I would love it if you included a singer Dimash has called, a 'National Treasure'. I am speaking of Daneliya Tuleshova. She is 16 right now but has been in the Kazakh singing world since she was 8 yrs. old. She leapt to the world's awareness in 2017 when as a 10 year she had her blind audition for The Voice Kids Ukraine, where she 'Stone Cold' by Demi Lovato. The judges all turned for not even ten words into her singing. Her whole audition lasted 10:30 minutes because she was asked to do a second song, not just a portion of the song she just finished, but a whole new song. She sang a popular Ukrainian song pronounced Tree My but spelled Try May. Not only was the song Ukrainian, she sang it in Ukrainian which is why the judges reacted the way they do. Thank you once again! Your enthusiasm and attention to Dimash's singing is always welcomed. That is a 2 stringed instrument called 'Dombra'. It is the 'soul of Kazakhstan'. Almost every home in Kazakhstan has one. Dimash's father is an expert. Dimash plays about 7 instruments btw. Daididau is a traditional Kazakh song. Every one in Kazakhstan knows it. It is about devoted lovers who were separated. The man was falsely accused of treason and sent to prison. While there, he was told a lie that his love no longer loved him. He wrote this heartbreaking letter to her believing the lie. He later was released and reunited with his love and discovered the truth, that she was always faithful to him and to their everlasting love. He was then arrested again and put to death falsely for treason. This is that letter to Daididau. Dimash has sung this song many times at concert. (the audience sings with him too) There is another performance that he did after this one on 'I Am Singer'. Dimash had his solo concert in Bastau, Kazakhstan and did this amazing performance of 'Daididau'. It is apparent at the beginning that he is having problems with his inner ear monitors and he takes them out. He then continues to sing an incredible and emotional song that brings him to his tears on his knees with the crowd roaring in approval. @@GOTGames yes you must see the Adai+Daididau performance from Bastau, as well as Daybreak from Bastau if you haven’t seen it yet. They are epic.
Dimash studied piano from the age of 5, and the dombra as a part of his musical education. But he has said that he has not taken lessons in any other instruments. He has himself denied he is a multi-instrumentalist (like he has denied that he is a good composer, "or a composer at all" 😅😵 He said that with master's degree on composition in his pocket... but before finishing The Story Of One Sky and El Amor En Ti, so hopefully he has changed his mind 😅❤) Forever humble. But yes, he loves to play drums in his concerts for a little bit, and dabble with an array of other instruments. Obviously when you are that musical and have vast knowledge of music you can quite easily do something with any instrument.
Don't be surprised that Dimash plays an instrument, he's a musical prodigy, besides his voice, he's a multi-instrumentalist. I think you saw him play the piano in Adagio, he really is a very special being.

The dears sing this song with him at his concert. His dream was to sing a Kazakhstan song for the world to understand and appreciate. His main goal is to get a Grammy for a Kazakhstan song. He’s in LA for something plus he will be taking director course at the the NY film Institute’s based in LA.

This song is very close to his heart. It was his greatest wish to sing this on an international podium.
The lyrics are by a Kazakh poet, who was incarcerated during Stalin regime. He was told his wife, Daididau, had been unfaithful to him, which was not true. The text is his letter to her after he had heard it.
In the Bastau concert he performed it accompanied by 100 dombra players. That performance is also a gem, because it reveals his emotional attachment to this song so well.

Believe it or not there is an even BETTER Dimash performance of Daididau. It begins with 100 young men dressed in all white playing the dombra. After a short while, the camera focuses on Dimash on the top of the stage joining the others playing the dombra. When he is done he hands the dombra to a red-haired young woman dressed in white. Then Dimash starts to sing. It is absolutely incredible!

Really, everyone told you this was Dimash's best live performance ever? As someone who's been listening to
Dimash's music for 6 years, I've never heard anyone say that. It's not even the fan favorite version of this particular song...that distinction would go to Daididau at the Bastau concert. Some fans might name this song as their favourite Kazakh song Dimash sings, though for me that would probably be a tie between Samaltau and Ómir óter. If this is the first time you've heard Dimash playing an instrument, you must be missing a lot of songs. I don't have time to check your playlist at the moment, but I'm sure someone will help you.

