Yes dawn he certainly had a god given voice, any song that he sang effortlessly. We are still so blessed to either his recordings or live performances. Bobby is still melting ❤'s after all this years. He is dearly missed.
Now that is how you react people, you wait till the song is over. This stopping every 6 seconds is ridiculous they do not get the context of the song even the voice coaches keep quiet till it is over and then respond. Great reaction great job.
I have great respect for Bobby Hatfield, but I suspect he would have said those runs came from listening to predecessors like Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson and Clyde McPhatter, whose influence could be heard in Jackie’s singing as well. They all had gospel backgrounds, and that kind of singing has long been a feature of gospel singing.
@@gidneyandcloyd Melismas, aka vocal runs, are older than that. It is found in chant from various religious contexts starting in antiquity, baroque singing, opera and in singing from quite a number of cultures.
I'm late to the party again. If you want to see more of the essence of the Righteous Brothers there are many videos from the Shindig Show where they were known for letting it rip like this. It's what we looked forward to every week. Loved your reaction to "Summertime". It's a real treat for us old birds when the younger generations discover what these two were capable of doing with their vocals. Many more mind blowing performances to find.
I am totally impressed with your reaction to this song. I was a baby when The Righteous Brothers hit the air waves. My Mom had one of their very first albums. She was just as impressed with Bobby & Bill as those of us who are just now realizing the treasure of these voices. Glad you enjoyed as much as you did! Peace...
You were totally impressed when I suggested you do "Unchained Melody". Then you had to see what Bill sounded like with "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling". This is another great performance from Bobby. You want to do "Soul And Inspiration" and "Just Once In my Life". I saw them do those four songs live in 1979 in Laguna Beach California, met them and shook their hands. They are considered to be the Best Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. They get my vote.
Here's a link from Shindig with both brothers having fun singing "I Need Your Loving Everyday" and especially Bobby's bod gets to moving. ua-cam.com/users/clipUgkxM245RH8uoOh3aK60fu9wgFs9oCDpYR84
The toys this man possessed were without a doubt unappreciated in his day...the Righteous Brothers were the 1 album I ever owned. Oh, how I miss my 66 GTO, the Wolfman, reverb, and the Wall of Sound...it is righteous that the youth of today can see and hear what we took for granted. Someone PLEASE remaster this version and release it as AN ALBLUM
Yes @hkblt3 I keep trying to request this, but continually forget the name. (Freudian much.) Anyway, I implore you to play "I Just Want To Make Love To You." JM : o )
Here's another great performance by "Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - The Time Of My Life" this was a huge hit, and it was also the soundtrack to a massively popular movie, (you may know it) "Dirty Dancing" this was a duet, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you have heard parts of this song before. Nice reaction JMBOY thanks for sharing🎶👍
The song Bill Medley sings after this explosive "Summertime" by Bobby slows it down but fits Bill's deep baritone voice great & there's a video of it. "Old Man River". It was in the musical movie "Showboat" that I loved seeing at the age of 6.
Talk about "So Much Soul".... Check this out, a lot of babies were conceived to this incredible song......Major Harris - Love Won't Let Me Wait.... Or this Amazing vocals from.... Chaka Khan - Got To Be There.
Just for contrast ... this is the song Bobby was introducing for Bill ua-cam.com/video/aJtEViPMfy8/v-deo.html They sang a lot of blues and yes, 'I Just Wanna Make Love to You' is another good one....ua-cam.com/video/16rnqBZURIc/v-deo.html
Booby Hatfield... Robert Plant... John Lennon... Freddie Mercury The four Greatest Male Vocalist you have heard, so far. well this just might be the greatest female you'll hear...... Chaka Khan - Got To Be There. OR... My favorite female singer/song writer....Carly Simon - Coming Around Again / Itsy Bitsy Spider (Live)
Great Reaction!! Agree with hkbit3 - next up, you have to give the other brother, Bill Medley, his fair shake and check out "I Just Want to Make Love to You."
I gave you a thumbs up because I don't have the kind of guts it would take to do my own channel. The only thing I would say is make the video you're watching bigger and you smaller, so what I'm looking at right now should be you in a smallbox and the singer in a bigger box. It's otherwise it's great, you've seen nice, but you know what? You're gain more viewers.
You want SOUL..... Tower Of Power - You're Still A Young Man.... OR this legendary singer, Joe Cocker - Now That The Magic Has Gone (LIVE in Dortmund) HD
His voice was incredible!.....great reaction...thanks mate....you should really check out Janis Joplin's version of this song ua-cam.com/video/bn5TNqjuHiU/v-deo.html .....peace

Yay, with your beautiful smile. That was brilliant !
Bobby is the guy who created the vocal runs melodic style everybody copies today.

1965. Live. Before autotune. Before computer audio. Just natural talent and a microphone.
Great song-great reaction!
Live. Him and microphone.
Unbelievable rendition

Now you’ll have to listen to Bill Medley’s soul in “I Just Want To Make Love to You”. He brings in Bobby later in the song!
