    Ecu/dsg tune for the R/GTI make it feels like a whole different car. Car is smoother during cruise and traffic, and it pulls hard af when you get on it. There are many tune companies out there. I have integrated engineering ecu/dsg on my gti and it was the best 1k I have spent on a car.

    So this is actually a tuned VS tuned video. It would be good to see a stock vs tuned vs tuned version so potential customers could see any benefit of adding just a remap, and then perhaps advancing to a remap with added breathing. A screen listing the mods and times/speeds would be useful too for those of us with short attention spans. And rather than a 100-200kmh measure, how about 30-70mph in third which will be more representative of UK use and highlight any torque benefits. Cheers

    • @vroomgc
      @vroomgc 3 роки тому +4

      @@TrenC21 Almost everyone that goes stage 1 does an intake change of some sort. So your statement is not real world. And the actual stock intake is considered quite good so the change they made is of minor help. The turbo elbow may be the only piece that I would say could make a slight effect benefiting the tune. Either way there is a huge gap just going stage 1.

    • @TrenC21
      @TrenC21 3 роки тому +2

      maybe where you live. but not everyone has the 300-400USD to spend on top of the cost of the tune , so actually a lot of ppl just do the tune first as most companies do OTS maps, they can add the intake and elbow at a later stage and still gain from the original file loaded. Yes the OEM intake is good, but its closed, and doesnt have colder air coming into to, so it does make a difference especially to maf readings, so i think my original statement was pretty real world

    • @vroomgc
      @vroomgc 3 роки тому +3

      @@TrenC21 Omg so your statement is totally wrong. The stock box is the choice for pure cold air if you change the filter out and dremel a hole into the front part of the intake, which is a common change for ppl. Cost is maybe $50 for the filter. That change gets you pretty much the same results to anything else you can buy. I've done all these changes over time and like I said its common for ppl with Stage 1 to do the intake change even if its the cheaper one I just mentioned. But yes not the turbo elbow.

    After getting an explanation from an engine engineer, I don't lice ECU tunes. Reliability will always be affected as companies will cheap out on everything they can so the engine really is as cheap as possible and be really at its limit performance wise. It's those hidden things that matters, and also that they usually show 3 years later after the tune...
    If I ever do a tune I will go for the full rebuilt engine, transmission etc plus brakes suspension tyres and everything to make the car actually better. Or buy a cheap used car, tune it as extreme as possible and go for the track to drive the car wanting to blow it up 🙃(honestly that would be something so cool to do xd).
    Tuning professionals know that some engines can be tweaked a little and be still in the safe zone and other just can't gain a single bit, and others say this but you look every single car and it's like exactly the same percentage increase in performance... keep your car away from those.

      I completely agree with you especially on boosted engines with turbo or superchargers. NA engines benefit a lot from a tune and pose little risk to the engine or transmission. It would be wise to rebuild the engine and strengthen the transmission. Tunes should be done on a custom basis on a dyno with the aftermarket parts taken in to consideration.

  • @thegerman7133

    Sorrry guys, you cant compare the figures as "stock" and "tuned" cause the car was not stock before. There were mods which only would be recognised with a tune. What you did afterwards.

    • @awesomecars1
      @awesomecars1  3 роки тому

      As you said only recognised after a tune, so before the car was still pretty much running stock power :)

  • @samuelkearney880
    @samuelkearney880 3 роки тому

    I wonder was that tune on the engine side only because I've seen some tunes where only the gearbox has been done on the dsg box and it sharpens up the shift time and increases the 0-60 time. If the both were done together then it would make it even quicker.

    • @samuelkearney880
      @samuelkearney880 3 роки тому

      @Bevan Ward good stuff. They are very quick cars for what the power that they have. They put it down very well and make excellent torque early in the rev range. I would get the haldex controller for one to if I was ever going for one to try and get the drive bias to the rear. Every time you see them on carwow trying to drift them and all they do is push the nose. A haldex controller would help that out a fair bit.

    The only issue here is, by tuning the car, you are voiding your warranty. Fine on an older car that's out of manufacturers warranty, but would you want to risk it on a new car? The gains are small anyway.

    • @awesomecars1

      Small gains? A stock car compared to a stage 1 tuned car of the exact same spec is night and day. Many people can attest that driving them feels like it's a completely new car. Also tuning is a choice :) everyone can do what they like

      Again, as also mentioned in the video. The hardware on the car installed is for stage 2 which doesn't benefit the car much without a custom calibration. Also the point of the video was to show a difference live on the airfield. We did not have time to remove the intercooler or the intake.
