Excellent review, I sort of watched in horror as you cut the beam saber but I understood why haha. I love the older kit reviews. I have wanted this Hizack since I watched Zeta but I'm happy I saw this review first so I can know how much work I'll be in for. The lack of major painting is suprising but the seams will be a challenge.
And I really don't know what I'd do with the energy pipe part on the biceps if I were to paint them. It'd really benefit a lot from a 1.5 update with more weapons and better joints
I really would like to see more kits of grunts suits and revive kits of older ones, especially the Zeons suits. I think Hi-Zack should get an updated design with it, too.
Lore wise, I'd think the extra shield is a cheap attempt at adding more armor to the zaku design, and giving protection from projectiles for another direction.
The hi-zack is actually one of my favorite kits and I have the RG hi nu gundam I found that clear Elmer's glue works surprisingly great for those pesky tubes that won't stay in place And omitting a part of the elbow joints gives it more of an elbow bend and the very tiny cost of the polycap being visible which in an actual scenario you barely notice
To enjoy this and the EWAC Zack, I tried out yours and Kakarot197's suggestion of using the old 1/144 weapons. They kinda work on the HGUC Hizacks. I cut out the trigger guard on the beam rifle as a compromise.
do you have old kits with these soft rubber-y parts, how do they age? I'm relatively new to gunpla, but I have very old non-gunpla artifacts with I think similar material which fall into 2 cases: either they get sticky - jellybean like or they dry up and crack - even without tension.
The type used here is the softened polystyrene so it's okay with age. The sticky ones are probably gashapon or toy products that use PVC. Oil seeps out from them and the material gets really gross and sticky. Sadly unavoidable... Some other materials like TPE really do get quite brittle and crack as they age
I disagree on being hard for builders. I’m pretty new to painting and have worked on a few kits only. This kit is by far the best kit I’ve worked on for seam line removal & painting!
I do get it, the inner muzzle part sanding seems tricky, I was able to do it on mine but I'm not too happy with the results, other than that cleaning the top of the head seam is fine.
@@andagean yea I had an issue with that too. I think I just went after it with an exacto blade then a small slit of sandpaper on a broken popsicle stick
@@HobbyClubhouse with current gunpla drought (outside of build divers and SD related stuff) any announcement would be fine at this point :D I've complained some time ago that we're STILL waiting for some models announced about a year ago without any bigger event since then, but situation is so bad now that even p-bandai slowed from one new announcement per week to once per month... (which I'm actually fine with, because with current limits it's hard to buy anything even from proxy sellers)
Now you sort of got your wish because we are getting an extensive remold of it as the A.O.Z Reboot version of the Hobby Hizack albeit Gundam Base exclusive
The Zaku machine gun being used after the OYW is not as silly as you might think considering they fire shells bigger than tank shells all in full auto. The power of the Zaku machine gun is something the anime really fail to portray after the protagonist gets the Gundam, something that also happens in other universes like with the Daughtress machine gun in Gundam X.
i was going to see about buying this kit, but after this review, I'ma just wait for a Revive to happen or, better yet, wait for the MG 2.0. same goes for the Marasai lol
Let's be honest here, whether it be Bandai, the fandom, or even it's home anime, NOBODY saw the Hizack as anything but utterly pathetic(It can only use ONE BEAM WEAPON AT A TIME!!!), and I feel this model kit reflects that. This was most likely made either so Bandai could use the Zakus coattails to get a bit more cash, or because some loud completionists demanded it. A joke of a suit translated into a joke of a model.
@@HobbyClubhouse I guess they didn't want to confuse the kids why the zakus are good guys now, even if this zeon-like camo doesn't make any sense in-lore for a titans machine.

I think so too, even if it's the horrible P-Bandai kind where they add new parts to it. The Hizack has a lot of fans and it's trapped in an aging body
I can’t believe they made the fucking Hobby one for P-Bandai exclusivity and haven’t made a normal one
Lore wise, I'd think the extra shield is a cheap attempt at adding more armor to the zaku design, and giving protection from projectiles for another direction.
This review made me track one down! I love it, and now I have to get the EWAC one too! Thanks HobbyClubHouse
This one is so cheap, I’m getting it just for the hell of it with a big order from Canadian Gundam
It really is nice and cheap, and the build isn't complicated or fussy either. Sure hope you'll enjoy yours
@Bob H same here, like 16 bucks

9:00 imagine a pilot gingerly holding those missile pods in place during battle 😅
I already have this guy, I want to gather multiple of these for a AOZ Titans collection
If they pulled a Rick Dias P-Bandai move with the Hi-Zack I would be very happy.
If Bandai were smart, they really should. That'd be three kits for them to re-sell: default colors, EFSF colors, EWAC Zack

Does there sepose to be a spesific sand paper or smth like that for the stress marks or whatever those plastic parts from the frame were called?

3 years later we now have a New Hi-Zack Mold
It bugs me to no end they did it in the AOZ styling. I like it too, but I kinda want a regular chubby Hizack Custom...
I am guessing it won't happen but a revive version of the HG Hi Zack will be cool.
It really would be. A P-Bandai 1.5 update would be fine too at this point

@@gelgoorx i agree with you . On another case i really want Bandai to give us a De nan zan kit the grunt from F91 I really like that suit.

how about no p bandai update and yes standard revive update
I'd be first in line to buy a revive of the Hizack
How about a Hizack Custom?
I just need it to make a custom desert zaku (unicorn version)
does the beam rifle from the HGUC Marasai fit into the hand without any modifications?
Hm, I actually don't know. I should go try it out when I get my Marasai out of storage
Old comment but no. Thanks to the peg on the gun it won’t fit in, you need to snip it off.
What is that magazine with all the kits?
This kit is the same age as me down to the month. Dunno just find that tickles my funny bone.

They need to reprint the MG now, they're being scalped at a minimum $100 with shipping on Ebay :
Luckily i bought both the HG and MG versions of the Hi-Zack. At least the MG version is alot better put together.
What kind of Gundam book is that
Maybe the shield is a trade mark for the feds
I enjoyed a great video let's be friends.

It really is a case of Sunrise / Bandai leaning on the easily recognizability of the Zaku-look and therefore, bad guys must have a Zaku-stand-in

Pronounced gun-duhm not gun-dam....the movie versions of the original series had horrible voice actors that couldnt say it right..
God I hate this design so much…
Why? I think it’s a cool upgrade to the Zaku II
