This a great song, she has a good voice and I give her a big thumbs up for resurrecting this song but she can't capture the pain and emotion of Neil. I have heard him perform it several times and I got chills every time. This is not a shot to her. I hope she will continue to perform it and bring it to a larger audience.

The lyrics of "A Man Needs a Maid" have generated controversy due to interpretations that they are chauvinistic. This is largely the result of Young using the term "maid" with two meanings in the song, one of which is a housekeeper to cook and clean for him, and then leave.
However, the rest of the lyrics make it clear that these lyrics were reflecting Young's own feelings of insecurity, and trying to balance his need for an equal relationship with a woman against his fear of getting hurt by that relationship and just "living alone and hiring help."
This is particularly apparent from the opening lines "My life is changin' in so many ways/I don't know who to trust anymore" before he starts singing about thinking of getting a maid.

Why is there no credit given to the composer? I'm surprised that doesn't seem to violate any copyright stuff.
Because all of the original artists are already credited as the writers in the album. Literally every single song in the album are covers. These are her versions of the songs with all the proper credits, of course they don't violate their copyrights. Even more so when this is a live performance upload. If they're gonna get their credits they would do it on the official MV/audio. Do you even know how copyright works? Or are you just pissed because you are Neil's fan and his name isn't being written all over the place?

I thought it was Karen Carpenter's voice, in this particular song.
Karen's voice is so natural and rich compared to Rumer. However, I feel that Rumer has that same genius of touching the listener deeply. Listen to Karen right after hearing Rumer, and you'll hear the amazing brilliance in her voice. Not to take away from Rumer. I don't like comparing them - both are great.

Sorry , i find she no emotions, just plain…comparing Neil Young you could feel his pain
Very few cover versions are either as good as or better than the original and this is no exception. Rumer's voice has been compared to Karen Carpenter several times, but it's not really suited to this song and her delivery is just not as good as Neil Young's. Only cover that I've come across that's better than the original is Ellie Goulding's version of Elton John's Your Song.
Her version is so different from Neil's that it's hard to compare them. Neil Young has such a hook in his voice and style. However, I feel that Rumer's style grabs me too - but in a different way. She touches my soul. At first I thought you were just wrong and that Rumer's version is better, but I can see your point now. Also, I don't think that she sounds that much like Karen Carpenter - only at times. I'm "in love" with Karen and Rumer. I still cry sometimes when I think that Karen died so young.
Have you heard Rumer's album version of this song? It is better than this performance. Not that this is a bad performance but her album version truly sees her make the song her own. I now prefer her version to Neil Young. Try and listen to the album version, it is not as slowed down as this performance. Thanks
You should never say a cover is "better" than an original. That is highly disrespectful to the guy who put in the original spark of genius & creativity to come up with the song in the first place. You can say "I prefer this over..." but not that it is better.
