I tried making one, I've managed to create a book, although it's not quite finished yet. But it's too small and flimsy to keep reliably. But I've come up with ideas and a design for a new one I hope to make eventually. So one day I'll have one that I've made myself. I also hope to make my own tarot deck on day as I am an artistic person and I feel that putting my creative energies into wicca will make my connection stronger

I myself come from a family where my biological father is an evangelical pastor (We don't get along 😂 And he doesn't even know I practice the Craft in any way) I personally enjoy this path because it is open to so many interpretations. And that most Wiccan individuals try to not harm others only help them. I personally use the Christian God as part of my Craft though many around me do not understand why. I’m 12 and looking into getting into Wicca. It’s just I don’t know where to start. My aunt who almost was a Wiccan taught me some things about Wicca. She got me a pentagram for a necklace and I absolutely love it. And today I got my first book of Shadows. I don’t have anything else besides these things but I’m going to be putting a lot of information about moon phases and what different cristal do and their meanings. Thank you! I have my BOS/ grimoire in a travelers notebook. It’s adorable! If my coven brothers and sisters want to see my grimoire, I just cleanse it later that night in moonlight and sage it to get rid of the foreign energy.
@MACARENA MALDONADO SARMIENTO a book of shadows is just a fancier way of calling your bullet journal, you're just adding more witchy things in it. It's supposed to be whatever makes you comfortable, and if checkered paper does that, then nothing stops you from using it! I'm just a baby witch who had dabbled in book binding (kinda hard not to with all the scrapbooks my teachers make me do), and my first bos is gonna be tea-stained paper between simple pieces of board, and ribbon bound! Hello, I really love your channel and I am very thankful to you for sharing all your useful information on Wicca and Witchcraft. I purchased Scott Cunningham's guide book on Wicca, and I intend to learn as much as I can. I was very interested in Wicca as a child and I used to read books and I remember feeling completely enamored in states of wonder and intrigue. I am a very spiritual person who believes in the vibrations of energy, but I seem to have veered off from my path. I am able to practice advanced meditation with crystals but I have always felt as if something else was missing. A way to introduced a daily routine that is connected with knowledge and follows a path of wisdom. I know that this will make me stronger, and will help me to let go of my older self to become anew. I actually do have the perfect leather bound journal to use as my book of shadows. It was given to me from my brother as a gift and I have been waiting patiently for its purpose. I am also an artist that is going through college to obtain an undergraduate degree, and I know that this higher sense of understanding will help me carry onto my journey into mastery. Emi E. , It is your own practice so there is nothing that you could do “wrong”. Do what feels right to you. You can write notes and anything else in any book you like.
Good advice :) I think that it's very important to allow yourself to explore and experiment in your book.... it's not just a collection of information, it's a journey through your practice, it's a record of your experiments, it's a way for you to learn and keep track of how things develop.
Thank you all your videos help me so much I'm a broom closet witch with a Christian mother who would never support me and kill me if she found out. The only person I would be comfortable telling I'm a witch is my sister but only because she is a witch too, kinda she doesn't practice spells but she does some of the things. Read and research everything than make a pocket altar so that you can have a sacred space for yourself. However use what you have and the free items such as magazines pictures for the elements and keep notes on everything you learn. Don't try to do spells quite yet until you have mastered the research and learning first. Take notes on what you have learned than you can decide on what you want to specialize your craft or practice to be all about. When I was 18, I wish I had someone share this with me.
Is it okay if I make my book of shadows as a word document? I feel like I will be able to keep it more organized because I could easily move things around.
I know that I'm like 4 months late (and I'm still suppperrr new to the craft), but definately! A book of shadows is what you make it to be- it could be a beautiful bounded book with tea-stained paper or a messy notebook with stickynotes fallin out of it- or anything in between! I read somewhere that to give your book of shadows your energy and the energy of the elements , to, like, put it under your pillow when you sleep so that you can give to it your energy and like put it near a heat source or put a drop of water on his cover, and things like these, and I actually slept with it and i burned the angle of one of his pages (because I also wanna give to it the elements energy),now I actually feel a bond between me and my book. ^^

Yes, same process as with any regular cleansing. Smudge sticks, salt water baths (be careful, as not every crystal can touch water as for example selenite) or full moon 'baths', and as an extra step you would simply focus on removing any energy that comes from another person
Salt burials also work great just put the object in a bag of salt (that’s slightly open to let the energy out) I did this with my tarot deck. It works great
I have an inkbox tattoo kit so I tattooed a small pentagram on the bottom of my leg since I can't access any sort of jewelry with a pentagram on at the moment. But I still wanted to be protected.

