Nothing is as good for my mini painting confidence as seeing an expert making the same mistakes I do. To see the fix is super educational, thank you so much for being so open about the entire process.
It's meaningful as a high quality painter and beloved (beloved?) content creator to show that you too can fat-trigger the airbrush and spray the ever loving crap out of a project.
Your humor is absolutely fantastic! It's not often I find myself painting and laughing out loud at a UA-cam video-so much so that I had to stop mid-brushstroke just to type this out and leave a comment. Love your work, mate; the army looks incredible. Keep it up!
I feel like you recent videos have been a lot more purposeful / deliberate, which is cool. It's great to hear your ongoing thought process / breakdown. :D
Absolutely fantastic stuff! I remember leaving feedback on the questionnaire you'd posted a little while back. And this is the exact outcome that I expected. Fantastic quality video, clear to follow, great commentary! Looks like Miniac is back on form! Couldn't be happier for you!
I switched from a yellow to a white sponge for my wet palette and it really helps me to better judge the color of the paint; especially useful for mixing.
Absolutely stunning, I love the contrast of the cold skin with warm armor. Pops of color to tie everything together with the army. The old model is still fantastic, and they work together as long as the rest of the army is there. Love the Dark Eldar army, and I'm excited to see the next long term project when it comes. I know I enjoy, even if it's a once a month, here is what I did for this warhammer project/ army I'm working on. The guest teaching are incredible, and anything else you are wanting to put up, I'm here to watch.
Just wanted to let you know that I've really enjoyed your content this year. You're consistantly putting out high quality videos that give me something to think about and apply to my own hobby time, whether it be a practical tip or something in theory. Much love to you Scott and others that you have putting in wotk behind the scenes. 🙏
If you want a nice oil paint stains that just shift the tone try first putting some enamel thinner/mineral spirits on the model, then use the oil paint thinned to the point you would thin acrylic paint, Mike Rinaldi has great videos about that
I’ve just started UA-cam and for my second video created one just like this, with the same concept of revisiting an old model. So just wanna say thank you for creating this video Scott as it’s given me a perfect comparison point on how to improve my videos and to see how a pro does it, cheers! 🙏 and also great vid!
I see your hard work, and dedication and I commend you! I wish you the best and much success. I often find myself studying your approach. I have found what makes me a better artist in all medias is pushing myself past my comfort zone, and trying out different approaches I see you take, definitely makes me a better painter/artist .thank you good, sir.
great video. I like that you mentioned how long it took you to pain the minni helps to put the paint job into prospective on the effort required to achieve the results.
I smiled when I saw the name Cronos Engine many years ago. I’ve been using the name Cronos for over 25 years and it’s always fun to see it being used somewhere.
Really enjoyed the vibe and detail in this video, makes me want to paint up one of those Drukhari barges. I also dig your choice on the cables, these guys are the product of proud body horror distribution agents, of course they'll have some fancy colours
Hey Scott, love the new Content. Had to laugh 5 times out load, because of the weird little jokes and the editing. Thanks for highlighting the amount of thought going into your airbrush placement etc. I learned so much and definitely gonna try that out myself.
Ooooo, somebody has a new bun in the coven! Scott, this was a really good video. One of your best. No gimmicks, no drama or yuk-yuks (ok, fewer yuk-yuks), just painting. I especially appreciate you taking us though your mistakes and corrections. Well done, sir.
personally, sub-assembly painting is the best way to thoroughly get to know a model, topographically/geometrically as well as painting-wise. does it make sense for every model? nah. is there a fleeting degree of satisfaction in knowing that you painted portions of it nobody will ever see? ye, kinda. is it time well spent? well, if you like painting, then yeah. if you're just trying to get models on the tabletop, then probably not so much. it can still be a worthwhile experiment and get you out of your painting routine, which is most often a good thing.
Great video Scott, nice to see you working on something up close and talking through it all, even the slip-ups. Out of interest, what’s this white wash product you mention? Sounds handy!
Another great video, do like the new version. Surprise right. Saw your brush box and minis down at The Source. (They look even better in person, thanks for letting them be displayed!) How did your Shatterpoint match go? Told ya boi to crush you mercilessly lol
Beautifully done, I feel the skin tone goes really well with the rest of the scheme. I guess we are all our own worst critics. Also, how long did you leave the airbrushed Molotow chrome to cure/dry before painting on it? Once again, fantastic work
