My daughter and I have only just come into collecting this last week, we are NZ based, and like the rest of the world the more popular ones are nowhere to be seen. Im all good though, we just chilling and picked up a couple stella crowns etbs and TWA as well. SC has the cool Bulba and Squirt,e SIR my duaghter and I like so thats where we are sitting.
I picked up 2 TWM PC etbs before the restock, opened one, got shafted, but pulled the greninja later on a 3 pack blister 😂. And also picked up 3 booster boxes before they went out of stock. My TWM and surging sparks stocks looking real good 😎. Got an obsidian flames booster box from a mystery box, so that was a W too and also picking up a regular obsidian flames ETB today, but I'm cracking it to get the promo and open some packs to hunt down that ninetales
@PokeFamTCG only started this in November, and I think I've done pretty well for myself 😎. Could never understand the stock market or crypto, but when you find a market based on something you loved growing up and are still a fan of, it becomes way easier to understand 😂. Now I have stuff in my personal collection that I will never sell, but my kids will be free to sell when I'm no longer here, and stuff that will grow that I can sell for said kid's life/education when I do have them 😎
I can’t wait to find these. Good eye on the investments, I’ve been trying to diversify my portfolio, which is strong to fairly strong. But with these cards, it will be a fairly to extremely strong portfolio. Any advice on WHEN to play some of these? My kids are smoking me with the weird ones they get at McDonalds.
@PokeFamTCG Not really imo. I was like 18 when Pokemon came out in 1999. I even worked in a game, card, comic shop. It was collecting, kids playing etc etc. Sure you would always have the odd person buying a box and put it in attic but 99% Were collectors or just kids having fun. These days, ppl buy cards to get a psa 10 to sell for more, buy booster boxes to save etc etc. The whole thing have expanded like crazy. You have videos were ppl use graphs etc etc to try to guess what ETB or boxes they ahould buy and stpre fpr future investment. Dont come and say that this was around in 1999...cause it was not.
@MegaDorkatron Collecting / investing has always been a part of human nature. Even before Pokémon cards, other collectibles like baseball cards, comic books, stamps, and antiques were viewed as investments. The idea of buying something for the purpose of holding onto it in hopes of appreciating in value is not new-it's just that Pokémon, like many modern collectibles, tapped into that tradition with a fresh and broad appeal since 2020 or so. With Pokémon, the brand keeps evolving, and the nostalgia factor is incredibly strong, especially as the original fans are now adults with disposable income now. The big difference you’re noticing between the early days and now is the rise of digital culture-social media, UA-cam, and influencer-driven trends. This has made the market more visible and accessible. Collectors now share insights, run analysis, and speculate, which amplifies awareness and investment opportunities So while it might feel like this whole thing has gotten “crazy” or “over-commercialized,” the desire to collect-and even invest-has always been there. It’s just that the investment/ collector space is more organized and connected than ever before.
@PokeFamTCG While I agree with some points there is still a diffrense when ppl collect stuff cause they enjoy it and ot over time increase in price and putting stuff in storage. These days its more of buying a booster box, put it in storage.. Now I dont care for graded, investing, I just buy a card cause I like it and saty clear from the super expensiv stuff...
Great and informative vid, bro. Subscribed ✅

People have been investing in Pokemon since 1999. Doesn’t mean it’s a wrong thing to do. But I do respect your opinion.