(I’m a baby witch btw so I’m not the most educated on this) Basically the difference between a grimoire and BoS is a BoS is more personal to you. A grimoire only has facts and information in it while a BoS does have facts and research in it too but you can write about opinions and experiences you have had in witchcraft.

A blessing on your first page could honestly be anything that you would want to bless your book with so for example that it will help you in your journey and that it is staying safe from negative energy or eyes that should not see it or for example that it always stays safe from damage. You can then also add a blessing towards yourself and your journey too. There are some online that you can use as inspiration or you can write it by yourself. Maybe if you like writing poems you could even do it like that :)
So every time I see something about a book of shadows it is always a leather cover book, that’s string down, and sometimes have symbols engraved on the cover, do you have to have that type of book or can you have just a journal or school notebook

The mere fact you are working on your own Book of Shadows; writing in it, dedicating time to it, puts your energy to it. It is yours because it is compiled by you and only you have access to it.

1. Anything you like! You can create your own poem, or find a guideline online, but usually it is something along the lines of “May this book be protected and blessed, may it help me in my journey” (just longer usually) 2. You would research the different paths and follow the path you connect with most. I have a video on Wiccan Paths! But on a side note, sometimes people discover that they prefer Witchcraft as a practice over Wicca as Wicca is a religion :) This should also answer 4. And for 3. If you don’t work with any spirits you don’t have to put anything. I for example say I work mostly with nature spirits, but you might work with ancestral spirits or with water spirits etc etc 5. Sabbats are the 8 celebrations in the year following the seasonal changes and the rise and fall of the Goddess and God in Wicca :)
can you have more than one book of shadows? or remake your bos? i want to start note keeping but would like to eventually bind my own book because making it from scratch will make me feel very connected to it. but i dont have the material yet, so can i start with a basic notebook and eventually move my notes to a better book of shadows?
Wait a second- a dedication page for what? And what if you don’t know what type of witch you are yet, or spirits and deities? Where do I start with thisssss I’m sorry I’m new
No worries, we all start somewhere! So path wise (or what type of witch): you really don’t need to have that figured out straight away yet and more often than not it will come with time and experience as then you will know better what your daily practices and interests are. The same can be said for deities, and on top of that, a lot of people will never choose specific deities to work with (or any at all). In Wicca, you could simply believe in The God and The Goddess and leave it at that. A dedication page is essentially a first page which you write, which includes for example what your intentions are for the book, what your goals are, what you dedicate yourself for, and what your book will be used for. It can also include a written spell for protecting your book, for example ‘I dedicate this Book to learning and growth, may it be protected from negative thoughts and jealous eyes’.
A book blessing is for example a page, usually the first page or maybe the last page, in which you write down a few simple things you wish to bless your book with so for example: “I bless this book, may it stay protected and divert curious eyes. May it stay protected from harm or negativity. May it inspire me and keep me on track of my path. So mote it be” It doesn’t have to be anything ‘fancy’ though you could do a full poem is you like poetry, or it could be in song form etc. You can also draw your blessing or have a page full of runes. 🙏🏼 hope I was able to clarify that
That sounds like an awesome idea, although I believe bos's are meant to be very personal. Maybe you could have a family grimoire (like a bos but not personal but just the practical stuff) and also have a book of shadows which is personal to the specific person at the same time. Just some tips! But a family book of shadows could still be done, your choice. I hope this helps, I'm only a baby wiccan witch so I may be wrong.

If you look at ALL religions in the world, there is an element of truth running through all of them, including Wicca. No single religion has a monopoly. Haleigh, Christianity can't tell you who or what God is. God must be All in All. God must be genderless, both male and female. God has always been. Just as there has never been a time when water was not wet, there has never been a time that God was not. As a Christian who is exploring Wicca, I think it is reasonable to accept that the Wiccan God and Goddess are just two aspects of the Divine. Together they are what we call nature and nature is the law of God, the medium through which God works. When the Christian priest breaks bread or sips wine, he is performing magic. When he kneels at the altar and lights a candle and says a prayer, he is performing magic. Wicca is not so different and in fact if you brought an alien to the planet who knew nothing of religion, he may assume the witch and the priest are doing the same thing and that is because in fact they are doing the same thing. They are attempting to get closer to the Divine. So don't let a Christian label stop you from exploring Wicca.

