See a lot of musicians who play bagpipes also play the metal flute as well. Is this just a coincidence or are they alike in terms of finger placement and movement?
Hi Jason, the metal flute is called a Low Whistle, many Scottish players like it for its versatility, as it can play beyond the range of notes of the bagpipes, and a lot of the techniques transfer between both. Likewise with Irish Flute and Uilleann Pipers they usually play Low Whistle too.
