    I just bought the SoloStove Bonfire yesterday during the Black Frfiday sales event. Our daughter has one and we have seen her's in use while sitting around outside for a family get together. She has used her's for over a year and likes it; so we bought one. The price is very affordable and there are many accessories. I didn't find out it was manufactured in China until your video (nuts!). Very helpful and informative review, thank you.

    Looking between these two I chose the BREEO, X30. The heat gradient on the BREEO itself is hotter, lower. Closer to your feet. Both may be designed to blow heat out the top, but the BREEO is heavier and holds the heat closer to you better. That is the purpose of a Fire Pit after all. Made in the USA, PA to be specific, just cinches it.

    Got a Breeo for my wife for Christmas after seeing it was made in USA and we love to entertain and cook out so it seems a little more ideal for that. Also seems the grill can be used on any fire because you can just spike it into the ground. I got the larger model though as we will set in in one spot and leave it and want to have a larger fire. Hope it works out well when we go to use it.

    We went with the Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0, which will spend the majority of it's time on our patio near our grill. So, no cooking over the fire for us. It comes with a storage cover, a carrying bag, and a lot of accessories that previous units were separate purchases.
    I will say the exceptional heat (up draft) of the Solo Stove causes wood to burn fast, so I recommend using oak whenever you can get it. White Birch just burns too fast for me, but it starts a fire really well, so use it to get the fire going if you can.

    This is a fantastic review! We used our brother's Bonfire Solo stove before we purchased our own Yukon stove. Frankly, I like the tough look of the Breeo better, but don't regret having gone with the less expensive Solo stove. For those who are curious, it is not flimsy and feels well-built.
    Just one more note, ours is the first version Yukon without the removable base. It is not a small hassle to clean it out. However, the new 2.0 model seems like the ideal solution. I would say the same is not true for our brother's Bonfire Solo stove. It made no difference to me that the bottom was not removable as it was quite easy to turn upside down and shake the ashes out.

      Man Peter, I'm feeling your comment right now since I just lugged our Yukon 1.0 out into the garden to dump ash, and it was 3/4 full from our last burn of a bunch of excess cardboard. When that thing is full, it's a beast to carry. I'd so much prefer the 2.0 in that size. All the best!

      @@TheBarbecueLab I got the Ranger 2.0 a couple of months ago and realize I don't like the new version for the smaller stoves. I think the best solution for anybody who doesn't want to try to empty out that Yukon 1.0 the old fashioned way is to use a Shop-Vac.

    My wife and I are in love with our Yukon Solo Stove. I think what ultimately set our decision on this one was the size options and the fact that they're endless amount of accessories to fit our fire pit. But I do like the fact that BREEO is made in the USA.

      @TheBarbecueLab  2 роки тому +5

      Right there with you. The Yukon was the first Solo Stove that we purchased, and it's still the one that we use the most since our patio is 24' deep. It eats wood like it's going out of style, but we've been happy with the performance and are salivating over the new 2.0 with the ash dump feature. Lugging that entire Yukon over to the garden to dump it is my least favorite part, but we still use it weekly.

    Happy with the purchase and tons of compliments on it. Most of my friends have purchased their own.
    This video also didn’t talk about the heat radius of each.

      Also, if you’re putting a solo on a deck, you need to get the stand for it.

    Based on the age of this video, they weren’t able to obtain the Breeo heat shield. It fits on an outpost rod which allows you to adjust the height of the shield from the Breeo unit itself. So you can fine tune the heat based on your seating arrangement. I've used the shield for my Y and it is great to change the deflection height based on the height of your seating.. And as of now all the different size Breeo pits have their own heat shield that fit each size pit.

Solostove has more accessories like the heat deflector which is amazing on the colder nights and their Surround accessory for saftey of kids, dogs, and adults who may have had one two many. I'd also add that on this video, I am much more impressed with the flame of the Solostove than I am the Breeo. I've had my SoloStove Yukon for almost two years. Moving into our first ground level home we bought solo stove to enjoy the fire 🔥 I was to a point of depression simply missing a fire bon (Latvian lady). Kids can safely make their smores as the heat does go out up above, it’s not made for heating you so little kids can approach the solo stove super close. It’s made for enjoying the fire 🔥 and cooking something on it, like kids s’mores or steak 🥩 but it’s unsustainable for daily grilling, so we’re shopping for the gas grill now for the quick daily family meals cooking as when the solo stove rains out (Miami weather) it’s hard to get it on and we’re not covering it. It’s mostly used for the winter time when it’s nice to sit outside. It’s a fashionable atmospheric fire bon NOT a fire pit for heating you, that should be acknowledged. It’s great to pop at the back of the truck for Glamping trips and slow cooking. Our friends use this as their main grill but they’re an older couple with bigger kids and they don’t care to take longer time for eeeeeverything. For younger families this works for safe firebon but you’ll need another grill for daily grilling anyway.

    I have the Solo Bonfire 2.0 and while it is a great fire pit, I would call it "less smoke" and not smokeless. When you start the fire there is smoke just like any fire. As the fire progresses and gets to the stage where it burning hot and efficiently that is where the secondary burn occurs and the there is even much less smoke. As the fire burns down and is not burning as hot then the smoke starts to increase again. So over the life of the burn there may be a period where the fire is maintained and there is what they call smokeless, but overall there is still smoke.

    The thing I've noticed with my Solo stove over the last 7 years is that it doesn't act like a rocket stove. It burns almost any type of wood fuel smokelessly, but also burns even and steady and doesn't seem to consume fuel quickly. I have seen two different Breeo stoves used for a few hours steadily and both seem to... *burn through* the wood rapidly. __ Everyone stay safe.

      Not sure about that. Doesnt burn as hot, fire was noticeably smaller with the same amount of wood. Stains much easier, that was there before he even cooked food on it. Looked impossible to clean too. Yes its more practical with some things like height and handle but to me the Solo Stove looks like the better product. Rather buy the extra accessories with it.

    Great comparison video David! I like the versatility of the Breeo but like the cleaner look of the Solostove. I own the Solostove and absolutely love it. My vote goes for the Solostove because I have 5 grills on my patio which I would prefer to cook on. When it's time for a firepit, I've already done enough cooking and prefer to relax at the firepit. Great video!

      Isn’t the stand an accessory that you have to purchase? Being made in America and having adjustable legs is what does it for me. Cooking is just a bonus. Only way I’d lean towards the solo is if I were an elderly person, or a fragile woman due to it being easier to clean.

    Awesome video! We are leaning toward a Breeo. But I really do like the clean up ease of the solo stove. However, I think the better quality and made in the USA will tip the scales toward the Breeo. We currently have just some great cinderblocks as a fire pit surrounded by gravel that was here when we moved into our house. We definitely love it and host a lot of bonfire get together‘s at our house. But a lot of people seem to be sensitive to the smoke. So it would be nice to not have as much smoke.

    • @TheBarbecueLab
      @TheBarbecueLab  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, we started with a fire pit made from landscape stones that smoked like crazy, and guests would sit around the fire and get chased by the flames and find reasons to leave shortly thereafter. Once we moved to a smokeless fire pit, we never looked back. We love them!
