Abby a quick comment on your black tank this week. When a food service establishment cannot give you dietary information - it usually means they are not cooking from scratch and just buying, warming, and serving. The pandemic opened many new restaurants with non professionally trained chefs (cooks). My opinion. We enjoyed the podcast!
Always enjoy listening to you. I live in Southern California in a beach city. Huntington Beach is a big problem here with E bikes, pacifically, young people on E bikes, speeding flipping people off, being a nuisance I believe it’s state is going to start possibly looking into some kind of licensing for E bikes. There is a long multiuse path that goes along Pacific Coast Highway. There’s a lot of problems there and on the downtown streets of my city and sometimes it’s just not the young people on the E bikes that are going to fast. They recently divided part of that pathway one for bikes, in either direction, or the other for pedestrians. It’s just paint on the asphalt but it’s working to some extent. I’m hoping all that are going to fast causing issues in the national parks, state parks, campgrounds, etc. don’t end up being banned ! when I hear about people being attacked by large animals in national parks Ect. I think that anybody entering those areas should have to sign a document saying that they will not approach the wildlife to get a selfie, etc..
As a freelance professional editor/proofreader who lives full time in a fifth wheel at an RV park and travels in a smaller rig on the weekends, I'd be interested in having a conversation with you guys about what you might need as you expand your team. The beauty of RV living is that it's adaptable to your lifestyle.
Sounds like my third grade teacher from the 60s wrote those campground rules (minus the “shart” typo).

Since almost all RVers are part-timers, your experiences, insights, and information will be just as relevant and likely more so! So not to worry at all; I doubt you'll lose anyone. In fact, you might consider making it a very open point that you have information, advice, and experiences to share that are specifically helpful to those who use their RVs mostly on vacations, carefully planned road trips, and so on. (There are plenty of channels by full-timers.) You can also cover things like what to do with your RV when you're not on the road, keeping it safe; provisioning it for different kinds of trips, including what to leave in and what to take out when it's in storage; and tons of other stuff I don't know about but you will. And, I think your studio idea is very appropriate to you two, because you're really the most professional content providers in your field. - I'm really looking forward to the changes!

I am so supportive of your transition out of full time. I’ve noticed other content creators with the 7 year itch to return to sticks and bricks (KYD?) while not totally abandoning RV life. How many episodes can a creator do over the years on emptying the black tank? When children are little it is amazing to experience the road and adventure thru their eyes. But that “experiencing “ evolves and maybe gets more difficult as the kids get older and have their own interests. I am glad Jason will still be offering the park news section. My husband doesn’t understand my enjoyment of RV channels. BUT he does pay attention to Jason’s news updates. All this just to say…you two have produced one of the best RV channels on You Tube. Thank you. I don’t look at you two as quitting, but evolving. Your boys are getting older and in not so many years you will begin the journey towards full time empty nesters. I can tell that you two love, enjoy and support each other, all of which will give you much joy and fun as you “Miles” along. Blessing and peace

Full time rv isn’t why I tune in, the combination of your personalities is what I enjoy. Also how you all deal with the same challenges a family rving deals with. Do what you want to do and don’t worry about what anyone else’s thinks.

Some campgrounds are a bit out of control and this is why they have rules. This place sounds like it is about to go under.
You will NOT loss me. You Always have a lot of great information for all RVers. You do what is right for you. We have bike paths all over our city in AZ and tge bicycle riders that are sponsored racers go SO FAST, HIGHER SPEEDS then tge ebije riders. They are the rudest ones one paths. God bless

That campground is insane, I have a strict policy, no staying at insane peoples places.

45 cm = 17.7 in! My Solo Stove is taller than that! And I am not allowed to talk after 10 PM (which is past my bedtime :).

I fully agree with you decision. I was a Career US Navy person and I had to decide when approaching age 40 the direction of our family and my career. Moving every 2-3yrs. sometimes from one end of the country i.e. Fl. to Ak. etc . Also I want continuity for my children who both were entering High School to make friends for life. So the decision although hard was easy for our family. It was time to move on in life to new experiences. A hard decision but one we all never regretted. Family always comes first. My husband has mobility issues. An electric bike is a game changer. We are not speeding around. Just a different type of wheel chair.