Witchcraft is a universal practice meant for harnessing energy/manifesting for yourself. I am a cosmic witch and I use tarot cards,crystals,and meditation and I am just starting to do spells and energy harnessing. There is no certain way you do things. I am an Eclectic witch meaning I don't resort to one certain practice I use multiple. Witchcraft is something personal to you and however you practice it doesn't matter if you are using that energy for your growth and spiritual journey

I personally love the book ‘Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells’ by Judika Illes really great, but I do also recommend creating your own spells, as they contain your own energies and some say these are more powerful

I have my BOS/ grimoire in a travelers notebook. It’s adorable! If my coven brothers and sisters want to see my grimoire, I just cleanse it later that night in moonlight and sage it to get rid of the foreign energy.

Hello, I really love your channel and I am very thankful to you for sharing all your useful information on Wicca and Witchcraft. I purchased Scott Cunningham's guide book on Wicca, and I intend to learn as much as I can. I was very interested in Wicca as a child and I used to read books and I remember feeling completely enamored in states of wonder and intrigue. I am a very spiritual person who believes in the vibrations of energy, but I seem to have veered off from my path. I am able to practice advanced meditation with crystals but I have always felt as if something else was missing. A way to introduced a daily routine that is connected with knowledge and follows a path of wisdom. I know that this will make me stronger, and will help me to let go of my older self to become anew. I actually do have the perfect leather bound journal to use as my book of shadows. It was given to me from my brother as a gift and I have been waiting patiently for its purpose. I am also an artist that is going through college to obtain an undergraduate degree, and I know that this higher sense of understanding will help me carry onto my journey into mastery. Good advice :) I think that it's very important to allow yourself to explore and experiment in your book.... it's not just a collection of information, it's a journey through your practice, it's a record of your experiments, it's a way for you to learn and keep track of how things develop.
Thank you all your videos help me so much I'm a broom closet witch with a Christian mother who would never support me and kill me if she found out. The only person I would be comfortable telling I'm a witch is my sister but only because she is a witch too, kinda she doesn't practice spells but she does some of the things. I got a binder that has alot of witchy symbols on it, and I'm gonna put paper in it, I can't wait to start my book of shadows!
Read and research everything than make a pocket altar so that you can have a sacred space for yourself. However use what you have and the free items such as magazines pictures for the elements and keep notes on everything you learn. Don't try to do spells quite yet until you have mastered the research and learning first. Take notes on what you have learned than you can decide on what you want to specialize your craft or practice to be all about. When I was 18, I wish I had someone share this with me.

A book of shadows is what you make it to be- it could be a beautiful bounded book with tea-stained paper or a messy notebook with stickynotes fallin out of it- or anything in between! How do you start up a dedication/ blessing page?
I read somewhere that to give your book of shadows your energy and the energy of the elements , to, like, put it under your pillow when you sleep so that you can give to it your energy and like put it near a heat source or put a drop of water on his cover, and things like these, and I actually slept with it and i burned the angle of one of his pages (because I also wanna give to it the elements energy),now I actually feel a bond between me and my book. ^^
There definitely a loads of techniques you can use to bond with your BoS, and I do like the idea of the elements (as long as it’s done safely)

Yes, same process as with any regular cleansing. Smudge sticks, salt water baths (be careful, as not every crystal can touch water as for example selenite) or full moon 'baths', and as an extra step you would simply focus on removing any energy that comes from another person

Salt burials also work great just put the object in a bag of salt (that’s slightly open to let the energy out) I did this with my tarot deck. It works great

what the difference between a grimoire and a BoS?
(I’m a baby witch btw so I’m not the most educated on this) Basically the difference between a grimoire and BoS is a BoS is more personal to you. A grimoire only has facts and information in it while a BoS does have facts and research in it too but you can write about opinions and experiences you have had in witchcraft.

