I can't believe non of the top comments mentions that they have to watch the original video. the story showed fits the lyrics perfectly
The video ruins the song. Giving it a totally different story. It's so much better to just listen to the song. I found myself on this video just trying to find someone reacting to a NON video version. It's also nice that they know the original song, very nice.
@@nastube4052 You are completely right. The video doesn't fit the song. On top of that the video is just ugly, depressing, who wants to look at trash and such a sad situation?
The Garage album is so amazing. I wish they'd have done more covers during this era.
Exactly my thoughts!!!!
Agree!
27 wasn't enough? 😆
They did another on this album from Lynyrd Skynyrd... "Tuesday's Gone" … check it out... AWESOME
Long overdue for another one! More British metal and punk, along with classic hard rock covers would be great.
The way Lex can articulate her thoughts on this are spot on. 🧠🤘
The music video deserves a reaction all to itself
I love the way Metallica stayed true to the original, which is a definite tribute to how much they liked Bob Seger's version of the song. I'm not generally a fan of most covers, but this one is the exception.
Hmmm, the original is told in a quiet, almost reverent exhausted way, no grit, no power at all, just revelation that yes they want the quiet to re-energize, just want to be left alone, but never get to be ie the restaurant scene, but then the silence becomes unbearable as the long minutes become unsatisfying hours, until the little tease of vocal power at the end. This is nothing like that at all, so not close to staying true to the original style. I enjoy some Metallica, but this, not at all. But hey I am old as dust, and got to see them do this live over a dozen times and not once was the emotion emptiness of the situation not obvious.
@@toddstevens13 I, too, am "old as dust ". 😆 I have seen both Bob Seger and Metallica in concert. My comment about "true to the original " wasn't necessarily that it was a carbon copy, just that they didn't do like some bands do and over play it. But different opinions, different perspectives make the world go around.
Great cover; I think I actually prefer it to the original.
Edit "Metallica is a class act." True Facts.
You guys should check out the official video for this one. It’s very, very good & it takes a completely different perspective to the lyrics of this song. It will open your mind to a whole different world!
Spot on. Metallica ABSOLUTELY paid homage accordingly. A class act, indeed.
@Motorheadmike why?
@Adam Gardner I like Metallica's cover Seagers was great, but had like a country sound to it
Brad... vato... take your woman to a show... I promise you'll both love it... Metal people are the most welcoming and accepting crowds ever.
I really, really like this cover. Second only (on this album) to Astronomy.
💯💯💯💯 astronomy is perfect
Their cover of Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy" was pretty fucking epic as well
@@LordBackuro don’t forget, National Acrobat was medlied into Sabbra Cadabra.
I remember the controversial uncensored video for this song. I think that made a lot more noise than the song itself.
The video makes the remake that more powerful
Y'all need to watch the music video of this now
Imagine walking into a truck stop just to eat and worrying if the locals are gonna beat the shit out of you because you look different, then 20 miles down the road you play to 25,000 locals singing every word to your songs.
Astronomy and Merciful Fate are probably 2 of the other best covers on this album. They also did a cover more recently of 3 of Dio's songs called Ronnie Rising which is amazing! Like Merciful Fate, it is a medley that combines multiple songs into one cover.
The Astronomy cover is actually one of my favs. Kirk's outro on that song is so epic, and the overall feel is so well done.
Merciful fate, if they react to it with lyrics I would die happy!
Metallica family! I PROMISE YOU LEX, IT WILL BE YOUR FAV! I put in on and go crazy around the house, lol
I always loved Bob's version of this song, but Metallica did an awesome job of covering it. This is one that you really need to check out the video to, imo, to get a different feeling of the lyrics. Great reaction!! 🙂
Hetfield always was a country music boy at heart
Lex was 1000% right on spot with this. She totally nailed the point of it all.
I hate most covers, but, thats what I like about this version, They didnt do a whole to it but grundged it up a bit from the original. He has a perfect growl tone too.
Turn the page and One are two music videos that actually made me cry.
You guys should check out basically ANYTHING off of Metallica S&M. They did 2 concerts with the San Francisco Philharmonic, so they have a full orchestra behind them. Lex will certainly love it! Brad may as well because theres still heavy stuff but it all has that touch of symphony
Ya nothing else matters off that is incredible
Music definitely hits Lex in a way that it doesn't in some people. It's a pure delight watching her lose herself in a song.
