I second that; I find that palettes with 5 or 6 shades are the perfect size for me. They make quick everyday looks, but have enough variety for "day vs. night" and "cool vs. warm" looks when I'm traveling.

I have absolutely converted to quads and mini palettes over the past couple of years. I'm so glad I finally realized it's not necessary to have 30 shades to choose from to create a look. My absolute favorites are the ColourPop nude quads, I love and use all 6!

Hey Emily! I bought that Flower Beauty eyeshadow quad a few weeks back, I was attracted to the "Fog" color you pointed out. But I found that I can't wear that specific shade, it looks like a bruise on me! Fair skin, cool undertones with rosacea always lurking under the surface, dark ashy blonde hair, brown eyes, everything I'd think would make that shadow work. The other shades are beautiful, easy to apply and blend. I'll save the Fog for when I want to quit work early, I can look pretty awful if I apply that one with a finger smear to my undereyes. Or I could use a wet touch-up brush on the hood part of my upper eyelid. Thanks for your presentation! PS My favorite 4-pan is my Chanel in plummy-mauvy tones, very much like what you're wearing today. The pink shimmer in that quad is different than anything else I've ever seen, and it's my only high-end kit! Luscious luxury, I guess I deserve a little! Thanks again!
My favorite little palette is the Natasha Denona mini Biba palette. I love the quality and the shades are perfect for me. In general I love the small eyeshadow palettes. It makes it easy to mix and match to really customize and play.

I LOVED this video idea! I love all eyeshadow, but I really have a special place in my heart for mini palettes. I’d love to see you do a mini palettes video! I know last year there was a lot of top 3 in every category videos going around, and I loved watching them. I thought I wish people would do these every 6 months to a year, because it’s fun to see the top current favorites from people who try a lot of makeup. I just love favorites videos, and could watch a favorite quads video from you every year, or a favorite whatever else video.
As a matte eyeshadow lover, I was so excited to try that elf love you a latte palette. To me it is just perfection for an everyday look. That formula is just so good for that price point. I use it often especially when I'm tired getting ready and just don't feel creative. I like how it's neutral and not too warm or too cool. I just got the truffles palette and I plan to use that more in the summertime when I'm tan. My favorite new matte quad is from shop Miss A, the Saturn one. It's not quite as pigmented as the elf bite-size, but it's a cool lovers dream as well. Now that is a great price point LOL

Emily your wants and needs palettes made me fall in love with larger palettes. They were perfectly done right. They did not overwhelm me. I felt like I got just what I wanted. And they made buying makeup fun. And also I loved all the names of the shades . They were cute,sweet, and uplifting.
Having a quad that has your perfect transition shades and can create your everyday basic looks is one of the best things to have. This makes it easy to pair with 1 or 2 singles, other mini palettes, bigger palettes, or colorful palettes. My fav quads are the Colourpop Totally Nude all matte ones that aren't sold any more. They weren't hyped up at all, but they're so good!! They were separated by depth and warmth so u could hone in on the one for ur skintone easily and the formula is so buttery smooth! I got the She's A Natural quad and I normally use it with either 1 or 2 Super Shocks, a mini palette (elf's Coral Me Maybe), bigger neutral palettes missing my transition shades (ABH Primrose, CP Coral Me Maybe), or colorful palettes (Oden's Eye Hummingbird, BH Lost in Los Angeles, etc.).

Juvias place has great 4 or 6 pan shadows. I use the Nubian palette probably more than anything else I own. No matter how you apply any of the colors it looks great every time. Dose of color 5 pan shadows are some of the best I’ve ever used. Also the elf everyday palette is very loved. It seems to have a quad set up. 4 colors together that create great looks.
For the everyday the simpler the better. I'm too tired and rushed to deal with huge pallettes or full glam. BTW, if people hadn't been with you for a little bit they would think you decorated for spring/Easter. 😅 Keep rocking it as long as you can. Have a great weekend and Easter.