@Miniac thank you for replying. Really good to know as I have some molotow chrome but have been hesitant to use it on miniatures because of the curing time. Thanks again, and another great video
You keep putting out bangers and I love it =D I really liked how you acknowkedge that mistakes were made and managed to learn from it, really inspiring =)
Great collab, two great channels! Feedback for the live segment - I love this, it would be awesome to have this in more videos when you are doing a specific technique and then we can see a live method, and ways you fix problems to help us do the same too! Top video!
I see what you mean during the final look at the complete model about it not coming together, but I am with you. Having seen you go through the process, I feel like I also enjoy the final model more than I would just presented with it. (I'd still love it)
The best thinned down oil skin recipe I’ve ever seen is from NuHue’s angron video. Its unbelievably good and although its not the exact tone you would be looking for the technique can definitely be changed by color to suit whatever skin tone you want
Love to see the growth! I know many people say not to go back to old models but I'm starting to do this on my first AOS army and making changes that are light lift vs huge visual impact and I'm so glad I'm taking he plunge no ragerts
Great video Scott, while you say that you 'tried harder' on the Talos, I do think on the Cronos you made some very smart choices like the chrome mask that really makes him stand out way more. Aside from you being a much better painter now of course...
I think your skills have come quite aways in 10 years because that is definitely a good job on that model and even if you don't I honestly feel that the colors you chose work together quite well because some abominations are usually tones of subdued colors instead of being bright and flashy. Good job my friend keep up the good work
Was gonna skip this video because “repainting” doesn’t get me going. Then I watched eons video and saw yours was part of the dark Eldar competition! That’s way more exciting then just repainting
I find it really helpful to paint the same model from time-to-time. You've painted it before, so you know exactly what you're doing and you have an opportunity to try something different and can compare it directly to what you've already done.
Excellent video, lovely result. Have you used Villainy Ink, Scott? The way you painted this model would have worked well with them; it is very Grimdark Compendium.
Im not a fan of sub assembly. My wife has every piece of the model on a separate paperclip, like dozens of them 😂 I enjoy these sorts of videos from you Scott, keep em coming!
That liquid chrome looks ridiculously good. I have to imagine necrons with that and a pop of color like you did would look pretty dope. Was that hard to work with at all? Did you need to dilute with Isopropyl?
I don't dilute it at all. It's very simple through an airbrush. The one thing is you need to apply enough of it to slightly flood the surface with it in order to get that high gloss finish. If you apply a thin layer of it, it'll look like any other metallic paint.
Nice Star Wars tee. Got mine in 1977 (when the movie blew my doors off and I saw it 11 times) and then I quickly outgrew it. That’s the problem with getting into something when you’re 12. 😆 Sure did make a very cool find in a box later, though!
Man, this channel is so back to form! Well done Scott!!!
Epic paint job as always.
Would love to see an oils only video!
Oooops, all Oils! Would be a pretty interesting video
Definitely - all oils please!
End of the year is uppon us! We need it, Scotty... You know we need it....bring us the end of the year (not) trashy video
it is UNSTOPPABLE
But Scotty doesn't know ;)
Nothing is as good for my mini painting confidence as seeing an expert making the same mistakes I do. To see the fix is super educational, thank you so much for being so open about the entire process.
I love this type of content. Love your army projects. All of them. Great video!
It's meaningful as a high quality painter and beloved (beloved?) content creator to show that you too can fat-trigger the airbrush and spray the ever loving crap out of a project.
love the grey black fade with the yellow over brush on the 'proboscus'!
WE BACK BABY
Your humor is absolutely fantastic! It's not often I find myself painting and laughing out loud at a UA-cam video-so much so that I had to stop mid-brushstroke just to type this out and leave a comment. Love your work, mate; the army looks incredible. Keep it up!
20:09 this was quite a surprise since I had looked away before the warning was posted on screen 😂
I'll never get tired of watching your paint process, thank you for teaching me so much!
Excellent work man👍 I think it looks awesome, may your raids be legendary!
I love the dead flesh not being how you want with the armour. Makes it look more dead! Love it ❤
I switched from a yellow to a white sponge for my wet palette and it really helps me to better judge the color of the paint; especially useful for mixing.

