I’m a web developer and I use Safari for my personal browsing for a few reasons:
    1. Syncing (especially tab groups) with my phone and iPad.
    2. Better battery life.
    3. I don’t want Chromium’s engine to be the only viable web renderer (which is closer to happening because Edge switched to it under the hood).
    4. Most of my web dev happens in Chrome because of the better dev tools, so like having my personal browsing isolated from my dev browsing.

1:47:20 Gen X’er here … the stripes are NOT from the old iPhone wallpaper. That wallpaper was a retro homage to the Apple II era of Apple with the curvy 1970s font. The big stripes were in use all the time around 1980-1983, and the welcome-training software to the Apple IIe used them (despite the fact the HGR graphics had only 4 colors plus B&W). I lived through that era as a young kid and was forever disappointed that the full rainbow stripes never returned, with never enough courage to use them. They were used on a sponsored Apple car (racing car) around then, but that wallpaper was great and so were the parachute jumpsuits.

48:00 Minor point - I agree about the redundancy of Control Center's new pagination; however, it won't be that hard to access the lower pages because they mentioned in the keynote that if you hold and drag further down when swiping to open CC, it will quickly bring you through the pages without needing to scroll through each page individually so I think it'll actually save more time than having everything on one page within sub-menus.

Hey guys, lovely episode as usual. I was wondering if you'd consider having some cybersec person on the podcast? Given all the new AI (Apple and regular AI) being integrated into things and data being scraped to train the models, i think it would be cool to have a "behind the scenes" security principles interview.
There's a ton if cool stuff happening in cybersec as we prepare for the jext decade of cyber-innovation and I'd love to see you guys converse about it
Also, this is for purely selfish reasons, but I feel like you've got a great platform to speak to the masses about basic security practices that are seemingly being bypassed by each new AI feature added. I think people should know how and why their data is collected and how even seemingly small things can lead to massive escalation in terms of data breaches and hacks.
Again, just a suggestion in a comment. But either way, love this podcast! Just hoping you step behind the curtain more often like you did in the 7 Keys of the internet episode

Common guys, there’s TONS of stands magnetic or otherwise that turn an iPad into a Home App device to control whatever. Mine runs Home App, Building Access, Security Video, eLocks, iCloud synced Shopping Lists, Spotify casting to multiple sets of HomePods. For the latest M4 there’s a flat sheet magnetic one that sticks to the back that I’m getting through YT adds. If you want a picture let me know.

47:30 Does David not know what spotlight search is? Swipe down from Home Screen. Type “Wi” and hit the WiFi settings buttons and it takes you to the WiFi setting immediately. Takes 3 seconds

    • @nerovanguard846
      @nerovanguard846 7 місяців тому

That's stupidity inefficient. So you're telling me everything I wanna go to my wifi settings I have to do type it manually.
On Android, one swipe from anywhere of your homescreen to bring down the notification shade, tap and hold the WiFi tile for a second and that's it
iOS is now so complicated compared to Android and people are so in denial about it

Math calculators like this have existed for a while too. We used PTC MathCad back in university, which is of course way more powerful but I don't think is on iPad. I think TI Smart View or MathStudio are though. I personally haven't used those but they also seem vastly more powerful. But still pretty cool that they put this into the built in calculator app. It's just nothing new :)

Airpods have been very good at cancelling noise for the airpod user, but not for the person on the other end. I have been struggling with this because my company has us working in one of those "open" workspaces, with 27" standing desks, lined up right next to each other, so, webex calls are very difficult, when it comes to background noise. You end up having to do "push to talk" to make it bearable for everyone else on the call. I assumed the AirPods already had this feature but sadly found out that they did not. Can't wait to get this upgrade!!!

I agree. It’s very apparent when discussing the custom home screen colors and how they dislike other people’s taste of Home Screen preferences. I think Andrew’s perspective best reflects that of the average consumer and they constantly clown him for his takes/opinions. It’s a bit close minded at times and I can’t help but to roll my eyes every time they shut down an opinion that doesn’t align with their super “techy” world view.