Oh my gosh! I will or nit not ever go to that campground. Can’t drink even with your kids around can’t drive fast I don’t like speeders in parks but 10 miles an hour that’s unreal. Can you give the name of park so my friends and I don’t go to that one? That’s a crazy park to stay at.
Those campground rules are ridiculous! The closest thing I encountered was an host that got too into enforcing the speed limit. She had this little speed checking device. Apparently she clocked me doings 8 when the limit is 5. My speedometer doesn’t even register less than 10 mph accurately. After I set up I headed back out for my standard Dollar General run. She flags me down at the guard booth and started chastising me like a child. I wished her good day and drove off.
5 mph in a campground is a speed trap. Lol.
The first time I saw your channel about 2 years ago, as an older sister who grew up with 2 younger brothers who could barely stand living in the same house with the rest of us when they became teenagers, I wondered how your sons would deal with the lack of privacy and personal autonomy living and traveling constantly in an RV with their parents. I can certainly understand why you now want to transition to living in a house and rving part time. I'm happy for you all, especially for your sons.
Actually, they’ve all elected to share a room in the new place. Lol. They are looking forward to pursuing interest that require us to be in one place for a bit and I’m looking forward to having a washer and dryer in my home. But yeah, I was the only girl and oldest of four and I get wanting space but I also know that comes in lots of different ways and I’m glad we can give the kids what they need at this stage in life.
Also, I totally hear you on the GF offerings at restaurants! We just moved back from the UK and have needed to downgrade our vegan values to vegetarian to just be able to eat on the road. Even then the 'vegetarian options' are slim pickings and certainly not paleo or healthy. We are generally limited to fries and salads. I made the mistake to order collard greens at cracker barrel and then discovered it had bacon in it!! dear lord.
Lol. Yeah, we like to add bacon to everything in the US. I get so tired of the “eat a salad” gluten free offerings, and paleo is extra hard, unless I want a salad. Lol.

Wow, Campground rules! Nearly 40 years ago, I worked at a county campground, and I can say those rules are completely INSANE! As for you guys going part-time RV life, do what you think is best for you. As a viewer, I am just tagging along and get to enjoy that which you wish to share. I have learned a lot from you and other UA-camrs, and gotten to see parts of the Country that I have not been able to travel to. For all of that, Thank You! Best of luck with your next endeavors.
I'm shocked they don't have extreme rules about dogs too. Even normal campgrounds have rules about leashes, picking up poop, excessive barking, etc. You'd think they would have gone crazy about dogs too. I mean what if your dog barks after 10pm? 🤷🏼♂️🤣🤣🤣
That’s an excellent point. No real pet issues, which given their rules about kids, you’d totally think they’d be very strict about bringing Fido along.

This is the first pod cast I watched of your all's and LOVED IT. I watch your RV Miles all the time very short and informative (those work for me!). As for your Pod Cast OMG you all are crazy funny/cool TOGETHER! Love to see more of that on your RV Miles. I understand we are in such a Socializing world with so many opinions and you have to watch your Ps and Qs and Do's and Don'ts. You all and other UA-camrs have been doing this wonderful informative videos for years and we THANK YOU for that and everyone has the right for change without FULL blown explanations without the fear of negative socializing comments. Abby! I recently stumbled across a delightful series (8 seasons, daily uploads) on You Tube that you may enjoy bingeing. It’s called ETTC (escape to the country) based in England. City folks wanting to leave the craziness of London and find a home in the English county-side. After learning what the couple is looking for the host takes them to 3 different homes-the last being the mystery house. Not only do they visit quaint and many historic homes, the views of the surrounding rural landscapes is gorgeous. The upgrades to the buildings (many converted barns, churches and old cottages-thatched roofs included ) are amazing. And to fill the hour the host takes the couple to a local small business to learn from the proprietor (apple cider brewing, bread making, etc) and get a feel for the area. You learn a lot of local English history. So relaxing, so lovely, a wonderful escape. For each house the couple guesses the asking price and have the opportunity to make an offer or keep looking. Catch an episode with a nice glass of wine. Jason may enjoy it, too.
Oh my gosh!! Missy, I LOVE that show. It have only seen one season because I had to have BBC channel on Prime but not that it’s on UA-cam! Yes! Def grabbing a glass of wine and tucking in. I always love the mystery house they take them too and the rotating hosts. Wow, you know me so well. Lol. Thanks for the YT tip. -A

I can understand the speed limit, it’s 5 mph on ours, in the UK and there have been an accident and a child killed. The others sound crazy, not drinking in your own rig if you have a child, never heard anything like that, sounds worse than the gestapo. Who checks for the critters on your fire wood 😂

I bought a ball cap in Denali a couple of years ago that says, “The Mountain is calling and I must go”. It has an embroidered Denali mountain outline and “DNP”. One of my favorites.

Jason I like the way you fixing the IBeX. Putting curtains up grey idea for privacy. I agree too with the ebike situation. Abby I hear you on the gluten-free buns. We did that with smashed potatoes are they real or instant? They would say real but mom knew they instant and she could nit eat instant or she would get sick. Because of those rules, please find out and name the camp so no one goes there. There comes a time that Full timers want a home base, not stop. We were full time for 3 years and now travel 50-50.

Im so excited for you guys! You're transitioning into a different phase of your life and business. We're hoping to transition to full time in 2.5 years time. But I want to do things like your upcoming plans, take things slow and intentional. Really explore an area before moving on. And we'll keep all of our properties, primary and rentals, so we'll always have a home to go to if we want or need to.
You totally have to name the house Mile Zero! Or at least the home studio😂

Good luck on your new journey! but I can only watch so many vids on RV'ing so I stick to those who full time. It is a good idea to focus on your audience and traveling is very different than full-time RV'ing so I can understand why it's almost impossible to do both. Again, good luck!