My favorite time of the weekend; Saturday morning with Emily! I love a basic quad. As you said, it makes planning out your eye look so simple!! I love the Elf Bite Size quads. I especially love Truffle!! It has such amazing range for a 4 color palette. I’ve tried to get the L’Oréal Boudoir quad but I’m never able to find it anywhere. I remember you mentioning it in another quad video a year or two ago. The Clinique quad is singing my name because the colors are among my favorites to put on my eyes! I’ve made some decent progress at home w/committing myself to doing some SERIOUS cleaning, cleaning out & decluttering of my entire place l, incl. my makeup “wardrobe” (as Emily calls it)😉💜in that clean out. I’d say that my bathroom & “😉makeup “wardrobe”😉was 1 of thee longest, most unpleasant cleaning/decluttering jobs I’ve ever done in the 12 yrs I’ve bn here. Why? Well aside from things getting ridiculously out of control, It forced me to come to terms w/some unpleasant truths about my makeup purchasing/addiction. Now to be fair w/myself, this had been fueled by a very healthy, creative outlet & love for all things makeup. I don’t know when I crossed that invisible line from makeup collector & user to addictive buyer exactly but with the industry becoming over saturated, I do remember when I began constantly searching for that 1 product or formula or shade or brush that’s “just a little better” than a current fave or finding/trying that 1 brush or primer or bronzer shade or whatever that’s “just perfect” whether I already had 2 or 3 favorites already. I think I developed this unconscious, irrational drive bcz somewhere I believed that my 1 true holy grail perfect product or item was out there & I HAD to find it - so that it could replace all others for all time. I know, so stupid. Well, when it got to a point where there was NO MORE ROOM left to store anymore & beauty products & all my supplies had completely taken over my entire bathroom & 2 trunks & a few other storage spaces I had created, of course I started to become overwhelmed bcz I had to address things. Both internally & externally. But for a while I avoided addressing anything at all. I wasn’t ready. When things got to a point where I really WANTED to clean out, clean up, declutter, paint, etc, I had to face the reality of my issues head on. I hated it. It depressed me & I was full of regret and guilt. So these past several months have been difficult but simultaneously freeing. I’m nowhere near finished w/the cleaning & painting etc. But I did get all my makeup decluttered, narrowed down & under control. I kept what I love & actually use. I threw out expired stuff, gave away what I could (I’m the only makeup lover in my entire family/friend circle except for my niece unfortunately) & I have plenty of items I can tag sale (not just beauty products) then I’ll donate the rest afterwards. I’ve always had good outcomes when I tag sale things. I never put out stuff that SHOULD BE in the trash lol. I had a particularly difficult time parting w/makeup items that I more/less like to buy & hoard. Like lip pencils, cream contour/bronzers, eyeshadow palettes, colored eye liners, & lately, cream blush but I did pretty good parting w/my current favorite hoarding products - except for lip pencils. I have a problem with buying & keeping lip pencils. I probably could’ve done better w/those. But I did do really well this yr with the Ulta & Sephora Sales. I did a small fraction of the damage I’m known to do during those - it’s so unnecessary, wasteful & unhealthy. But l this yr I stocked up the things I regularly use. But I did try a Strivectin skin care set, I bought Patrick Ta’s new eyeshadow palette & 1 if his new glosses & his lip pencils restocked after waiting forever & I FINALLY was able to get “She’s Bold”. I got Too Faced Sunset Stripped palette, 1 new Refy & 1 new Makeup by Mario lip pencil, I got 1 new blush shade by Fenty-rose latte & a Nudestix cream blush-bronzer stick in “Deep maple”. Think that’s most of it. But the fact is that I didn’t NEED any of it. Justifying a lesser purchase is like an alcoholic trying some “controlled drinking”. This shit is serious & I need to address what is going on beneath my filling a void with buying makeup. This doesn’t feel like JUST my love for makeup anymore. It’s evolved into something else. Or that “something else” is trying to surface & instead of looking within & addressing it, I’ve been stuffing it down & putting a “shopping & buying bandade” over it. To fill a void in my heart & in my life. I don’t want to do that anymore. So I hope this goes well. If you’ve gotten this far - 👏 👏 👏 bravo I didn’t put u to sleep lol. I’m sorry if I’m a downer today I don’t mean to be. I didn’t realize I’d be sharing all this! Everyone have a nice weekend & thanks for taking the time to read about my pathetic problems. 🙃👍💜💚

i have a quad from color pop that is all matte and has the perfect transition shade for me and a brightening shade and 2 deeper shades. i keep it in my top drawer and reach for it a ton if i’m working with a palette that doesn’t have a good transition shade or something like that. or i use it on a quick makeup day for a natural eye look. it’s fantastic.