I'm a huge Metallica fan, but Bob Seger nailed this song. No one else needs to sing it.
Yooooo lex loves everything
Listen to the acoustic version of Blackened. They did it during the beginning of the pandemic. Enjoy!
I love how Lex really got into this version of turn the page. I love this. Great riff.
Hetfield has always said he sings like a sailor. He has had to learn to sing properly lately because he was shredding his vocal pipes in the early years and that meant taking some of the edge off by singing cleaner. But Hefield in the early albums was at his throat ripping best.
Nothing beats the original Bob Seger Michigan made.
except this
@@DC-yl4vc Dude this isn't even in the same zip code of being better.
This cover came out around the Reload album, if I remember correctly, and Metallica hadn’t been a thrash band for AGES by then. With that said, I do remember liking this cover better than the original, (when I learned it was a cover I eventually looked up the the original.) I could be a bit biased, I actually like/ed everything from
…And Justice For All through ReLoad.
I feel like an introductory band like Metallica is meant to broaden your horizons and expose you to more artists and styles, so after this song I really hadn’t revisited Metallica all that much, especially when it came to the Napster situation putting a vile taste in my mouth whenever I even think of that band.
I love how James Hetfield sings “through,” and holds the “oooooo,” and you’re wondering “is he going to do it?” and then he does it, “oooAH!” smh.
Around that time I also got myself a turntable and some records from one of the local thrift stores, and I started listening to some older music that way: Like Bob Seeger (greatest hits,) Tom Petty (Damn The Torpedoes,) Fleetwood Mac (rumors,) and even Rush (moving pictures.) I probably listened to Pink Floyd’s The Wall, the A Clock Work Orange score, King Crimson’s Court Of The Crimson King, James Taylor’s Greatest Hits, and The Who’s Who’s Next. A few of those I am looking to buy new but I still have most of them.
Do Metallica - St Anger, I'm curious your opinion.
“mama said” another awesome one
This is one where the video should be watched
They did do a good job making it sound like Metallica but keeping it the same melody and tempo.
It's fun to watch Brad absorb the music and Lex let it flow thru her veins, just like a rocker chic! You need to hear them play this live.!
Hell of a version. Much better than the original. This one ROCKS!!
The Mercyful Fate medley is just perfection!!
Please never stop Metallica reactions keep em coming!
One of my favorite songs ever!
I freaking love this cover
the perfect song for the ultimate road dogs Metallica
I love it when Lex is "feeling" the music. Also one of my favorite covers with Godsmacks Rocky Mountain Way and Disturbs Sounds of Silence.
The best song ever !!!.
Love the girls emotions, seems so pure. You got my sub. First time watching too.
This is great cover of the original classic.
mostra emocion brad!!!!!! hace1 millon de videos te veo y no pones emocion.... lex es la mejor!!!!
Y'all should check out the song Bleeding me and the outlaw torn by Metallica
Metallica they define the genre of Metal. They are not stuck at a particular sound, they love experimenting and taking the risk.
thE OUTLAW TORN!!!!
That guitar tho!!!!Love it!!
The fact is you didn't get many heavy metal guys singing like this or has a good voice like hetfield...that's not 80s glam (siren over the top singing).or dio lol it's unique and totally his/Metallica s sound.my favorite band
The live version from Woodstock 99 is probably the best live version ive heard.
It's a fun cover. Your guy's reaction is 😎
My all time fav Metallica song. The music video goes so well with it too.
for me one of if not the best cover from Metallica. Well, "Am I evil" is in the conversation as well ;)
This song hit me at 14 and I’m 35 this year. I’ll never forget how I felt listening to this on a Walkman and singing along in my bedroom haha 😂
The band and singer did a fine job with the song. They obviously have talent. I appreciate that this is definitely a tribute to Bob Seger. However I will always prefer Bob's version.
As always, you did a great job of reacting!
I love the thought of the Metallica guys sitting around listening to Bob Seger lol
Not me.
"They obviously have talent" OK
@@Duke_2373 you saying they don’t? OK
@@dedfishermen985 The joke is that Metallica is one of the biggest bands of all time, the comment made it sound like they were some unknown band doing a cover.
They really caught the mood of the song.
