Love too hear and learn the message of end times in and throughout scripture and how it is proclaimed as one complete theme of the kingdom of God to change the world. The gospel! To understand that God will not stop until He brings justice to the ends of the earth and the coastlands wait for His law. And He will put ll His enemies under His feet. It is glorious! Gives hope in this world to know God is sovereign and reigning no matter what it looks like. Glory to God!

Current times are dark/uncertain. This drives people to seek clarity on the future. So they squeeze (unconsciously) biblical text to fit a narrative they think will happen so they feel in control of their situation rather than accepting the fact that God is in control of everything. I believe that Jeff provides sanity and focus on how Christ's followers should view biblical text and live their lives. This isn't to say that I agree with everything Jeff says, but where we disagree in on unessential topics.

@@joshnelson3344is there something confusing? The Bible teaches the Holy Spirit will show us the things to come....Christ preparing His church for the things to come....so when someone sits back and says all of this is just speed bumps on the way to a Christian world, and can't discern through the Holy Spirit the times and seasons and the puzzle pieces coming into place, then where is the Holy Spirit in that person? Are they suppressing and quenching it, or have they left the faith? I would tend to think the former, but I think the curse of Revelation could apply here (taking away the words of the prophecy - basically the first 20 chapters - by saying they happened in 70 AD)...but for your sake and for Jeff's sake I hope not. But when you butcher scripture like that (i.e. anybody with a reasonable brain can research and find out that John wrote Rev in the 90's AD, well after 70 AD), I mean you've fallen for deceit haven't you?

If I can make a suggestion when going back to those Old Testament quotes. I know it can be a bit daunting, but wherever that quote is coming from read the entire chapter or even sometimes the surrounding chapters. Why? Because in the Hebraic culture, a lot of what they learned was by word of mouth by those in authority over them and Israelites would often memorize large sections of the Scriptures because they did not have the luxury like we do to own their own Bibles. The quotations from the Apostles were meant to trigger their memorization of whole passages, not just reading the verse they were quoting (isolated from the context).
Also another thing, the Apostles often quote from the Greek translation of the Old Testament (from about 200 years before Jesus), this is known as the Greek Septuagint (often abbreviated as LXX). It is important to get your hands on this translation (in English of course) and read it along side your English translation of the Old Testament (translated from the Masoretic Hebrew). Why? Because around A.D. 160, there were some Rabbis who were actively changing and corrupting their Hebrew texts in order to obscure the Messianic prophecies (that Christians were using to prove that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah). These corruptions and changes unfortunately made their way into Masoretic Hebrew texts and it is the Masoretic that is almost exclusively used to translate the Old Testament in our English Bibles. If interested in more of that I can give you several examples of those changes.

Jeff is Postmillennial. Most people misunderstand the Postmillennial position and usually misrepresent it with saying, “those Postmil guys believe the world is going to get better and better…” This is never a slogan from Postmillennialists. We believe that Christ is reigning now, that His Kingdom was established in the 1st century when the Old Covenant was overthrown and destroyed (physically in AD 70) and that the Gospel of the Kingdom will succeed throughout all history. Does this mean that every nation during every time period throughout history was “better?” By no means. There are dips throughout history that seem to lean away from the Gospel at times, but we do not look at these dips as a definitive failure of the Gospel or an end to the Kingdom that Daniel says will never end (Daniel 7:13-14). I often tell people, look at the big picture. The Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ was established by Christ and 12 guys. Fast-forward the next 2,000 years and there are hundreds of millions or even billions of Christ followers. This is not what I would call getting worse. History is saturated with Gospel succession and Kingdom expansion. If all we do is look at the last 50 or 100 years over a span of 2,000 years, then of course we are going to believe “we lose down here…” There is hope for the Kingdom of God to continue as it always has. But we need our worldview to change. If we believe things are going to get worse or even believe it is suppose to, then we will do nothing to change that. But if we believe as the Apostles believed in the midst of Jewish and Roman persecutions that the nations belong to Christ, then we will begin to see the world and the Great Commission differently.

The imagery used through the New Testament especially in Revelation is not by accident or coincidence. It is used in order to bring the reader into remembrance of past judgments that have occurred to Israel.

"We will not, however, incur the risk of pronouncing positively as to the name of Antichrist; for if it were necessary that his name should be distinctly revealed in this present time, it would have been announced by him who beheld the apocalyptic vision. For that was seen no very long time since, but almost in our day, towards the end of Domitian's reign."
Domitian reigned from 81-96 A.D., so a 95 A.D. date is very solid and likely and Irenaeus was Polycarp's disciple (whom himself was the disciple of the Apostle John) and Irenaeus lived in the 2nd century, so if I think I'll side with him on this.

