I can see some dogs seeing these guys as chew toys, since there are ferret looking stuff toys and things that dogs and cats play with. Thank you for making this video ^^

Definitely! It's one of the reasons we won't personally own one of my ferret breeds: Huskys! They have high prey drives, that can't always be trained out/managed with smaller animals (So I just vicariously live through videos of Huskys online lol)

The ferret group I’m in on Facebook has always told me I was wrong for taking them outside .. this makes me feel a lot better! It’s summer in Jersey so recently it’s been in the high 90’s even early in the am. My ferrets have been mad at me lately and pooping in front of the door sometimes 😅 I can’t wait until it cools down soon so we can continue it’s our favvv ❤️ I use precautions also❤️❤️

But I love seeing that someone else takes their ferrets out with them! I only have the one because it’s better for her & me that way, as she had ECE when I got her & it didn’t go away for a really long time so she got accustomed to getting all the attention! She LOVES going out with me & I’m disabled so she goes literally everywhere with me. I have a thing called a critter cuddler, Idk how well it would work with three, but she stays in that tucked into my jacket & she pokes her sweet face out, most people don’t even realize I have her & I’ve never been told I can’t have her someplace because she so well behaved! She tells me when she has to go to the bathroom & we just go outside & I keep the earth rated poop bags clipped to my bag which work perfect.
I’ve never thought of the concerns about insects & stuff though so thanks for that bit, I take her cross country with me so I’ll definitely be more careful with that from now on. And I never thought to ask people if they were sick before letting them pet her, tbh I don’t really worry about her getting an illness because she had ECE & covid at the same time & I figured out how to treat them & she finally beat ECE after a six month battle!
    Thanks for the informational video!

Sounds like you guys have such a great bond!!! ECE can be so scary! So glad you guys were able to beat it! I'll look into the Critter Cuddler. We recently had to put our eldest ferret, Kreacher, to sleep due to his age, and the amount of inoperable tumors he had; so we just have the 2 ferrets, and me and my husband take them out :)

@@PawsToJourney thank you, she is an amazing companion for sure & I am very blessed to have her.
And I am so sorry to hear that you had to put Kreacher down, sometimes it is for the best to end they’re suffering, especially if it is untreatable.
I hope you guys love the Critter cuddler as much as we do! It’s my little girls favorite thing. We use it every single day!

If you can read dogs and cats they shouldn't be an issue. Aside from big, off leash dogs.
Usually dogs are terrified of both me and the ferrets though.
Ferrets shouldn't fight each other on neutral territory. But if someone takes their ferrets on regular walks in the same area...yeah that might be a different story.
The risk of illnesses is something that's simply there. Can't keep them in a bubble. (Mine are vaccinated as well.)
When it comes to people, I personally hate the attention. So I answer the "what animal" question and this is it. With some exceptions here and there.
The temperature thing is true but I broke that rule more than once. Letting them out in the shade and taking water with me. If they feel warm, it's time to go inside.
One thing about the safety I would add is: Make sure the harness fits right. Mine are sensitive when it comes to the harnesses squishing their armpits. They wouldn't take one step with the harnesses in the video.
(By now their harnesses are DIY. And stuff like this definitely should be tested before going into "the wild." Don't want to end up with a lost ferret.)

Great stuff! Different harnesses will definitely work differently on different ferrets! We tried so many kinds, and they were able to escape them all LOL. We started making the Figure - 8 style kind, which they can't escape from; but I can definitely see that it wouldn't work for every ferret.
I saw that you post ferret videos too! We subscribed!

okay so im thinking about getting another ferret its been many years but during the summers it does in fact hit the 90s we now do lots of motocross racing so the track days can get a little hot if we dont bring our travel trailer would it be okay for me to take my critter in the shade at the track with proper ice water and cold spray bottles along with hoping in and out of the air conditioned diesel truck at times with them??

Careful with the hand sanitizer. There’s a reason you’re not supposed to use it & touch a baby...the same would apply to small animals. The alcohol absorbs through the skin

I do have one question can you take your ferret to the mall?My ferret [Also known as Sid] I want to take mine to the mall.

    • @PawsToJourney
      @PawsToJourney  2 роки тому +1

It honestly probably depends on the mall. Most malls have food courts, so I feel a lot of them would say ‘No’. Places we’ve taken our boys are Lowes, Home Depot, JoAnn Fabrics, and of course, pet stores. I always suggest calling in advance to wherever you’re going to take them, because rules vary.
