the people who are critical of Mccarthy have not seen much of him. If you have watched him a lot, you have a completely different opinion. (I feel that I should throw in that Bo Nix completed 77.4% of his passes this season.) I also find it interesting that people point to the Maryland game to show that McCarthy is not an NFL QB but they never really look at the entire Michigan team. The final score 31-24 Michigan got a safety and a defensive TD and still only won by seven, that doesn't seem like that was all on the QB. JJ & Michigan, #3 in the country in 4th down conversions. 27 -1 in the last 2 years. Beat Alabama in a come from behind win in the Rosebowl. To get to the National Championship and won that.
I like his pocket presence and how he finds a way to make plays. His downfield passing needs to improve but I believe that KOC of the Vikings can help him with that.
Yeah, I like JJ a lot. The fact that he meditates before and during games to help keep himself balanced shows a level of wisdom most people do not understand. He could go far utilizing those tools as a leader.
Raheem Morris talked about getting an “elite processor” at quarterback. I wasn’t a fan of McCarthy because his stats don’t jump out at you, but I can’t help but notice how he’s going through progressions quickly and making a decision. Not holding the ball long, keeping his eyes down field, and feeling the pressure of the pocket. I see a quarterback that the Shannahan/Mcvay system covets. Starting to believe he wont fall past the Falcons at 8.
Big10 channel just released his career highlight tape, minus his CFP games. Its glorious to watch. It starts off with that across the field TD pass to Baldwin against Western Mich and it only gets better from there.
He goes to denver he will flourish under sean payton.. jj is not a " Me me me" guy like some critics want him to be... willing to play within the gameplan ...
Yeah I’m not sure what’s up with the reading comprehension of those that replied, but one of the top 3 QBs taken mean he could go after guys like Williams and Maye and still be in the top 3 QBs taken lol after the combine so many people will have different opinions. It’s just easier to see to some people than others watching film I guess. I’ll take these receipts though
I think most of the scouts out there have him as the undisputed #4 QB. Clearly better than Nix or Penix, but will fall behind Williams/Maye/Daniels. Vikings and Raiders have the best shot at him.
Good tape overall. Very close but McCarthy did appear to take a step past the line of scrimmage with the ball still in-hand at the opponent's 19 yard line with his front leg that was his main support leg throwing on the run @ about 2:35 but hard to make that call.
It was reviewed, and down the line it still looked like he was over. I expected it to get overturned. But his heel was close enough that they let the call on the field stand.
I’ve been pounding the table and think the bears will find a way to draft him. Our gm loves local kids, dude wasn’t even 21 when he won a natty. Insane Jim said he’s this generations Andrew Luck. Jim knows more than us. I’m convinced he’s going to Chicago
He's arguably better than Drake Maye. Not sure why Maye should be chosen 2nd. Maye threw a lot more but that's about it. His completion percentage is worse not to mention his TD to interception ratio and his win/loss record. McCarthy just wins. Just gets the job done. Team first guy.
The only stat that matters at the elite level is wins and losses. McCarthy's record as a starter? 27-1 (96.4%), 65-3 (95.6%)if you include high school. All this guy does is find ways to win, win, win. He's also a great runner. McCarthy made critical plays in several games with his legs. He's only 21 years old and has never had an injury bad enough to miss a game.
Where you are finding this kind of view of the field? I keep on seeing analysis channels using the angle your using and was just wondering where you can find it.

JJ+Dagger+Flood concepts= pain for opposing defenses
Raheem Morris talked about getting an “elite processor” at quarterback. I wasn’t a fan of McCarthy because his stats don’t jump out at you, but I can’t help but notice how he’s going through progressions quickly and making a decision. Not holding the ball long, keeping his eyes down field, and feeling the pressure of the pocket. I see a quarterback that the Shannahan/Mcvay system covets. Starting to believe he wont fall past the Falcons at 8.
Stats. Nothing shows ignorance more than someone who depends on stats over actually watching them play.
McCarthy reminds me a ton of Brock Purdy. You can see how fast he actually processes things....that's unteachable.
Thank you, Very educational and informative. JJ is the best and most complete QB in the draft.
Good vid, man.
truly hoping Denver picks him up, hes not the best in the draft class. but if he's available at pick 12, hes still a great choice imo.
If you want to see his arm strength on display, see the MSU game. Second TD to Loveland is a rocket.
