apparently after buying this from ali express, I found a action figure group where there was a story about this product. Apparently there was some molds that were stolen or a custom creator's design were used without permission and we got this product. I guess it's not good to support something like that but I found the evidence of the screenshots to be pretty damning! I wanted to return it but now i think it's past the window. oh well.
Aw man, that sucks. I know a lot of 3rd party companies will do that kind of shady stuff, and it's hard to know when you're accidentally participating in that. Especially when sometimes the sculptors will sell legitimately sell the files to the company, even though neither of them have a license to make anything based on the IP. No honor among thieves, I guess.
HELL YEAH Now you gotta do a Morty and the ship to display next to the Doc and Marty, I think a Michael Cera head would be good for Morty Would be pretty funny if you swap the Doc and Marty heads with them too

It’s in the middle row of heads , the first face is supposed to be his “normal” expression. It just looks weird lol 💯🤝🏻 it almost looks scared when it should look more annoyed with his eyelids half way shut and not wide open eyes.
9:25 I got the same headsculpt, found my copy on etsy. There's at least a couple more in that style i need to get at some point. I used it for my custom and I'm really happy with it. I appreciate how this figure matches the show's style, but it feels pretty uncanny to me. Also the skin tone is different than i expect. I think of Rick as more gray.
Yeah you’re totally right about that. I still need to paint mine, haha. I saw one online the other day that was a more neutral expression of the same head sculpt, which I liked better than the one I got 😅 Glad you’re happy with the one you got!
Hello. I recently bought Joy Man Toys Rick. I learned that they used Mezco Vapor Gomez as the body. However, the hand and foot joints do not seem very strong. In case it breaks, I am thinking of doing a body swap. Do you have any information about which body it is compatible with?
I think you'd be better off trying to strengthen the joints with a little hot glue in the sockets or something. I've never seen a body with this skin tone, so matching the head color would be next to impossible unless you did a full repaint.

I'm glad! I don't review everything I get, but I thought people would probably be curious about this one, and IDK how many other people were going to post one so I figured it'd be worth it. My theory on the gloves is that they copied them from a Mezco figure, (which is not a good thing, of course) and that figure specifically is kind of a blend of cartoony/realistic, so it fit the vibe better than one of the non-gloved, realistic sets of hands out there.
The amount of accessories is cool, but I think the mark was kinda missed on this one. First, out if 10 heads, I really dont like any of them much... as you said, no "neutral" Rick head... smug woulda been great. Plus, I think it's a bit weird having soft goods on animated charachters. Having said that, it's not terrible. It's a decent non-official release. I would have just personally done things a little differently. Sik
Yeah, I think those are all very valid criticisms. Something I have to work hard to remember when I review a figure is that, as a customizer, if I don't like something on a figure, I just change it. But not everyone does that, haha. Ideally these things are perfect out of the box and require no work. I knew I'd be doing either a head swap or a repaint to make it more "realistic" as soon as I saw this go up for order online, because the gap between the realism of the soft-goods and the cartoonish look of the heads is pretty wide. I think that goes to your point about them missing the mark a bit. I will say, I think I would have been a lot more critical of it if it weren't such an incredible price. The head/hair are taller than a normal mezco by about a CM. So he’s taller than a marvel legend or Hasbro GI Joe, and at least a half inch shorter than a McFarlane DC figure, for reference. They’re ikea Vittsjo shelves, and I enclosed them with custom-cut plexiglass that I attached magnets to. They’re great shelves and you can fit a lot on them.
Ok you sold me on it.. was gonna pass because of the hands and no normal rick sculpt. They added so many random items from episodes lol but couldn't just give us a standard head lol I'm over it tho.. hes got enough expressions
Yeah, I personally wasn't impressed with the Samurai Jack or the Batman TAS Mezco tease. It's all subjective of course (lots of people will love them), but that's why I got the more realistic head to paint for this (I re-painted that Woody figure from this company as well). I think they need that extra nudge toward realism to make it all work. When I paint the head I bought I'll probably repaint 1 or 2 of these cartoony ones with real skin tone as well. I love that creepy/real cartoon look, lol.

Wouldn’t have been hard to change the hands. I wish it had more normal faces and that all the heads were just sized up to be more accurate to the show

Def didn’t survive the transition to 3D figure with cloth goods, I don’t think Mezco’s samurai Jack is gonna do much better