Great job on this vid Scott. Great production value and informative. I love the new format. Well done!
That Chronos' graffiti skills are super sick Scott!! I could totally see a full army all having similar tags/graffiti in general.
I think the best part of this video is how you critique your final work. It is still better than anything I have made but it just feels so relatable.
Love this, it's so entertaining watching you painting something you want to and enjoying the process towards a bigger whole. 10/10
As someone who is getting ready to paint the same model i appreciate learning from your mistakes
Those pops of teal are doing WORK! Excellent paint job
Just wanted to let you know that I've really enjoyed your content this year. You're consistantly putting out high quality videos that give me something to think about and apply to my own hobby time, whether it be a practical tip or something in theory.
Much love to you Scott and others that you have putting in wotk behind the scenes. 🙏
10:57 that sounds like something worth giving a go for your next venture into oils!
If you want a nice oil paint stains that just shift the tone try first putting some enamel thinner/mineral spirits on the model, then use the oil paint thinned to the point you would thin acrylic paint, Mike Rinaldi has great videos about that

This video is great! Absolutely what I come to this channel for and some of your best work of the last year.
great video. I like that you mentioned how long it took you to pain the minni helps to put the paint job into prospective on the effort required to achieve the results.
Came here from Eons and Im super invested in this competition. Love this video. Looking forward to exploring the rest of your channel.
I friggin love this format! I'd love to see more where you revisit old piece with new skills or ideas.
I appreciated the calm and soothing narration.
Hellllll yeah
really like to see this type of video, good to see how people have changed the style over the years
Man we need some more blooper reels like the one with the grafiti! Love those tiny goof ups! The mini looks amazing well done!
this looks so amazing, amazing work!
Ah a classic video where Scott paints a mini, love that stuff!
Another slam dunk! I like the cutting matt store tie in and the Jay challenge announcement I think they were well placed.
I smiled when I saw the name Cronos Engine many years ago. I’ve been using the name Cronos for over 25 years and it’s always fun to see it being used somewhere.
That Tamiya clear is JUICY! Thank you for the vid!! Beautiful dude.
Love this series between you and Jay.
Would love an ongoing points leaderboard with bi-weekly/monthly updates!!!
Really enjoyed the vibe and detail in this video, makes me want to paint up one of those Drukhari barges. I also dig your choice on the cables, these guys are the product of proud body horror distribution agents, of course they'll have some fancy colours
Great job! You bring some incredibly learnable but cool, techniques to the hobby!
Love the process!
Hey Scott, love the new Content. Had to laugh 5 times out load, because of the weird little jokes and the editing. Thanks for highlighting the amount of thought going into your airbrush placement etc. I learned so much and definitely gonna try that out myself.

These are some of my absolute favorite videos of yours! Stoked to see your Drukhari at the end 🤘🤘
Great video Scott, nice to see you working on something up close and talking through it all, even the slip-ups.
Out of interest, what’s this white wash product you mention? Sounds handy!
It's made by Lethal Shadows!
@@Miniac You rock! Thanks for the love
Another great video, do like the new version. Surprise right.
Saw your brush box and minis down at The Source. (They look even better in person, thanks for letting them be displayed!)
How did your Shatterpoint match go? Told ya boi to crush you mercilessly lol
Really love the format of these new videos

That is a great question because it does matter regarding the molotow. I just left it over night one day.
@Miniac thank you for replying. Really good to know as I have some molotow chrome but have been hesitant to use it on miniatures because of the curing time. Thanks again, and another great video
Helpful thread
Wow that sugil on the back is absolutely glowing! I am never brave enough to push the highlight of glowy bits to white, but this looks awesome.
You keep putting out bangers and I love it =D
I really liked how you acknowkedge that mistakes were made and managed to learn from it, really inspiring =)
So fun to watch. I need to try out oils sometime.
MINIAC MONDAYS WOOO! The Talos turned out great, and good lord that chrome mask is SUBLIME!
I know you said at the end that the color scheme didn't come together as you'd have liked, but I went "whoa cooool!" during the reveal. Looks awesome!
I love watching this army come together... its a really cool scheme :)
Great collab, two great channels! Feedback for the live segment - I love this, it would be awesome to have this in more videos when you are doing a specific technique and then we can see a live method, and ways you fix problems to help us do the same too!
Top video!