Big10 channel just released his career highlight tape, minus his CFP games. Its glorious to watch. It starts off with that across the field TD pass to Baldwin against Western Mich and it only gets better from there.
McCarthy has great arm strength..that is known.
He goes to denver he will flourish under sean payton.. jj is not a " Me me me" guy like some critics want him to be... willing to play within the gameplan ...
He will be top 3 QB taken. Book it
Before Daniels Maye and Williams? You really beleive that?
Won't be a top 3 qb but has a chance to damn near be one out of the class- A bias, coping Michigan fan
@@CanadianChiGuy23JJ is the best quarterback in the draft 💯
Good tape overall. Very close but McCarthy did appear to take a step past the line of scrimmage with the ball still in-hand at the opponent's 19 yard line with his front leg that was his main support leg throwing on the run @ about 2:35 but hard to make that call.
It was reviewed, and down the line it still looked like he was over. I expected it to get overturned. But his heel was close enough that they let the call on the field stand.
Seahawk should draft this guy if he drop to 16, but very unlikely gonna happen.
I feel like Sean Payton with McCarthy would win Super Bowls
Watch the Michigan State game from last year. He torched them all night with his arm and made some amazing throws.
Great video and great analysis. J.J. McCarthy is the real deal.
I’ve been pounding the table and think the bears will find a way to draft him. Our gm loves local kids, dude wasn’t even 21 when he won a natty. Insane
Jim said he’s this generations Andrew
Luck. Jim knows more than us.
I’m convinced he’s going to Chicago
Now you see the power of the "mister bright side"😂😂😂😂Gooooo Bluuuuuueeeeee Baby!
I like him to be able to sit and learn in his first year and not thrown in the deep end
He's arguably better than Drake Maye. Not sure why Maye should be chosen 2nd. Maye threw a lot more but that's about it. His completion percentage is worse not to mention his TD to interception ratio and his win/loss record. McCarthy just wins. Just gets the job done. Team first guy.
the Giants really need to be keying in on him since we will miss out on the "top 3".
Id off myself if my team even scouted this guy
Ohio state fan or smth?
@@Bennett12337 no
I think he'll need a team with a good offensive line or that team should sit him while they build their line.
Thank you Great Job 🎉
We know. :) Trust me, *WE KNOW*
Right? We've been telling these doubters for over a year now.
Shhhh let him slide down that draft board
I'm a Michigan fan and I love JJ I think you should have picked film from a harder opponent
Great breakdown
The only stat that matters at the elite level is wins and losses. McCarthy's record as a starter? 27-1 (96.4%), 65-3 (95.6%)if you include high school. All this guy does is find ways to win, win, win. He's also a great runner. McCarthy made critical plays in several games with his legs. He's only 21 years old and has never had an injury bad enough to miss a game.
Where you are finding this kind of view of the field? I keep on seeing analysis channels using the angle your using and was just wondering where you can find it.
It’s called the “all 22”.
Pff
He is going to be a Bronco, he will go 1st round.
He was definitely past the line of scrimmage on that one throw lmao
If Washington Commanders are smart they should really look at him and draft him.
Give atleast a full year behind a similar QB like Goff & I think he'll be a good NFL QB
JJ will be the first QB of this years draft to lead his team to the SB and WIN it !
He just WINS !!!
I came into this process thinking JJ was #6 or #7 as far as QB's coming out this year but the more I dig I'm starting to see why Harbaugh said he thinks he'll be #1. I really hope he comes to MN. JJ to JJ connection! WOOO!
I think a lot of us did and in my opinion you put JJ in that Washington offense with those weapons he has drastically better stats. He’s more mobile, younger, better feet and throwing mechanics than Penix. The more this process plays out the more I see him top 12 pick
@@allday2820 If your watch his tape the skill set translates to the pro game and that's just all there is to it.
@@shamelessdaddy8707 I agree
Harbaugh said he’s Andrew luck. Jim coached luck at Stanford. He knows.
Bears gotta love. Him
@@rbibbe34 I think he's similar. He's certainly not as broad and sturdy looking as Andrew but he seems to have a stronger passion for the game than Luck did....JJ needs to add some good weight.
I still think he needed 1 more year of development at Michigan but I understand why he went.
