    HUNTR is the project we should have started years ago. It's our excuse to work less and hunt more. We're not the world's greatest hunters by any means but we're not afraid to get aggressive and learn from our mistakes. From northeastern whitetails to western muleys, we're dreaming up hunts, putting in for tags, finding ground, and doing everything in our power to get it done.
    Podcasts drop Tuesday nights, season 1 drops fall 2021, & there's merch in the store if you dig our stuff!
    We want to hear from you! Whether you've got a story to share, a question for the guys, or want to tell us what we're doing wrong, it's all good.

    Talking about baiting deer...we bait in south Georgia but rarely can you kill a big buck in south GA over a corn pile big ones only come in at night and you still have to kill them somewhere else other than the feeder. In a place where everywhere is thick bedding you definitly have to be a great woodsmen and know your stuff. come give south GA and Florida a try guys. great show guys

    I knew it…you guys are all in on the red moon now. I used to pay attention to it when I was younger but now with my time being limited(wife/kids) I get out when I can and I don’t get the luxury to hunt the red moon or best weather patterns.
    Ben was an awesome guest and I will be looking to hear more from him. He’s a stone cold killer. I admit, I’m one of those guys that would find it hard to pass a 140” buck with bow as yes I’d love to get one bigger, but I passed deer for a number of years that neighbors ended up getting and then I go without. I’ve stalled in that evolution as a hunter but I also can admit I’m not smart enough yet to consistently go after giant bucks

    • @HUNTRPOD

      Anyone who tells you it’s not hard to pass 140s is either lying or hunts for big racks and nothing more. To have a 140 under your stand should get any hunters heart pounding

      Im with you Josh. If 140s are the biggest bucks in your area, well then...you cant shoot what isnt there. So thats the choice we make...shoot or move to another county or state.

    Hunting based off the moon is more of a guide than definitive. But it is remarkably accurate in certain fair conditions. Imo

    I live in Tennessee and baiting is illegal. The neighbor and I was sharing trail cam pic and funny’s how all their heads are down and yellow acorns everywhere. Makes you wanna bait at some point, especially after he wounded a nice ten point last year

    It's great to see there is still great woodsmen out there. People can do whatever is legal but I prefer to hunt the deer on their natural patterns throughout their range rather than sitting over a bait pile. I like the supplemental feed during the off season but stopping about a month before season.

    Ben is spot on with moonphase back in high school I worked an apple orchard and struck a deal with my vo-tech teacher that allowed me to leave early for work if I did some type of project it was in the 90s and moonphase was hitting the. Hunting community hard. So my project was deer movement vs moonphase and there are two major phases a month that I would see more deer especially bucks coming into the orchard during daylight. First was a morning major and evening minor and second was a evening major and morning minor. It’s been 20 something years and I still plan my whole season around the late October moons for peak scrape phase. Which has been my #1 day for killing mature deer

    I live in north west ohio and I don’t hunt over corn I’d rather hunt a creek or river crossing with water👍My experience with corn you will not see a mature buck during day light unless a hot doe brings him or wait until the snow hits🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌

    I have paid attention every month for the last 5 years to the Full moon because of hunting coyotes under the moon in the winter. Every month the full moon brings some type of change. Maybe very small like it gets windy, rains, Snows, Temps fluctuate, etc,, or will bring crazy storms. Don't matter. There is some change EVERY full moon

    Someone needs to take a look at game harvest reporting and see if there is any correlation with red moon dates. Also compare the red moon to B&C records maybe.

    Great episode! I subscribed to Bens channel deff agree with alot of what he says. They took baiting away in Michigan which don't bother me I don't want to hail corn miles back on public lol only thing sucks about it Is the money loss from local farmers and small party stores that sell bait. I also say the same thing lol I always say there just timber goats to people they just over think it sometimes wasn't tell about 6 years ago I started killing mature deer in northern Michigan once I started to relax quit over thinking

    Wow, what a difference this was compared to the Bill Winke podcast. While Bill has just as many great bucks under his belt, his attitude is humble, inclusive, and encouraging to the average hunter. Meanwhile, this guy has a full wall of trophies and is still bitter at hunters that shoot 150 inch deer? Give me a break.
    As you know, hunter numbers are declining and we are literally a dying breed. This elitist attitude is exactly what we don't need for our sport.

    • @HUNTRPOD
      @HUNTRPOD  2 роки тому

      Thank for your point of view. I think Ben’s view is not because someone kills a 150, as much as younger bucks with potential. That said, shoot what makes you happy!

    What phase of the moon is the “red moon”? Anybody?

    • @HUNTRPOD
      @HUNTRPOD  2 роки тому +1

      Not a phase-based phenomenon, but rather position and specifically when closest to earth and with 3 of dawn or dusk… or that’s what we are told 😂

    • @kccuffsman
      @kccuffsman 2 роки тому

      @@HUNTRPOD seems like it would be phase related if it’s every month? 🤔

    • @russelllangworthy8855
      @russelllangworthy8855 2 роки тому

      @@HUNTRPOD Actually, the red moon is Indirectly based on phase. When the moon is straight overhead at sunset, it's always a half moon. Technically, it's called the quarter moon, but we're seeing half of the moon so I call it the half moon. Astronomically, this never changes. It will ALWAYS be a half moon at sunset when it's directly overhead.