I’ve been using the Bitzy quads you buy at Sally’s checkout. You buy a case and pick out your own inserts. Love this. Even has a mirror.

Yep, that's how I use my CP all-matte quad! A quad w crease shades makes a really great palette for palettes that don't have them, big or small. 😍

Emily your wants and needs palettes made me fall in love with larger palettes. They were perfectly done right. They did not overwhelm me. I felt like I got just what I wanted. And they made buying makeup fun. And also I loved all the names of the shades . They were cute,sweet, and uplifting.

Having a quad that has your perfect transition shades and can create your everyday basic looks is one of the best things to have. This makes it easy to pair with 1 or 2 singles, other mini palettes, bigger palettes, or colorful palettes.
My fav quads are the Colourpop Totally Nude all matte ones that aren't sold any more. They weren't hyped up at all, but they're so good!! They were separated by depth and warmth so u could hone in on the one for ur skintone easily and the formula is so buttery smooth! I got the She's A Natural quad and I normally use it with either 1 or 2 Super Shocks, a mini palette (elf's Coral Me Maybe), bigger neutral palettes missing my transition shades (ABH Primrose, CP Coral Me Maybe), or colorful palettes (Oden's Eye Hummingbird, BH Lost in Los Angeles, etc.).
I have been hunting for the perfect matte, basic eyeshadow product that would give me a quick, reliable look for what seems like months, THANK YOU for this review on the Gxve quad!! This looks perfect for what I need!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the old school maybelline quads. Chai latte is my favorite, i keep on repurchasing that one over and over
Hi Em! Could you do some looks with your The Wants palette?? I always tend to stick with neutral "safe" looks and really wanna branch out of that and you make everything look so beautiful and effortless 💛💛
Juvias place has great 4 or 6 pan shadows. I use the Nubian palette probably more than anything else I own. No matter how you apply any of the colors it looks great every time. Dose of color 5 pan shadows are some of the best I’ve ever used. Also the elf everyday palette is very loved. It seems to have a quad set up. 4 colors together that create great looks.
For the everyday the simpler the better. I'm too tired and rushed to deal with huge pallettes or full glam. BTW, if people hadn't been with you for a little bit they would think you decorated for spring/Easter. 😅 Keep rocking it as long as you can. Have a great weekend and Easter.