I think we're gonna pick JJ at 6, im not gonna lie im starting to get excited about this kid to, he's a winner and him working with Daboll LFG, he's a bigger faster stronger Tommy DeVito and Vito played well in Dabolls Offense, yeah im sold
I'd take him over Maye tbh
JJ is ultimate competitor and wasn’t really needed to throw 30 times a game. His best ball is still ahead of him
He's good
I was a bona fide JJ hater last year but now kinda want him on my Falcons
What did he even do to make you hate him?
@@Ander173 I guess hate is a harsh term but I just really thought he was system. The TCU vs Michigan game certainly did not help. And the fact they had an incredibly easy schedule didn't either.
The TCU game where JJ threw for 343 yards and 2 TDs? If it wasnt for Michigan having a clear TD overturned it would have been 3 TDs passing and Michigan wins the game. @@reallycarson

JJ has the potential to be the best QB of this draft class
Over Maye Williams and Daniels and Penix? I dont know bro.
@@jameskeffer2972 Why do we think Maye will be good
@@zackaryhunt5851 excuse me?! Why do you think McCarthy will be good? Let alone better than Maye 💀. Maye has a better arm. He’s the better rusher and processer by far. He’s taller and 30 pounds heavier. There’s a reason why the head coach who’s literally been to the big game in the national league didn’t use McCarthy in the big game in the fucking college league. Maye is the best QB of this draft imo and McCarthy’s not even a 2nd round pick. We’re literally comparing a Bryce Young Zach Wilson clone to basically Justin Herbert with Jalen Hurts’ legs like this is actually a waste of time no offense.
@@jameskeffer2972 bro then why didn't UNC do anything or win the games they were supposed too
@@jameskeffer2972 JJ won the national championship. Maye, Williams, and Daniels won nothing.
In the right Offense, McCarthy can be a better Brock Purdy.
JJ is a ball of clay right now with the moxie/intangibles and tools to be a good starting QB. Give him to Sean Payton to mold.
He could be the next Tom Brady if he finds the right fit in the big leagues. Hes already way ahead of Tom, by where he gets drafted.
Seems like a good fit for Sean Payton tbh
im not familiar with college ball is the cristicism for him because of how talented michigan is?
its mainly that they are a run first offence that does not make him throw the ball deep much
He's legit. Michigan was Stacked stacked and blew out everyone except an OT game vs Alabama. He didn't throw 50 times a game, padding his stats against cupcakes, because we didn't need him to. With the #1 defense we didn't have to worry about comebacks either. So JJ usually sat by halftime. He was so efficient that he actually didn't play a single minute of any 4th qtr, until Nov. 11th (9 games in). When he was in, he was spectacular tho. He made 5 or 6 passes a game that only a handful of NFL QBs can make.
TErrible take, Michigan throws deep often, but they are run first using play action to do it. Get it right ignorant person who didnt watch JJ play.@@pootis9558
Only people that hate Michigan are the same people that hate JJ. Truth is he has every bit of talent and experience to be drafted in round 1. Get over college passing yards stats. He’s NFL ready season 1
Future Viking
He's a guy that cannot start year 1 or he'll do a Zach Wilson. He does not have enoigh reps but the tape he has put down is really good.
5:00 all his receivers are open after the break but he chose the one receiver for style points
Lol
GMEM PICK THIS KID!!!
Great clips but the fact that they are against East Carolina is a bit sketchy
Wasn't across the line of scrimmage? ? ? Are you high? Or just blind? He was definitely across the line of scrimmage! ! !
Should the steelers get JJ Mccarthy well be set....Kenny Pickett would be learning from him....
Washington should get him brah. He can hoop fr. The bad things we can clean up
5800 passing yds and 44 touchdowns in 2 seasons. Enough said. Most ppl watch ESPN highlights and not an entire game. First Take tells them what to think. For example, the best RB this season plays for Oklahoma State. How many ppl know this?
He’s going to the Falcons
I sure hope so. Just the kind of young QB they need. Perhaps sit a season behind a veteran QB. I think with the new OC coming to Atlanta, it just might work.
@@Dave-nm8ufgreat eye I respect it.
Would EASILY be the best player that shyte franchise EVER drafted~
While I think he is great QB prospect, the dude passed the LOS in that throw for a TD
I remember on the broadcast the "review expert" they had said as any part of his body was on the line when he started his throwing motion, he was ok. I don't know if this is a college football thing or if it's even correct, but I remember watching it and thinking he was obviously over the LOS. But they reviewed it and said he wasn't.
really hope he is a falcon @ # 8!!!!
