  • Will revisit this toolum!
1 1/2 cups of sugar- add more sugar if toolum is not coming together
A bit of water or the molasses (not too much water, else it will loose the color) to help melt or caramelize the sugar to prevent it from scorching or use molasses
1/3 cup of molasses- add 1 cup of molosses instead of 1/3 cup if you want your toolum to have a darker brown
    2 cups of grated coconut
    1 tablespoon of grated ginger
1 teaspoon of grated orange zest
*Retain some liquid in the toolum so you can have that tarry sticky texture.

I came across your channel by accident and I must say these are great recipes. In Belize we make something similar to this called "Tableta" , but instead of using molasses we scorch the brown sugar a bit before adding the water.

Wow! You see similar foods but different ways of doing it. We actually melt the sugar a bit and put molasses in it, but this sugar was giving me some trouble. I hope one day I can try tablets. I love to try different foods.

I have to do it over myself! Put molasses in the sugar instead of the water and read in the discription for more details.

That is exactly how you make it, the only thing that should be round is the tambram/tamarind balls

I believe so, you should definitely try with a small amount of coconut and see the result.

Thanks for uploading! If you have a second, I uploaded a cover of Marvin Gaye. As a fellow music fan, I'd love if you'd take a listen. It's on my channel. Hope you like it!
