This is beyond epic. We need more of this on UA-cam.

There really wasn't anyone like him in the industry, & there never will be.
I had the honor of meeting him twice. Super sweet down to earth & friendly.
    RIP Jani \m/

Just like any other band. Loses their charm after 3 albums

@TrollMunchkinz m noticed that with a lot of hair bands after the 3rd it died down. Very few can still put out a good record

RATT was one of the ones that were able to push beyond the “3-and-done” curse…

You are correct Ellis...at 46, my memory is sometimes off a year or two...I could have sworn it was 88 when it came out, but yes it was early 89. I am sure this is part of a club tour they already had booked...my guess would be later that summer/fall of 89, they were in arenas supporting another major act.

My question is this...Warrant's debut album came out in 1988 and MTV had already broken them big time...how come in April of 1989 they were still playing small clubs? I am shocked they hadn't hooked up with a major band by then as an opener, or playing 3000-5000 seat theaters as a headliner. Just thinking out loud...and this sounds tight as hell, almost like they had a backing track. Sounds amazing!

I believe the Dirty Rotten album was released January 31, 1989... so several months and a half of small clubs doesn't seem too crazy. Warrant was also questioned early on if they had recorded background vocals...

I saw them in '89 at a college gymnasium opening for Eddie Money. Only video they had released was down boys, Heaven came out soon after

My old band opened for them in a little shit hole bar in Rockford IL 1989. Endless nights, wish I still had the recording from that night, I used to record every show off the soundboard. Jani and company blew the roof off that little joint back in 89.. he was a talented musical genius that never really got his due thanks to Cobain and Vetter, jus sayin. RIP Jani Lane

saellis3 yes I seen them in my hometown gig before the Album had dropped. The gig I played with them must of been 88? Can't quite remember, shits all a blur from back then, came and went so fast its like a dream. lol

The intro lick to Sometimes She Cries from the record was brought in as a backing track.....then Erick plays the rest of the intro live on his own.

Sounds like when the entire band comes in is when Erik starts playing. Now it more recent videos he is playing the entire intro.

weakest guitarists from that era.. they were still trying to play the solos the ringer added to the album.

Sick Shit.....it's like being transported back in time to the Country Club days in Reseda California....they used to play there all the time before they were signed along with a lot of other up and coming bands from the Sunset Strip. Several times they were kicked off their own stage by the guys in Poison who would just start jamming on Warrants instruments. For a kick in the Ass check out the "David Allen Coe" song "Fuckin in the Butt". Warrant used to play it right before they would take the stage.....it's definitely worth a listen!