Read the Parable of the Ten Minas in Luke 19: “…because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. He said therefore, ‘A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.’”
Reading the Bible in context, at face value, with proper attention paid to author and audience will only lead one to conclude that restoration and a Christianization of national Israel is a future event brought about through the events of the Tribulation, Daniel’s 70th week, the time of Jacob’s trouble, whatever biblical phrase you want to use.
Then, and only then, “After the tribulation of those days… Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

Small stone cut out of rock not with human hands which slowly grows into a mountain that fills the whole earth

Good video, brother! Although I don't hold to postmillennialism or preterism, I can understand this. Ever since I was saved by the Lord, I've noticed in the Scriptures (and this is only by the Holy Spirit) that God's prophecies always have an immediate fulfillment and a distant fulfillment in God's time. For example, the prophecy of the Lord Jesus Christ in Isaiah 7 has an immediate fulfillment with Isaiah's son who was to be born at that time and in that situation, but the main focus is on the Messiah later. Then the prophecies concerning the nations of Assyria, Babylon, Medes, and Persia and how they all reflect the Day of the Lord in 70 A.D. and the Day of the Lord at the end in the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. When the Lord speaks, He speaks in the past, present, and future tense all at the same time. So while the prophecies in the Old and New Testaments speak of immediate fulfillment, I still believe that they also speak of future events, given the nature of God. God bless and may He continue to use you for His glory!

      @eclipsesonic 3 години тому +1

Yes. We could also look at it as dual fulfilment or already, but not yet type prophecy. The abomination of desolation in Daniel 11 is a great example of this. The first fulfilment happened in 167 B.C. with Antiochus Epiphanes (which led to the Maccabean revolt and the celebration of Hanukkah, also known as the feast of dedication in John 10:22), but Jesus talked about it in the future tense in Matthew 24 and Mark 13, implying that Daniel 11:31 has dual fulfilment.

The key is the parable of the fig tree in Matthew 24.
"Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near - at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place."
The fig tree in the Bible represents Israel because fig trees are native to Israel. What Jesus was saying was that when we see Israel become a nation again, that is when endtime events will occur and the generation that was born when Israel becomes a nation will not die out before the events occur. Israel just celebrated its 76th anniversary. Most people live between 75-100 years old. I believe that we are going to be in the great tribulation in the next few years.

That he was in the synagogues, preaching this every Sabbath? Are the branches who don’t believe, broken off as the wild olive branches are grafted in? Read Romans 11 in the context of the whole chapter and consider that some in Israel at that time, were elect, and meant to learn this new means of grace eventually, just as Paul did. I know people believe that Revelation was written before 70 A.D. but here's why I don't think that. Here is what the church father Irenaeus said about the date of Revelation, in Against Heresies, Book V, Chapter 30:

This interpretation is not very good. Go read Zechariah 12-14. Isaiah 60-66. Ezekiel 40-48. Jeff wants to spiritualize all that. Lots of unfulfilled prophecy. Rev 20 clearly distinguishes a 1000 year earthly reign. Jewish apocalyptic texts speak of 1) the suffering servant 2) the reigning king. Jesus fulfilled the suffering servant prophecies. The kingdom has been inaugurated. We have yet to see the fulfillment of earthly judgement, tribulation, and restoration to Israel and the whole of creation with Christ as king on earth.
Jeff holds to replacement theology, but God's promises are irrevocable. Gen 12'15'17. Replacement theology means the church is the new Israel. 1) why would the new testament authors trouble distinguishing Jews from gentiles 100's of times? 2) read Romans 9-12 3) read the prophecies specifically addressed to Israel in the OT. 4) read all passages in their context.
Hopefully that gets you on the right track. Shalom, may the grace of the Lord Jesus be upon you and your family.

'Let the scriptures interpret the Scriptures.' Whatever conclusions anyone arrives at, if it contradicts the obvious meaning when reading a New Testament book independently from all other scriptures, that is an unethical application. The reason is because that is disrespecting the author of that composition. I'm not saying Jeff, or anyone at Apologia Church, is doing that. But, this didn't get mentioned. IMO, in the first instance of reading any book, a person should try to understand what the author intended to say to the intended audience, and try to comprehend the composition without importing concepts by other authors in other books, where possible. Some of the time that's not possible, like when an author explicitly cites a different book, but often this is possible.

Just to understand, you interpret Revelation is a “review of past events” that had already occurred, instead of interpreting it as a prediction of “future events to come” … is this correct?
When Jesus came the first time part of the evidence he provided was fulfilling over 300 Old Testament prophesies. So staying true to character (as god does) when he comes a second time, he will have evidence of his identity and he will once again fulfill prophesy. What prophesy? Revelation. Right?!
I hear your position as you compare revelation to the past as though it’s a review, and I’m not saying you’re wrong. What I’m saying is that all these events will happen again, same but different, as prediction and evidence for the second coming of Christ.
Revelation seems to be a book of prophesy to be fulfilled so Christ brings evidence as he did prior. It doesn’t seem to be just a past review.
I am not a biblical scholar. I don’t know for sure. I couldn’t even win a debate on the situation. But Gods character has been to predict future events, show up and fufill those as evidence and it seems his character stays the same and thus we need future prophesy not to scare us, but just to provide evidence when he comes to fufill a second time.

