Expanding on the binder idea, I like to keep all of my pages in happy planners. That way you can reorganize & remove things as necessary, plus I find it looks aesthetically appealing to my personal tastes. You can buy a happy planner punch & put literally anything in a happy planner. Hope this helps someone. 💕✨
love it! my book of shawdows is a leather marauders map from harry potter😂 but definitely once i fill it up i’ll think about starting a binder but i love books so idkkk
This is exactly what I have done. I am just starting out with collecting information and with the discs and hard cover, it makes it so easy to print out pages, punching, and add it to my book. So easy. And if I don’t like the cover, or disc color, or where I keep my pages I can move and remove everything and start over. I love it
Yes! A binder! I have been using a binder for several years now. For so long I struggled with being scared to write in the lovely notebooks and fancy tomes in my collection and would abandon them part way through. Your binder is gorgeous! I bought a binder and decorated it myself and made my own dividers for it (I've been meaning to make a video on how I did mine). I also found Benebell Wen's video on how to organise a grimoire/BoS really useful (she uses the structure of a cookbook as a basis). I prefer A5 and work on simple lined refill paper. I don't worry about making it pretty, just readable and usable. It's been such a game changer for me and my perfectionism. One day I'd like to make a fancy personal Grimoire that is full of my distilled practices. One day...
I thought I was crazy for not being able to start one so I started a binder too. But seeing everyone elses really pretty books made me set it aside and give up. You inspired me to pick it back up again🥰thank you🥰also I like your little shelf in the background
It is SO hard to not compare ourselves to others! I've put off my BOS for years, and I'm a fricken artist, lol. Because I was overwhelmed by "everyone elses". I think that makes us lose ourselves though. I just got my journal today to start. So glad you decided to, as well!
Your books can be digital too. It's easier for me to type things out and cut and paste photos, symbols etc. There is nothing wrong with a digital grimoire. Especially if, like me, you live in a small space and don't have room for loads of books.
Can I just say a massive thank you for all of this information!! For me as I am just starting out on my witchcraft journey I am just researching different things at the moment this helped me so so much with the difference of grimoires and the book of shadows. Thank you!
This is super interesting! I've been considering witchcraft for a while and was super confused/worried about starting a Book of Shadows vs a Grimoire. I'm actually starting to get interested in it again because I'm writing a companion book series with magic in it and that follows someone's journey through witchcraft.
You're like me; I type my pages out also before writing them out. and having a binder for a book of shadows; was something I read in one of Silver Ravenwolf's books a long time ago. Thanks for helping me to feel that I'm not the only one! Blessed be
Thanks a lot. I'm a mother and I've a job so I need to get things done. That's why my book of Shadows is a regular copybook in which in can mess up as much as I can and I love it. It's messy and perfect that way. I'd like to buy a beautiful one now and mess it that way too.
I started my Book of Wisdom recently, using a pretty notebook I was given a while ago and never found a good enough use for. One thing I did was draw inspiration from bullet journalling: I numbered each page, then set aside the last few pages as an index. When I make an entry I give it a title and write that next to the relevant page number/s in the index. Means I can find entries easily when I need them
I've gone through so many videos on how to start my book of shadows and thank you so much for helping me out your video has been one of two videos out of thousands of videos that actually help me out when starting my journey
I'm on a budget at the moment until autumn, but I your video finally gave me the motivation to start with my digital Grimoire. I am doing so much research and Wicca is such a fascinating topic. I will be doing a physical grimoire once I'm financially able to. Starting with Wicca has been on the back of my mind since 2014. And I'm so grateful that there are so many Content Creators who share their experience with Newbies like me. Blessed be.
