Fortunately, I had a college economics teacher that taught me a lesson at 18. That lesson was: for every purchase you make, you can't buy something else. Varied sources of income is wise and especially living within your means. Think about taxes and how you get your income. I made $72k combined net last year and paid no Federal taxes.

Explanatory video, one that folks really need to watch. I’m 50, retired a while at 45. I have 35% of my capital invstments in an IRA, 25% in index funds, and the balance spread across other investment accts, in cumulative of over $ 5M. I receive income from my rental properties too. Zero debt and all is going accordingly. My financial consultant has been patient and has done a wonderful job for me throughout the years.
Living below ones means & investing before retirement especially can be difficult but it's necessary. I've made lots of money mistakes in the past but I don’t regret it as I've learnt from them. Now I’m just focusing on the s&p 500 and waiting for a few years.
@@kristennn850 Yeah that's a good path. You should focus on a good ETF of the s&p 500, relax back and watch it compound within the years. In good time you could be a millionaire.

I feel for you. Newbies must realize that the market comes with lots of risks and you could potentially lose all. Secondly, what works for A must not necessarily work for B. Always make correct inquiries before putting your money somewhere or better still, get the services of a pro (that way, you give little room for error and get tailored investments). Made my first million earlier this year this way. Good luck!

Roth ira brokerage mean no tax but can’t take it out till ur 59.5 and maximum limit of 6k u can put in a year

Bro, everything you said makes sense but I disagree about timing the market. You can’t time it directly but when things are down is probably the best time to buy. I look at it like going thrift shopping. I tend to bulk-buy the expensive stocks in my portfolio when they're down and dollar cost avg (just like you thought me) in normal or boom times.

Just being in the market. Timing is nearly impossible. People often pull out when the markets go down because they're emotional about money and panic. Then they buy back in when it's already going up. Had they just left it alone, they'd have been better off.

Hi Andrei, I understand it’s best to keep investments for better or for worse, but do you ever consider selling off stock of one company/symbol and moving it to another? For example, selling stock in automotive industry and immediately buying stock in fashion industry. Not necessarily to un-diversify, but keeping momentum wherever the data suggests.
A lot of people do that. Sometimes it’s better to cut your losses and move on than hold on for several years to barely break even. Just make sure you do your homework before making the move. 👍🏼

I'm getting 15 dividend Pay checks too, however I'm up 135 % this year. which is About 450k in a yr..with good dividend paying portfolio .although with my investment advisor Susan Kay Mack , i buy as much as i can and wait for the rebound Only the brave gets rewarded in these times!