You have helped me so much on how to buy eyeshadows which were my area of weakness. I was getting everything I saw that looked pretty. Lots of Colourpop, Juvia's Place, Essence, Morphe, Your two of course then Two Faced, just too much. But you, Emily have helped me know how and what to buy and I thank you so much. I love ELF and have all of the Quads and other stuff. I don't trust myself to go on Amazon. I have been a bad girl Emily but now I am so much better thanks to you. My favorite time of the weekend; Saturday morning with Emily! I love a basic quad. As you said, it makes planning out your eye look so simple!! I love the Elf Bite Size quads. I especially love Truffle!! It has such amazing range for a 4 color palette. I’ve tried to get the L’Oréal Boudoir quad but I’m never able to find it anywhere. I remember you mentioning it in another quad video a year or two ago. The Clinique quad is singing my name because the colors are among my favorites to put on my eyes! I’ve made some decent progress at home w/committing myself to doing some SERIOUS cleaning, cleaning out & decluttering of my entire place l, incl. my makeup “wardrobe” (as Emily calls it)😉💜in that clean out. I’d say that my bathroom & “😉makeup “wardrobe”😉was 1 of thee longest, most unpleasant cleaning/decluttering jobs I’ve ever done in the 12 yrs I’ve bn here. Why? Well aside from things getting ridiculously out of control, It forced me to come to terms w/some unpleasant truths about my makeup purchasing/addiction. Now to be fair w/myself, this had been fueled by a very healthy, creative outlet & love for all things makeup. I don’t know when I crossed that invisible line from makeup collector & user to addictive buyer exactly but with the industry becoming over saturated, I do remember when I began constantly searching for that 1 product or formula or shade or brush that’s “just a little better” than a current fave or finding/trying that 1 brush or primer or bronzer shade or whatever that’s “just perfect” whether I already had 2 or 3 favorites already. I think I developed this unconscious, irrational drive bcz somewhere I believed that my 1 true holy grail perfect product or item was out there & I HAD to find it - so that it could replace all others for all time. I know, so stupid. Well, when it got to a point where there was NO MORE ROOM left to store anymore & beauty products & all my supplies had completely taken over my entire bathroom & 2 trunks & a few other storage spaces I had created, of course I started to become overwhelmed bcz I had to address things. Both internally & externally. But for a while I avoided addressing anything at all. I wasn’t ready. When things got to a point where I really WANTED to clean out, clean up, declutter, paint, etc, I had to face the reality of my issues head on. I hated it. It depressed me & I was full of regret and guilt. So these past several months have been difficult but simultaneously freeing. I’m nowhere near finished w/the cleaning & painting etc. But I did get all my makeup decluttered, narrowed down & under control. I kept what I love & actually use. I threw out expired stuff, gave away what I could (I’m the only makeup lover in my entire family/friend circle except for my niece unfortunately) & I have plenty of items I can tag sale (not just beauty products) then I’ll donate the rest afterwards. I’ve always had good outcomes when I tag sale things. I never put out stuff that SHOULD BE in the trash lol.
I had a particularly difficult time parting w/makeup items that I more/less like to buy & hoard. Like lip pencils, cream contour/bronzers, eyeshadow palettes, colored eye liners, & lately, cream blush but I did pretty good parting w/my current favorite hoarding products - except for lip pencils. I have a problem with buying & keeping lip pencils. I probably could’ve done better w/those. But I did do really well this yr with the Ulta & Sephora Sales. I did a small fraction of the damage I’m known to do during those - it’s so unnecessary, wasteful & unhealthy. But l this yr I stocked up the things I regularly use. But I did try a Strivectin skin care set, I bought Patrick Ta’s new eyeshadow palette & 1 if his new glosses & his lip pencils restocked after waiting forever & I FINALLY was able to get “She’s Bold”. I got Too Faced Sunset Stripped palette, 1 new Refy & 1 new Makeup by Mario lip pencil, I got 1 new blush shade by Fenty-rose latte & a Nudestix cream blush-bronzer stick in “Deep maple”.
Think that’s most of it. But the fact is that I didn’t NEED any of it. Justifying a lesser purchase is like an alcoholic trying some “controlled drinking”. This shit is serious & I need to address what is going on beneath my filling a void with buying makeup. This doesn’t feel like JUST my love for makeup anymore. It’s evolved into something else. Or that “something else” is trying to surface & instead of looking within & addressing it, I’ve been stuffing it down & putting a “shopping & buying bandade” over it. To fill a void in my heart & in my life. I don’t want to do that anymore. So I hope this goes well. If you’ve gotten this far - 👏 👏 👏 bravo I didn’t put u to sleep lol. I’m sorry if I’m a downer today I don’t mean to be. I didn’t realize I’d be sharing all this! Everyone have a nice weekend & thanks for taking the time to read about my pathetic problems. 🙃👍💜💚

I have never seen a makeup color that doesnt look amazing on you!!! You are my fave content creator. Revlon has some that look so pretty but no one ever talks about them so I havent purchased.
That ELF i love you alatte quad made me fall in love w/ all matte looks 🤩🙌 i put it in a makeup project & really enjoyed it....first use I wasnt impressed but the more I used it through that project...I really do love it as well!!!

i have a quad from color pop that is all matte and has the perfect transition shade for me and a brightening shade and 2 deeper shades. i keep it in my top drawer and reach for it a ton if i’m working with a palette that doesn’t have a good transition shade or something like that. or i use it on a quick makeup day for a natural eye look. it’s fantastic.