I just LOVE your reactions!! He looks like the Prince that he truly is! So, the song is pronounced "Die Dee Dow"...😃 Dimash does play 7 instruments...This one is the Dombra, a Khazakh instrument. He also plays the guitar, piano, drums, keyboard, marimba and bayan. He also has sung in 15 languages. The man is THE Musical GOD. NO ONE can beat him. It's just incredible to me that there are still billions of people who have not been graced with the beauty of this man. Luke, I saw you tearing up. You softy. Dimash always surprises us. My favorite song/performance depends on my mood. Do I want a pop song? Then its probably Be With Me or Give Me Your Love. Do I want to be serenaded, then its either Ave Maria or Love is Like a Dream, do I want to hear some Kazakh music, then its Samaltau or Omir Oter.
A bit of rock sound? I'm listening to Durdaraz or Kieli Meken. There's probably a lot of songs you haven't heard.
The instrument is called a Dombra and Dimash plays a lot of instruments, even though Dimash says he's not that good. I think he plays 9 instruments including the dombra, guitar, drums and piano.
This is a tradition at every one of Dimash’s concerts and we all know the words and sing with him. He ask’s his audience to sing and his face lights up it’s a song we all know from start to finish. Please please please watch the version from his Bastau concert. It starts with about 100 traditional Dombra players and then Dimash joins in. It is just spectacular and Dimash is very emotional as the song has a very special meaning for him. I don’t think you have reacted to River of Love. My favorite live performance? Soooo many favs and just so you know, after reviewing your Dimash Playlist, you have barely scratched the surface of his amazing live performances. For now The Story of One Sky live performance at his recent Almaty Kazakhstan concert (part 3 on his UA-cam channel) is my favorite. There are also fancams that are very good that show his performance from different angles. One angle shows Dimash with his backup singers right behind to the side with very concerned expressions watching him exhausted from the very taxing 10 minute song. It looks as if they all want to spring to his aid but don't know if they should. What a performance! I hope he does not sing that song live too often. Especially at an almost 4 hour concert! Very worrying.

Dimash performed Adai+Daididau with 100 musicians playing the Dombra at his homecoming concert titled Bastau (Beginning) after his return from his appearance on The Singer in 2017. He came home a hero with the Kazakhstan Government sponsoring his concert which was attended by 30,000 of his countrymen and fans from around the world. This performance is incredible and the raw emotion displayed by Dimash to be performing in his first large scale concert in his country is something to see:

Well, you have to catch up, his Kazakh songs are very close to Dimash's heart - and therefore very emotional and personal for him. And incredibly beautiful, with a character all their own. One great song with a tragic backstory is Samaltau, maybe my favorite, you can take the performance from the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020. Quairan Elim is a must do, I would recommend the music video, btw all his music videos are soo great, and we all know that he can do all that also live on stage. Another one ist Omir oter, the MV is incredible, but also his live performance from his Digital Show 2021. And of course Qaragym-ai, an incredibly moving sad ballad, and I recommend the performance in memory of his teacher who died of Covid19 2020.

Being a Kazakh folk song- Daididau is near & dear to DIMASH. It is a short poem. Commentors below probably provide the Historical context. I will only add that this song fits the recurrent theme of LONGING/DESIRE that DIMASH returns to again and again.

My favorite live performance is The Story of One Sky, Almaty Concert, seen during part 3, Almaty concert on Dimash's channel. 2 nd favorite is Daybreak at Bastau concert, Daididau New York is my sentimental fav, he was so proud and emotional to present his culture to the USA and the audience sang it so loudly back, its wonderful.

This song is very sad and it tells about a very dark time in the history of Kazakhstan, not so long ago. To understand the song, I always advise to take the link from Gloria Wu’s channel as it shows the background story and also has English subtitles.
The Kazakh poet and writer Magzhan Zumabayev was sentenced by the Russian regime to 10 years in prison for conspiracy in 1929 and imprisoned. While in cusody there, he was falsely told that his wife had left him. If I am correctly informed he is said to have written the lines of the song in prison (as a letter to his wife), probably to express his deep sadness and despair over is.
Although he was released in 1934, he was arrested again a few months later and was executed 1937.
The lyrics of this song are so sad I could cry every time I hear it. It never leaves me unmoved. Even after hearing it so many times.
I was at his concert in Düsseldorf and he sang this song with us Dears there too. This song is one he always performs in his concerts, plays the Dombra (a Kazakh folk instrument), and asks his Dears to sing along with him in his Kazakh language (he looks like a Kazakh Prince with his traditional clothing). Every Dear knows many of his lyrics in Kazakh and loves to sing his songs with him at his concerts.
I find it incredibly impressive and wonderful how a single man manages to bring together so many people from meanwhile 150 different countries and continents with so many different views in politics or religion, with so many different languages in a common group and to celebrate peacefully together and to sing in his own language. You always can see how proud he is of his country and how happy and moved he is when the audience sings with him in his concerts🥰.
There is another version of this song that I would like to recommend. And that's the one from his Bastau concert. This concert was his first solo concert after performing in The Singer competition in 2017. He has invited about 100 dombra players to this concert, who together with him perform a short instrumental, Adai, before Daididau. That's also very impressive.

Samaltau is about a young Kazakh who was forcibly recruited by Russia in 1916. He was forced to leave his home country and his elderly parents to go to war (WWI) and does not know what awaits him there as a soldier or how his elderly parents are to manage without him. The best version in my opinion is from the Tokyo Jazz Festival. It’s pure emotion.

