I did everything step by step and it didn’t change the background color of my website 😢, it remains white

The color on your site must be set somewhere outside of Elementor. Check in Appearance -> Customizer to see if the background color is set by your theme. If it is, you should be able to change it to a transparent background color and then Elementor's color choices will reign supreme! As they say.