Unreal video of a great paint job on a super cool model. Good job battling perfectionism too it's hard!
Tremendous work! Thanks for sharing!
Loving the Eldar videos. I think the skin and armour contrast well, as the dissonance highlights the gruesomeness of the skin!
I see what you mean during the final look at the complete model about it not coming together, but I am with you. Having seen you go through the process, I feel like I also enjoy the final model more than I would just presented with it. (I'd still love it)
It's going to be one hell of a drukhari army. Can't wait to see it complete!
This turned out so sick! Great work, Scott.
if you use a stiffer bristle like a toothbrush to get better splatter with the tamiya clear red it helps a lot
I liked the video. I enjoy tutorials like this, and you do them well. I miss the intro though. It gets me in the miniac mood.
The best thinned down oil skin recipe I’ve ever seen is from NuHue’s angron video. Its unbelievably good and although its not the exact tone you would be looking for the technique can definitely be changed by color to suit whatever skin tone you want
Glad to have you back!
I was never gone ❤
I actually really like the combination of the pastel cream/yellow and the blue-beige fleshtone.
this was chill af ty scott
Love to see the growth! I know many people say not to go back to old models but I'm starting to do this on my first AOS army and making changes that are light lift vs huge visual impact and I'm so glad I'm taking he plunge no ragerts
Looks great!
This is so helpful! Thank you!
Smashing it mate!
I love this content. Thank you!
Great video Scott, while you say that you 'tried harder' on the Talos, I do think on the Cronos you made some very smart choices like the chrome mask that really makes him stand out way more. Aside from you being a much better painter now of course...
That is such a crispy and clean result ❤🔥Your 10+ years ago is where I hope to be in 10 years time 😂
I think your skills have come quite aways in 10 years because that is definitely a good job on that model and even if you don't I honestly feel that the colors you chose work together quite well because some abominations are usually tones of subdued colors instead of being bright and flashy.

Was gonna skip this video because “repainting” doesn’t get me going. Then I watched eons video and saw yours was part of the dark Eldar competition! That’s way more exciting then just repainting
The chrome detail is awesome. It reminds me of the cover to the old film Dark Portals The Chronicles of Vidocq
I’ll come back and watch this later. I just had to skip to the end to hear the growls first.🤘
Love it scott keep the videos coming ❤
21:50 Scott, do you need table magnifying glass?
I think I'm alright
Please do a quick end of the year video like Jay, we all want to see the full Dark Eldar army together on the desk in front of you
Brother, you're seeing it at the end of this video, that's all I have done lol
Man this army is looking goood!
Really love that you are collaborating with Jay. Love both channels.
Banger video after banger video fr
I find it really helpful to paint the same model from time-to-time. You've painted it before, so you know exactly what you're doing and you have an opportunity to try something different and can compare it directly to what you've already done.
That mirror effect is very cool.
Excellent video, lovely result.
Have you used Villainy Ink, Scott? The way you painted this model would have worked well with them; it is very Grimdark Compendium.
I haven't tried them yet!
I was waiting to see the video after seeing Instagram post this morning and It was worth to wait!
Im not a fan of sub assembly. My wife has every piece of the model on a separate paperclip, like dozens of them 😂 I enjoy these sorts of videos from you Scott, keep em coming!
I love that freehand on the shell so much it's kind of a shame it's not a little more prominent.
This was sick man
That death metal growl was especially spicy! Sick paint job, bro.
That liquid chrome looks ridiculously good. I have to imagine necrons with that and a pop of color like you did would look pretty dope. Was that hard to work with at all? Did you need to dilute with Isopropyl?

I agree that the different hosing color is cooler than just making it look all metallic.
Nice Star Wars tee. Got mine in 1977 (when the movie blew my doors off and I saw it 11 times) and then I quickly outgrew it. That’s the problem with getting into something when you’re 12. 😆 Sure did make a very cool find in a box later, though!
this really made me miss painting. maybe now on break I'll bust out some old models