I made a beautiful hand made book of shadows is 2020 , it’s leather bound , I used cannabis stems to create the pentagram under the leather to make a 3d pentagram and I put seeds inside it, on the back I put the eye of Horus in gold flakes and I put coins along the side and I put ribbon bound into it to mark the pages. It’s cost 400$ to make . So needless to say I’ve been afraid to write in it and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to put in it, but now that I watched this video I’m going to put my practices into it and information that I value. and I’m so excited and inspired! Thank you!!!!
Great video. I am among those who has a lovely leather journal that has remained unused for probably close to a decade because I'm being far too precious about it. Like you, a binder works best for me because then I can just relax and put whatever I want in it, knowing I can rearrange it at any time. Much less pressure that way. I love the "About Me" idea for deities you've worked with. What a great way to journal your experiences and UPG, as well as your reflections on the work you did with them.
I've had the same issue with beautiful notebooks. I have so many sitting empty... I've chosen to use my iPad now. Eventually I'll print out the pages and make a paper form - but it's easy to carry, easy to fix mistakes, easy to rearrange & easy to add art to without hesitation! :)
I agree with you 100% I also use a binder alongside a pretty book. The binder holds a lot of the more important information while the pretty one is filled with different spells, meditation stuff, etc.
My first bos was a box of shadows....an index box with color index cards and their alphabet dividers....I actually had 2 cause I had so much info....many many moons later I had regular composition notebooks while I waited for the "right" book I would find....2 yrs ago I finally found it...turns out it is a family geneology bible that is very popular here in the states....I got it brand new for $3 and I love it cause its extremely thick but surpisingly its as light as a feather...Idk how that works but its been wonderful taking my time creating it into my grimoire....thank you for this video...I LOVE YOUR SWEATER 💜🐾
Yes! Once I got passed the feeling that I needed a fancy BoS, I made a binder with a few broad categories and made lists of subjects I wanted to research and expand on in each category. So if anything comes to mind that I want to research, I just add it to one of the lists. When I can, I pick a subject on one of the lists and create it’s own page to write notes on my research.
Hi UA-cam recommended your video! This video made me really think about what to put in my final book of shadows! Thank you for putting examples in this video! Thanks again for making this helpful video!
I actually have a book of shadows (but it's a binder so... binder of shadows) and a notebook that I repurposed to use for a spiritual journal. I use the journal for studying and information and examining my beliefs (and sometimes manifesting) and I use my bos for things I want to reference later, like deities and correlations. I just find it more convenient and organized for me.
I included my favorite go to books i use and the books that helped me get started. I used sketch books and print things out and glue them in it and make side notes.
Right now, I have a very random notebook of correspondences for herbs, rocks, colors and encantations. One day I'll compile it because my craft is always what I feel in the moment to mix and match things. This was helpful! Thanks!
i have a 5 subject journal i use as a book of shadows that i use just for notes spells rituals love your book of shadows you have done a wonderful job with it blessed be
Hi nice to meet you. UA-cam suggested ypur video to me so in glad to find your channel. Im a big fan of tjese kinds of videos. I'm new to keeping a book like this but I have been collecting supplies and elements to create a book to keep notes on. Thanks for the video and inspiration
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been looking for one that has this specific information xo thank you so much. Subscribed 🤗 I brought my first one yesterday excited to use. And I’m abit of a perfectionist too 😅💗
Love this I’m the same too scared to write in my fancy books will be getting a binder tomorrow and I also have a Pinterest board ... well 2/3 actually for all the things I want to save to learn about or spell ideas ect all on there ready for when I need them never lost 😂💚👍