I think you are working toward a much needed business model. I want to hear more industry content too.
Leaving full-time RV life for part-time RVing from a home base IS part of the full-time experience. Knowing when to say when is important, or perhaps you will burn out from the grinds of RV life altogether.
Add kids growing up and other family to the mix and knowing when to say when holds even more truth.

@@RVMilesPodcast I just think it can and should work both ways, to needs of each RVr, as long as you are financially and situationally able to do so.
The longer we remain in any cycle of living, the more it becomes routine. While there are positive things with our routines if we don't shake the ingredients once in awhile, we can find ourselves in an unintended rut.
Family situations especially apply here, as family comes first. You are good parents, listening to the needs of your kids, and also doing so with regard to your family here at RV Miles

RV Lifestyle does this. They are an older couple, but have multiple permanent spots to travel to camp. They hold meet and greets at different places. KYD and LJMJ have home bases, they still travel, but make time for family.
The RV odd couple: John and Mercedes totally changed their focus when they went part time and it was not relevant to us anymore. Can’t wait to see your transition. Happy house hunting!

Needing to eat gluten-free, and also now having a seafood allergy, keeps me out of so many restaurants. If they serve seafood, I can order something else, but anything that goes in a deep fryer is off-limits for me because most of the time they are clueless, or worse yet, guess if they use a dedicated deep fryer for their seafood. Mostly, I just eat bun-less now.
It often feels like like a marketing ploy given how little care actually goes into it. I appreciate the restaurants that differentiates between “gluten free” and “gluten sensitive”.
On the issue of part time vs full time RVing, we consider ourselves as part time, we go on 5 to 7 trips a year, April to October. We love Rving but there are other things we enjoy and my work requires me to be in town 2 weeks a month.
We have encountered some negative responses to the fact that we, mostly, do road trips in rental cars and only RV sometimes...like how can we be Travel Vloggers if we don't RV. While full time RV'ing is a dream that we are working towards in the next few years, we have 2 other people in our household to care for at this time and are about 3 years away from being able to leave the sticks/bricks so we can RV full time. There are different seasons...you guys are heading into your "home base" season soon. We will still love whatever you put out. We will still enjoy learning from you. But mostly, we just want to hang out with you.
So, now that you’re closer to Palmer, moochdocking is a possibility. Welcome to come and plug in……🤩😁. Let us know….. 😊

I totally hear your frustration re restaurant s adverting a gluten free menu, then having only 1 or 2 options. I have both gluten & dairy allergies. I also am constantly disappointed with food service staff who don't understand that butter, cheese, and sour cream are dairy products, or who put wheat toast, crackers, or croutons on my plate. Finding restaurants & their staff who are educated & knowledgeable about food allergies is cause for celebration! 😁

They sound like they are previous Switzerland residents. These type rules are posted in all hotels in Switzerland.😮the best one I read was: men must not urinate standing up. You must sit down to urinate.

On gluten-free on restaurant menus: I suspect that restaurants are very cautious about labeling as "gluten free" even dishes that obviously don't include gluten-containing ingredients is because of the serious risk to those with true celiac disease--a very severe gluten allergy--from ingesting even tiny amounts. The physical reactions can be almost immediate, very painful for the allergic person, and unpleasant for everyone in the restaurant. And it takes weeks for the celiac sufferer to mostly recover their gut health. So yes, it is a problem for those who want to restrict gluten but aren't going to have a terrible reaction if a bread crumb fell in their soup. Perhaps restaurants need another kind of labeling for dishes where gluten-containing ingredients aren't part of the recipe but where they can't guarantee a hundred-percent purity. - Of course the problem is made even more frustrating, as you point out, Jason, that much of the time no one can say what's in the food.
I suspect you’re right, which is why I always appreciate when a restaurant uses “gluten sensitive” over gluten-free”. Offering a salad and some chips and salsa as your gf option feels like a marketing ploy just to get me in the door.
Even $40 dollars a night seems expensive to me, we stay on a club site that we are members of and it’s £20 per night including the dog and electricity, in late July and August it would go up to £25 to £30 no more, but thats high season prices.
Watching Abby's head explode at the outlandish rules of that RV park 😂 I had some strong reactions too. I'd never stay there because they're so rude, unwelcoming, unreasonable and controlling.

Whoever owns that Alberta RV Park is in the wrong business ... they need to re-think what they are doing. One of the reasons I boondock 95% of the time away from all this nonsense.
Gosh, a person could have a lot of fun with that campground management if they knew ahead of time about their rules😇.
Of course, they would have to have fun quickly because their time there will be shart.

Let your wife know I’m happy to grab a gluten free dinner with her anytime, most likely it’ll be chips and salsa since that seems to be enough for a restaurant to say it’s gluten free. Lol.