A blessing on your first page could honestly be anything that you would want to bless your book with so for example that it will help you in your journey and that it is staying safe from negative energy or eyes that should not see it or for example that it always stays safe from damage. You can then also add a blessing towards yourself and your journey too. There are some online that you can use as inspiration or you can write it by yourself. Maybe if you like writing poems you could even do it like that :)

So every time I see something about a book of shadows it is always a leather cover book, that’s string down, and sometimes have symbols engraved on the cover, do you have to have that type of book or can you have just a journal or school notebook
A journal is fine, I keep a phone notes one as well which is great for on the go and voice to text as well

How do i transfer my energy to my BoS?
The mere fact you are working on your own Book of Shadows; writing in it, dedicating time to it, puts your energy to it. It is yours because it is compiled by you and only you have access to it.

1. Anything you like! You can create your own poem, or find a guideline online, but usually it is something along the lines of “May this book be protected and blessed, may it help me in my journey” (just longer usually)
2. You would research the different paths and follow the path you connect with most. I have a video on Wiccan Paths! But on a side note, sometimes people discover that they prefer Witchcraft as a practice over Wicca as Wicca is a religion :) This should also answer 4. And for 3. If you don’t work with any spirits you don’t have to put anything. I for example say I work mostly with nature spirits, but you might work with ancestral spirits or with water spirits etc etc 5. Sabbats are the 8 celebrations in the year following the seasonal changes and the rise and fall of the Goddess and God in Wicca :)

No worries, we all start somewhere! So path wise (or what type of witch): you really don’t need to have that figured out straight away yet and more often than not it will come with time and experience as then you will know better what your daily practices and interests are.
The same can be said for deities, and on top of that, a lot of people will never choose specific deities to work with (or any at all). In Wicca, you could simply believe in The God and The Goddess and leave it at that.
A dedication page is essentially a first page which you write, which includes for example what your intentions are for the book, what your goals are, what you dedicate yourself for, and what your book will be used for. It can also include a written spell for protecting your book, for example ‘I dedicate this Book to learning and growth, may it be protected from negative thoughts and jealous eyes’.
Im still a bit confused what does she mean by a blessing?
A book blessing is for example a page, usually the first page or maybe the last page, in which you write down a few simple things you wish to bless your book with so for example: “I bless this book, may it stay protected and divert curious eyes. May it stay protected from harm or negativity. May it inspire me and keep me on track of my path. So mote it be”
It doesn’t have to be anything ‘fancy’ though you could do a full poem is you like poetry, or it could be in song form etc. You can also draw your blessing or have a page full of runes. 🙏🏼 hope I was able to clarify that

That sounds like an awesome idea, although I believe bos's are meant to be very personal. Maybe you could have a family grimoire (like a bos but not personal but just the practical stuff) and also have a book of shadows which is personal to the specific person at the same time. Just some tips! But a family book of shadows could still be done, your choice. I hope this helps, I'm only a baby wiccan witch so I may be wrong.

Haleigh, Christianity can't tell you who or what God is. God must be All in All. God must be genderless, both male and female. God has always been. Just as there has never been a time when water was not wet, there has never been a time that God was not. As a Christian who is exploring Wicca, I think it is reasonable to accept that the Wiccan God and Goddess are just two aspects of the Divine. Together they are what we call nature and nature is the law of God, the medium through which God works. When the Christian priest breaks bread or sips wine, he is performing magic. When he kneels at the altar and lights a candle and says a prayer, he is performing magic. Wicca is not so different and in fact if you brought an alien to the planet who knew nothing of religion, he may assume the witch and the priest are doing the same thing and that is because in fact they are doing the same thing. They are attempting to get closer to the Divine. So don't let a Christian label stop you from exploring Wicca.

Witchcraft is a universal practice meant for harnessing energy/manifesting for yourself. I am a cosmic witch and I use tarot cards,crystals,and meditation and I am just starting to do spells and energy harnessing. There is no certain way you do things. I am an Eclectic witch meaning I don't resort to one certain practice I use multiple. Witchcraft is something personal to you and however you practice it doesn't matter if you are using that energy for your growth and spiritual journey

hello, baby witch here! in regards to bos, can I put non-witch related stuff there, for example my poetries? also, can anyone give me some tips about how to hide my bos and not make it clear that it’s connected to spirits and stuff, i’m still a closet witch, and my parents are both very conservatives christian, so if they find out they might kick me out (i’m still a minor) so i’m kind of scared of them reading my bos (they have read my personal stuff before). I personally love the book ‘Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells’ by Judika Illes really great, but I do also recommend creating your own spells, as they contain your own energies and some say these are more powerful