I have an ordinary stationary binder or ring file and I hate mine, I have so many dividers in it and I keep on mapping out a contents page for what I want to include in there but I never start it. I’m officially abandoning my file grimoire project now, fuck it. I keep an Omni journal brain dump 🧠 💩. It’s not exclusively spiritual but it’s all I can do. Loved your video thank you. I also heard that being a witch is primarily about your practice and what we actually do, so a book of shadows should record what I do at the altar and how I cast circle and what I do in the circle at the altar and then how to dispel the circle ⭕️ and thank the spirits. And a book of mirrors is about personal reflections of a spiritual nature. I recently heard of something called a “commonplace “ book that a lot of famous people kept throughout history, it’s along the vibe. I think you record in it certain concepts, ideas and wisdom you learn through your life. So yeah, it’s fun. Lovely to watch thank you. 🧠💀🍼😂🍸👼🏾🧚♂️👻🧙🏾♂️💝🤯🥶

I write in pencil first.. Good I did coz I believed gotta be this and that how other magic(k) practitioner's say. Now Ik better and use as inspiration and DIY everything in my craft to be fully personal. I plan to write in pencil and see if anything like that change and erase it. Anyway, grimor is like teaching book in my eye's, like witchcraft learning book or whatever. Also I remember Grimor is from Wicca. Hmm.. Meh! I would write grimor if I wanna teach.. for now just book of shadows.. books.. I'm just too lazy now lol. Besaids I don't wanna keep buying more. I wish here be thick paged like that..

I love the new generation of witches ...Open and very creative.
The new generation of witches are so boring and tame in comparison to old school witches.

Hellooooo! New to your chanel and super appreciate all of the information and ideas you have shared.
Thanks so much
Writing a book of shadows sounds fun, I'm in Thelema and Satanism, it sounds like a good way to journal down your path like a textbook of knowledge important to you, I need to get a hold of a proper book I have a little notebook
Could you give the link to the Etsy page you got that pentacle binder at?
I try a levitation spell on a book and it works but I want to make it work on water and rocks how can I do that? Because it only works with the books
Can you please make a video of some simple spells:(💜
Thanks for suggesting this! I'll definitely have a think about it :)
thank you sm for this

I am also looking into black salt and how to make it?
Meraviglioso, affascinante ed emmozionante. Sei estremamente espressivo. Grazie!
Hello, how do you find the right information, when people have different opinions and say what works and what doesn't work? Please, thank you.
Bess you all.
Do you use Florida water and if so what is it?
The book of shadows is supposed to be perfectly imperfect just like humans and nature and everything else in the cosmos. Also I am trying to learn Old Norse and both Old and modern Icelandic which has given me ideas already and I have also seen runic writing i just don't know how to translate the earliest version of Old Norse as far as runic goes. And there's actually three different styles of the elder futhark runes not limited to Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. Blessed be and stay safe
12:30 oooh a little ASMR finger drumming on the lovely hard leather cover? 😋
I sometimes copy/paste information from books into my Book of Shadows, is this ok? I think I heard from somewhere that this is not a good idea.
Off topic, I started reading about sabbaths yesterday but many of the books that I read are written in a Wiccan perspective and for this gets confusing regarding all the rituals. Anyway, is it OK for a solitary witch who's not Wiccan to observe sabbaths and maybe even celebrate the holidays I normally celebrate (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc.). I still consider myself Catholic although I practice witchcraft.
Hi I've just started with witchcraft and I also began reading auras and I tried to read yours (I hope it's oke for you if not I apologize I will never do it again) since I need a bit practice and I saw a blue or a turquoise aura I'm not sure since I'm just an beginner but I can already tell that it's fun
I hope to not come across as rude, but you should always ask permission *before* you read people, not after. It is considered rude and invasive to be read without consent, and this applies for auras or any divination method. I appreciate that you're a beginner so you may not have known this, but now you know and make sure you always ask permission first!
How have things evolved/changed for you since doing this video?
Could you please please link the ETSY store you got that binder? I have looked EVERYWHERE. I have literally searched every.single.3-ring binder search result on ETSY and I can not find the design you have.
I believe it was from the "Gaia Art Books" shop :)
@@TheOakWitch Thank you soo soo much for that. I'll take a look. I appreciate you so much. Thank you for making such informative videos :)
Where did you get the notebook that you showed in the beginning of the video, that was empty because you didn’t want to ruin it? I would like to get one.
I got it from a random spiritual store in England! You can find them online too, just search "leather triquetra journal" into Google!
Can you have more than one book of shadows?
Yes absolutely!
