Another thing Im learning in the minimalism journey, is to hw content in the journey. Im 3 years in and would say my house is minimized (the garage not so much yet 😅) and something I learned was to be content as you pare down, dont deny yourself joy in the process by thinking you cant be content until your done. Celebrate small victories and the baby steps you are taking. Clutter truly comes off in layers and for me sin and spiritual clutter have been dealt with along the way. Many blessings in Christ to you alk my sister. ❤

That fear of "what if I need this and can't find something similar if I get rid of it?" is something I'm definitely working through in my decluttering journey--and hearing Dawn talk about it as a matter of faith really hit home!

Thanks ladies. I loved the conversation it was validating and encouraging. Keep doing what your doing! My husband thought I would repurchase things I wanted to declutter, but 3 years on, he is appreciating our simplified home. He even noticed that I wasn't spending as much after I started decluttering and has thanked me!

Thank you!! I started removing kitchen unneeded things about a year ago! So refreshing! I keep a bin of plastic containers that I keep for holiday's (I host most big meals) and it's so nice to pull it out and send home leftovers without worry about getting the containers back!
I feel so much better cleaning out my closet too.

We spent eight months in South America as a family of four with literally what could fit in three suitcases. That "fasting" mentality is SO effective! When we came back to the states, I was so, so thankful for our junky old van 😂

So funny Dawn mentioned the Pampered Chef parties. I am addicted to PC and have probably gotten rid of as much that I never used as what I have and use on a regular basis! I get invited to the parties all the time, but after listening to Dawn and other decluttering channels the past couple years, I have learned to be much more selective with any purchases I make, PC and otherwise!

I really liked Dawn talking about living room for God to surprise us. Last November, I was in a season praying to God about something I really needed from Him. As I was praying that day, I just felt this clear, unmistakable nudge from God saying what if I asked you to delete it all? I knew exactly what He was talking about in that moment. It was all very organized collection of Pinterest boards that I have been carefully planning and putting for the past two years. Pinterest boards in home decor, organization, weddings, recipes, and most especially pantries.
In that moment, I broke down because I felt like it was my baby you know. Something that I had dutifully put together for so long and I had so many people like my friends and partner, who I knew were looking forward to eventually using the boards I had put together one day. But that’s night I had spent so much time desperately praying to and longing after God that I was willing to do anything. But very very, let me repeat that, VERY VERY shaky faith and watch felt like😂 so much heartbreak, I deleted the Pinterest boards. at that. I just felt so… HOLLOW… so I apologized to God that it hurt so much, asked for His grace and climbed back into bed.
That morning, when I woke up, the hollow emptiness has not gone away and instead, I just felt so angry. Because I had no idea how to build those Pinterest boards all over again. And, I let God know that I was 😅
Later that afternoon, my boyfriend and I just finished our premarital counseling at church, and as we were walking out, the pastor stopped us and said. “ hey, would you guys like a free bookcase? I’m about to throw it in the dumpster.” I looked it what he was talking about and it was literally even better than the dream bookcase with glass doors that I had been looking for on my pantry Pinterest board. For context, this was the most important thing that I wanted out of anything off my Pinterest board and was also the most expensive. God blessed, my little shaky step off of obedience by surprising me with the greatest thing that I wanted from those Pinterest boards, without having to pay a dime. GOD IS TRULY AMAZING!! 🤗💕 Let Him surprise you! He doesn’t skip on His gifts.

Hello, i'm from Semi Nomad culture, when i moved from Kazakhstan to Italy, i'v been shocked here Italians adopted American standard to have big house, big cars, tons of stuff, just piling for years that i had to declutter 40 years stuff, it was so terrifiyng so much to do, my hb changed he's mind slowly now we have only necessary things still have precious sentimental items, my mom used to declutter so often and give our stuff to other families in need, Here people scared to declutter they used to live in small houses with a lot of children with necessary stuff, after 60s they changed mindset to have more, now mostly lives in 2 rooms the rest of house living room 2-3 bedrooms not used much, is just museum pillled up, not allowed even to enter to rooms😂 My hb told that he's grandma had sofa with plastic on it for years😝. I'm not minimal i use all my nice dishes all the time, i love have friends relatives.ciao😘

I was wondering recently why I was so much more easy going when my first child was little. Then I realized I started with almost NOTHING. I lived out of a suitcase traveling everywhere when I met my husband. So I’ve been so ruthless getting rid of stuff! I haven’t used a time will tell box yet at all. I’m just making lots of boxes and dropping them off at the thrift store as they get full.

I really enjoyed this and I have been praying that the Lord would help me let go of things. I have not been into stuff or acquired stuff for a long time but I have clothes that I need to let go of and it is so hard because I take such good care of them and they are in such good condition, and I spent money on them. I have let go of a few items of clothing and then regretted it which is just silly. I like what was said about fear, fear of not being able to find some thing else like it. I have not thought about the fear factor. I think that is going to help me a lot! God, please help me not fear letting go! Please help me to trust You to provide for my needs as I need them. Please show me what to let go of and help me be willing. Please set me free, in Jesus name. I read TPT, along with a few others. Thank you so much sisters!

This is a beautifully said video! I love Dawn! Let's also remember that King David was amongst the wealthiest men in history, and his faith was very strong as he walked beside our Creator.
It doesn't say that only those who have very little are the only ones who have the best faith.
Just want to add that for those who might be under the impression that their faith and closeness to the Lord will be "better" if they just declutter.
I like to keep it in perspective. Diana Kokku said it beautifully that it is in our times of despair that we grow in faith and closeness to Him. 💕
When we are in the mires of clutter, we often reach out to the Almighty, and He is always there for us! Decluttering is essential to healthy living but not to our faith and closeness in God

When I hear " you won't miss it"....i am disheartened bec I have gone through 50 years of stuff. And I do miss things and especially 2 items...old eye glasses and a crafy table. I need a pair of glasses now and it cost hundreds of dollars to replace. And a craft table that my husband and i both miss. It cost $88. Replacing will cost double or triple. Our funds are limited so that isn’t happening. I am now afraid to get rid of stuff!

Hi guys - I really hope you see this comment. As a kitchen and interior designer, I've been giving kitchens a lot of thought. Modern kitchens are such a con!!! Years ago our parents had walk in pantries with shelves. If we could all create a small walk in pantry in the corner our our kitchen , with lots of easily accessible , not too deep, shelves, everything would be easier. GET RID OF ALL THE BUILT IN CUPBOARDS - they use too much wood and require too much cleaning. A pantry has one door!!! So much less to maintain. After that all we need is a work top with our sink, cooker and dishwasher underneath, and a couple of drawers for pots, plates and cutlery etc - but only those you use every day. NO KITCHAN CUPBOARDS> This design will change lives - the way people used to be able to operate was much better. Think about it and I'm sure you will agree.

God didn't actually give us stuff....we went to the store and bought the stuff! God gives us the means to provide what we truly need (food, clothes, a place to call home). We (not God) are responsible for how/ what we buy.

Christian song removed, for me, Love Me Like I Am by FKAC and Jordin Sparks. That is not a Christian song. I can sing that to my husband. Same with Til I Foud You by Phil W. There's not point to Jesus, His death on the cross, etc.