So so rich in world history but in particular the interpretation of the statue from the King's dream. Babylon, Medes/Persians, Greeks, and thennnnnn the Islamic Caliphate. Not Rome. I'm still studying myself but Joel Richardson explains it perfectly in a way that requires zero mental gymnastics and it's explained with academic literature/historians. Rome never destroyed the Greeks. The greeks were assimilated, improved, protected, etc... and Daniel's interpretation required the conquering people to destroy the land the Babylonians ruled on. In fact, the Roman kingdom didn't even reach the land where Babylon even was... However, the Islamic Caliphate completely destroyed and conquered all of the land of Babylon and most of all of the land Rome occupied.
There so so much more to dive into and consider if the AC is indeed to rise from a revived Islamic Caliphate.
It's a fascinating teaching and read from Joel Richardson. Available for free on his website. Don't have pay a nickel. He's preaching and teaching this since the early 2000's.

Jeff believes there is no coming tribulation and all of Revelation up to chapter 20 was fulfilled in 70 AD. It is very easy to prove him wrong using a little church history and common sense. I am not saying church history replaces the Bible, but hear me out. John wrote revelation and discipled Polycarp who then discipled and taught Iraneus. These men did not teach any fulfillment of these things in 70 AD whatsoever and lived beyond this time. Polycarp lived from 69-155 AD, Iraneus from 130-202 AD. Moreover, the vast majority of the early church fathers for the first few centuries believed in what is called Historic Premillenialism (which is in opposition to the 70 AD fulfillment), which is exactly why it is named as such - "Historical". Wouldn’t common sense imply that historic premil wouldn’t be the majority opinion if this all occurred in 70 AD, given they held to this position after this date? Rather, the majority of the early church fathers, some with direct or near direct contact with John, would simply have adopted the preterist viewpoint of Revelation (and Matt 24, Luke 21, Mark 13 etc) and we probably wouldn't even be discussing this. But that’s not all what they believed. Why is that then? How can we ignore such a simple truth, and throw this kind of church history out the door especially when some of these men had such close ties to the apostles themselves? Does scripture teach the church will gradually build up to a full realization of the faith, or does it say the faith was once for all delivered to the saints and that in the latter times people would not endure sound doctrine anymore (2 Tim 4:3-4)?
I can't emphasize this enough, the church is less than a handful of decades old by 70 AD, yet the majority if not all the church fathers that followed this time remained Historical Premil? You have to cast this type of basic history aside and throw all those early church fathers under the bus for not understanding eschatology and what actually happened in 70AD.
Further, going back to Iraneus, again taught by Polycarp who was directly taught by John the author of Revelation, he (Iraneus) wrote in his famous book "Against Heresies" that John authored Revelation at the end of Domitian's reign, he ruled from 81 to 96 AD. So how can a prophetic book be written after the prophecies have almost entirely been fulfilled, or completely fulfilled if you're a full preterist?

The Apostle Paul dismantles the entire foundation that Dispensationalism is built on (God having two distinct people groups). The true offspring of Abraham and those to whom the promises are given are all who are in Jesus Christ.
      Galatians 3:26-29 (ESV)
[26] for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. [27] For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. [28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [29] And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
This is so clearly laid out in Ephesians 2.
      Ephesians 2:11-22 (ESV)
[11] Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands- [12] remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. [13] But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. [14] For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility [15] by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, [16] and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. [17] And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. [18] For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. [19] So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, [20] built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, [21] in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. [22] In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
True Israel is Christ’s ekklesia (Church).

The world is already in the tribulation probably since 2023, Jesus will come after it, just at the very start of God's wrath; genuine believers will be saved from the wrath of God as it is LITERALLY described (you are leveling literal and hyperboly to be the same, but the tone of the writers and context says you are wrong), not the great tribulation (in Greek: big pressureful grief, μεγάλη θλίψη).
Joel speaks of two stages of a prophecy, but it's separated by a huge time gap of grace. The wrath of God (not on His believers of course) is the second stage and it is what Jesus is talking about in Μatt.24:29-31 and Luke 21:23-28, 34-36 and Rev.3:10(&21:35),16:1-4.

The amillennial position is that the 1000 years is not a literal 1000 years and refers to Christ reigning over his kingdom from heaven for the entire period of time from his ascension to his second coming.

Actually it's not clear. Jesus specifically said THIS GENERATION will not pass away. He was talking to those alive at the time, not us...WE are REIGNING with Him now. Go & spread the GOOD NEWS of the GOSPEL of CHRIST..

I agree that we should all read our Bibles Biblically, and in context, that's how we know that positions like Amil and Postmil are not positions that Christians can hold, based on the words of Jesus.
In Matthew 19:28, 25:31-34, Jesus says that He will assume His glorious Davidic throne and reign over Israel *in the regeneration* - this takes place at the time of His bodily second coming when He comes in glory and with all of the angels with Him, at the time of the sheep and the goats judgment when He will judge the nations of the earth, separating believers from unbelievers, *and not before* (cf. Luke 1:32-33, 2 Samuel 7:12-13, 17, Isaiah 9:7, Revelation 3:21).
Since Postmil and Amil positions assert that Jesus is now sitting on His glorious Davidic throne, when in fact He isn't, we know those positions are false. Jesus specifically says that He is NOT yet reigning on the Davidic throne.