Normally there are no vocal acrobatics in his native songs and I love them a lot. In every of this songs you can hear the great love and devotion to his country and his people.
Qairan Elim means Holy Land and is a prayer and an expression of fear about the fate of Dimash's country and the world in general. The MV is fantastic and he even directed it. The man, Renat Gaissin (a Kazakh composer) on the piano is also a friend of his and he has also written songs for Dimash such as River Of Love, an instrumental in which Dimash plays the dombra, and the song Òmir Òter (Ode to Life). This MV was presented of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence. Also a must see but switch on the subtitles. A masterpiece. Goosebumps!

And an absolutely mind blowing bonus, if you think the Kobyz's sounds is so incredibly beautiful and unique then there is a video on UA-cam showing rehearsals for his Almaty concert in September 2022 on Qairan Elim. Olzhas Qurmanbek, who always plays the kobyz in his songs, wasn‘t there or not yet there. Than Dimash sang the sounds of the kobyz. It took me a a while to realize that this isn’t an instrument at all, it's Dimash‘s voice. At first I couldn’t believe it, but then I thought, Ok , it’s Dimash😄.

Dimash had dreamed of performing Daididau for many years and of introducing the music of Kazakhstan to the world. His teachers and mentors were at this performance. They were surprised he chose it as one of his performances at the Chinese "I Am Singer" singing contest in 2017. They were worried it wouldn't be accepted as a foreign song but you can see how delighted they were with the audience response. Since then he has sung it many, many times and audiences around the world sing it with him. All his "dears" know it. His costume was designed as expressive of Kazakhstan's culture and was rushed to China for this performance. He looks like a prince in it. So glad you appreciated Dimash's arrangement and performance. There is a clip of him singing Daididau at the Grammy's a few years ago as one of the entertainers and receiving a standing ovation from the musical celebrities in the audience.Sorry I don't have the link. One of other active instruments is called the qubiz, I believe, that resembles a two-stringed cello. It's sounds are reminiscent of the steppe climate and animals of Kazakhstan- storms, winds, eagles, wolves etc. You can hear it very well in "Samaltau" and "Stranger".
Sorry. Meant to type "native instruments" not "active instruments". The qubiz is an ancient wooden instrument with a haunting, unique sound that I am told is "Mongul" in origin.
The most incredible performance live was on Stranger concert in Almaty and was" Story of One Sky"🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

It's hard to pick a favorite Dimash performance, but a couple of great ones are his 2021 Digital performance of SOS, a song he did for a movie soundtrack called Beyond Endless Dimensions as well as his official music video for his original Screaming. Although the last one is not live, it is awesome!
Autumn strong and Adagio are also a great, soft,sad love songs (singer 2017) Enjoy your journey. Dimash also performs this at his first solo concert. It’s the Bastua concert 2017. He is visibly moved. This concert is in his native country with all its culture. It’s beautiful.
I hope you will consider doing this same song from Bastau! If you think this one was good and it was of course, but Bastau will make you cry there is such passion. Plus there is an army of Dombra players. Plus, if you watch closely the earpieces stop working but he pulls them out and continues to sing in pure perfection. He is very emotional at the end.

Daididau is about the composition of Magzhan Zhumabayev, an exponent of Kazakh literature. When in 1928 he was sent to prison, and later sent to camps in North Karelia, Russia, Zuleikha his wife followed him, no matter where he was taken, she always found him and came to see him everywhere. She went to great lengths to get him released from prison in 1936, even asking the famous writer Maxim Gorky for help. During his prison term, Zhumabayev received the lying news that his wife had abandoned him, so Daididau was written as a lament for the lost love and suffering of the nation. But contrary to what he thought, outside his wife worked hard for his freedom and in 1934 his sentence was reduced and he returned to his home. Unfortunately, Magjan Jumabay was detained again in 1938 and executed on the 19th March of the same year.
Dimash is a very proud Kazakh and this song is so special to him because is a traditional song and he dreamt about singing it before a large audience to show his culture and his country to the world. .The instrumentation is beautiful, the dombra is the instrument he plays in the intro., every Kazakh has one in his home and Dimash’s grandfather is a master of dombra. You really have not seen much of Dimash, there are over 100 to go. You MUST go to The Singer competition, in China, and watch ALL of it, starting with his arrival and also see the stories behind some of the songs, and his preparation of some of them, plus after he sings, watch the reactions of the other contestants. THEN go to Bastau, the concert in Qazakstan, also in 2017. He was still only 23. That's where the very best performance of Daididau is. If u watched The Singer u will know the story, it is a very imortant song to him and he is overwhelmed at the audience response. THEN see some of his other concerts to see/hear how he has progressed.
I believe u will understand him better after that or go to A Guide to Dimash, in 12 parts, done by LiLaSi, very good information there, showing all sides of his personality,
I believe you will then be able to say you have seen a lot from Dimash, not just the great attention-getters most pple recommend.
There is a lot more to this beautiful, talented and complex gifted person, who is very patriotic, humble, kind and funny and extremely pacifistic. Sorry its so long but i think u will appreciate him even more.
