwed she was when she fought Ethan
It was just a story but she didn't know the story is the future or the same to what will happened

I love how once the full version of this book is shown, it changes from a cautionary tale to a story about how strong a father's love for their child can be.
When I first saw the story book intro I thought it was cheesy and dumb.
Then I saw the full story at the end of the game... it hit different after that.
Well done, now you see how this fairy tail book story metaphorically represent all the enemy you will be facing and you as our main protagonist Ethan and Mia. If you really miss it, there's small metaphor that represent Chris and his Wolfhound squad.

Fuck, that last part actually made me cry after beating the game.
The Whole Story is foreshadowing the Whole Game. It all began with a Child lost in a Forest (Rose kidnapped by Miranda) and ended with the Father sacrifice to save his Daughter (Ethan Sacrifice so Rose can be saved alongside Mia, while he destroy the Megamycete and the entire Village).
1. The Mother Lost her Daughter to the Forest : Miranda took Rose away from Mia and Ethan.
2. The Bat Lord gave the Child a Blood to drink and in behind 3 Bats appear : Lady Dimitrescu lust for drinking Man Blood and the Daughters of Dimitrescu.
3. The Dark Weaver cast a Dress out of Miss : Donna create an Illusions from the Pollen of Infected Plants. The Monster Spider Nature resemble Angie and the Dolls.
4. The Fish King gave the Child one of his fin to be eaten : Moraeu Obsession to gain affection of Miranda also his from to eat the Fisherman who wanders his Reservoir.
5. The Iron Steed grew angry after his gear was taken : Heisenberg's hatred toward Miranda for what she did to him.
6. The Witch put the Girl inside Mirror and shattered it : Miranda separate Rose inside 4 Flask.
7. The Father fought the Witch and burn alongside the Forest : Ethan Sacrifice to save Rose and destroy the Village with him.
I just realized that “Village of Shadows” foreshadowed, no pun intended, of what is to come in the game.

As a father myself the bit that is added on during the credits really hits home hard.
The bat is lady dimutresc because the girl drank her blood which lady dimutresc did to you. The spider is the doll girl which I cannot remember the name of because the dress resembled that of the doll. The fish is the dude who’s name I can’t remember either is the fish king because he can turn into a fish who also resembles the fish king. The metal horse is heisenburg because it is made of metal and the horse is also on the key used for his base. And the witch is mother Miranda because it said they turned into the witch and in the game mother Miranda created them. The girl is rose for obvious reasons. The mother is Mia. And the father is Ethan. This is just a theory but it fits.
yes but with out the added context of the ending mother miranda is both the mother and the witch but with the added ending she is now only the witch
The doll lady's name is Donna and the fish guy's name is Moreau. And the characters in the book are symbolic of all of them.

And this is why Ethan Winters is the greatest RE hero of all time. He died so his daughter can live.

Funny how they represent fire that the father carrying to burn the witch is represented Chris and his wolfhound squad using their explosive to blown the entire village

i think the bat is chris if you think about it correlates to how ethan died because of chris in the end so it makes sense
