    About Jeremiah Craig
I love telling stories with my music and folk ballads are my passion. This is why I call myself a Balladeer. I’ve included many story elements in my songs since the beginning of my songwriting career in the Rochester, NY area. Then I continued my journey in Phoenix, Seattle, and currently in Boston. In 2004 I made my musical debut with the band Bluegrass Tuesday. In 2006 I formed an original rock/jazz jam band, Jack Swift, who in 2009, went on the “You Don’t Know Jack Tour Spectacular” across five states. I started my solo career in 2011 with my first full-length album, Gardener Hands. I have released 6 albums and several singles and I continue to document my music with video content and I also recently started making videos about cowboy boots!

Cream is for nourishment and readding pigment back into the leather. Wax is for shine and protection.
    Clean
    Condition
    Creame
    Wax
    Usually in that order. 👍

@@JeremiahCraig creame doesn't add protection against water but waxes do. The creames do add pigment back into the leather though. That's a bog thing with dress shoes and bags.

I get it but I don't think it matters especially when wax adds pigment too. You can see it here. The boot looks better without creme. I'm not sold on the necessity of creme before wax

    Jeremiah,
Just discovered your “boot”videos and I’m loving your stuff. I learned how to polish boots in the USAF back in the 60,s, spit shining and all. Not too much has changed except the use of conditioner. I’ve been using Bick 4 for around 6 years now, great product. (Awesome on leather jackets also)
Bought a pair of Tecovas Cartwrights couple years back in Chocolate Calf. Love them. I use Ariat Chocolate boot cream. Works great. One little trick I’ve picked up along the way is to apply Bick 4 and polish around the welt with soft bristle tooth brush. Gets in that area where a rag will not. BTW, I grew up just south of Rochester, NY and worked at Kodak for 28 Yrs. (I think you mentioned being from Rochester)
    Keep the videos coming👍

Tip: To get a better shine, instead of using an old sock, try an old piece of jeans... rub it against the boot and you'll get an incredible effect.

Ive actually transitioned a bit from Kiwi to creme polish, the Swiss and German surplus to be exact. I find I get the best results by using a very small amount and letting the boot dry before buffing. I also made the mistake of putting on too much. I also find that it soaks into the leather a little more.

You should use the cream and THEN use the kiwi polish/wax. The cream adds the pigment back into the color. The kiwi will do the rest. Then maybe the special rag.
Cute song at the end!! Thank you for sharing!! 🌻

  • @handlesarecringe957

    Cream for everyday wear
    Wax for special occasions
Reasoning is that wax will crack if you don't constantly reapply, and needs to be stripped before you add conditioner. Cream soaks into the leather.
Tip: Use cotton balls or your fingers for application, cut up T-shirt for buffing

    • @turtlewolfpack6061

Its not hard, a wax polish like Kiwi is great as the final protectant layer and takes a high shine when using the parade gloss version. The creme polish soaks a bit better into the leather and again seems to be a great final layer after conditioning but is a more subdued finish. However, Kiwi also makes polish that is a bit duller but I have little experience with them. At the end of the day Kiwi is a good product, if used properly.
If you just polish and dont condition many boots will dry rot from the inside out these days as a friend of mine experienced on a very nice pair of Ariats that should have lasted longer than two years as even after constant wear the soles were good and the leather died.

Hmm. I've never used the Bickmore Cream polish. Only the liquid polish. The Kiwi is what I l started using and I used it for a VERY long time. (around 8 years) and then I went to other things. I'd really like to see a comparison between that Bick creme, Saphir Creme Universelle, and something like Leather Honey. For leather that soaks up and dries out too fast, I've found the Leather Honey to be pretty good. I want to konw what you think about them however. I need another bottle of Leather Honey myself, but I can send you my bottle of Creme Universelle. The only negative I've seen with it is to get a GOOD shine, you have to let it really dry into the leather. If not, it'll be a matte finish and try to "grab" the rag. Still worked really well on some leathers, but not on others.
PS: Wait until you try using power tools to polish a lot of boots at once. It gets WILD. hahahaha!!!

Remember, Bickmore is a CREME polish; Kiwi is a WAX polish. Yes, there's a difference! You will get more shine from wax and even better water resistance but it can clog leather pores! Cremes are recommended when leather is starting to lose its color and look dull.

Switch to Lincoln stain wax for wax polish if you want inexpensive but better than kiwi. If you can afford a bit more than Saphir.

Newbie, First thing First take the kiwi ,and light it on fire for a couple seconds, it makes it spread on easier, and then let it dry for a little bit ,then get you a spray bottle with water in it mist water on the boot ,and get a tampon cut the string on it ,spread the cotton on it between your fingers, rub it vigorously on the boot, the cotton will absorb the water but will put a mirror like shine on your boots.

I’m not positive but it doesn’t sound like you’re putting the Kiwi on 100% correctly. For best results after you put the Kiwi on and your shoe gets that grayish black tinge keep rubbing it with your applicator and just keep working that Kiwi into the leather until it starts to shine a little bit again. then come back and buffet with the horse hair brush your end result should be at least as good as your two-stage buffing method. you might even be able to continue using the two-stage buffing method and get it even better result.

Get your self a “tide to go” stick, if you went (outside the lines) per say, you can use the tide stick directly after and a microfiber cloth and it should remove it from the part you don’t want it on or spots you didn’t like the effect it had one. Helps a lot when you have a white strip going straight up on the sides too