Always loved this cover nice job
I do like both versions of this song, though I prefer the Metallica version more because it accurately reflects my dark emotions of anger and depression from being on the road so much and so long.
Garage Inc. is one of my favorite Metallica albums. I like all the covers they did on it. It's one of those albums I can listen to from start to finish and enjoy thoroughly.
Fun fact for Lex James plays the solo!
I’d watch the video uncensored
They definitely made this their own for sure. Personally I like both versions it just depends on the vibe which version I'm listening to.
✌❤🇨🇦
Voted as one of the most controversial videos…great song and cover by Metallica!
You must check out “Bleeding Me” “Outlaw Torn” and “Fixxer”
Love this cover has a much heavier sound. Glad you guys are listening to it
With Metallica being in their mid 50s the day will tragically come when you can no longer see them live That will be on you ,keep that in mind. You will spend the rest of your life saying I wish I would have seen them. Make it a priority. You'll be glad that you did.
With the video it is so much more powerfull
Metalicafied....I like it. They stayed true to the original, like with whiskey in the jar, but they definitely metalicafied it.
That about sums up all their covers, except Let It Loose and Sucking My Love
If you like the Moscow ‘91 stuff, you should check out the Seattle ‘89 gig. Maybe seek and destroy or fade to black from that gig. Killer.
Thanks for doing this reaction. Man they covered that cover 🎸. You got to do Astronomy next. Metallica has always been consistent at the greatest of their time. You can pick an album and any song will be magnificent 🤘
Hey guys what's up! Greetings from South Florida! I think this is my favorite Metallica cover. I love the original version. But Metallica did a really good tribute. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
Lex speaking a lot of facts this reaction, sheesh. lol
🤘😎
Great to know music is always a cutting edge to all the other bull
From disc 1 Astronomy for me
This was the very first song I ever heard by Metallica, kinda crazy it was a cover but it turned me on to a new band and genre.
Not much to say Metallica is The Best Band to this date 12/30/2022👍🏻
And I was there it was pretty sick too live with Metallica and San Francisco symphony part 2 for the 20-year anniversary with the symphony
I think two best M covers are Mercyful Fate and Ronnie Rising Medley. The way they combine songs into one continuous kick ass songs is brilliant. I think Lex would love them, and Brad would be looking for the time-out button.
Hetfield vocal fits metal so well.
Yet another where the music video needs to be seen
Until It Sleeps
Some nice covers on this album
I understand that it's give and take with these two, but it would be nice to see them react to an Alanis/Metallica or Delores/Metallica mash-up, so we could get them both boppin' with big grins at the same time. Now that would be something to see. ✌️
If you want to hear Metallica do a thrash cover, you should check out their cover of Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy". It's dope af!
Metallica is far more than a metal band.... plain and simple.
Metallica does great with covers. Check out anything from "The $5.98 EP". I like "Crash Course in Brain Surgery."
YES!!!! One of the best covers!!
Garage Inc. is a badass collection. Try Mercyful Fate Medley or maybe Crash Course In Brain Surgery.
This became Metallica's song with this cover imo.
You need to listen to Mama Said if you wanna hear his texture without a full Metallica sound. Yes it's country-ish but you still hear the melody.
I dig this cover. Metallica are one of my favs ever. I prefer the loneliness in the Bob Seger live version that everyone knows.
NICE!!!!
For all those who never knew metalica is God of rock metal eveything they are like the twopac of metal they where bigger then pac actually it's crazy how huge they where in the 80s and being metal at that
Metallica's version of Tuesday's Gone should definitely be given a try. It's a shame how it doesn't get more recognition.
Mercyful Fate and Ronnie Rising will blow your brains
Closest one of their covers has ever come to sounding like they could've written it themselves, IMO, this could've easily been an original song on Load/Reload
Other great covers to react to form these sessions are "Astronomy" (Blue Oyster Cult), "Whiskey in the Jar" (Thin Lizzy) and their medley of Mercyful Fate
Metallica released this album of covers when I was in high school. It was a weird period for them that wasn't their most popular, but I mostly dug it. I actually heard this version before I heard Seger's original. It's not that much different IMO.
I heard this version first as well. I do prefer this version as well
they did great cover musically about a musicians life on the road. but too see where they flipped the song you must watch the original video they made for it !!!!
