See I felt they felt almost identical tbh after a while you really start noticing the bowie actually feels a bit better. I ended up selling my tanto and keeping my bowie. I believe you may of done the same. This is the thing bandwagons are massive in collector things and me I could care less what everyone else's preference is. The whole tanto is best thing is just wrong. It's truely preference and imo neither are bad both are great and both flip great. Just comes down to preference. Same goes for the 2.5 I prefer the bowie lol.
Great comparison man, haven’t seen any vids comparing the Bowie and Tanto Kraken. For a second I thought I was trippin when I saw the gunmetal handles on the Tanto blade until you had said you swapped them.Lol
Awesome don’t really see to many comparison videos between the two. I hope to get a Bowie at some point but getting both would be the dream. Also what do you think is the kraken overhyped?
I wanted the tanto but they didn't have it in stock on blade HQ only had Bowie's so I took it I gotta say it's very smooth and very fast I like it it's just so much lighter it's taking me some time to get used to the weight loss
So after 5 months would you still agree you prefer your tanto? I have both at the moment and I've been having a really hard time deciding on which to keep. I don't mind the look of either or I more care about how they flip
I would say preference-wise I prefer my bowie more than the tanto, it just suits me better. If I had to sell one I would sell my tanto but there are times where the tanto is pretty icey and just flows. Depends on what your preferences are though
@@JohnPhanz Yea I really want to get a fully black kraken I just cant tell which blade to get because I want to get a bowie because of the design and sound but I heard it flips a little worse and is heavier also the tolerances are a bit worse, and the tanto has better tolerances and supposedly flip better so idk. Any input would be great
honestly i agree after having both i do feel like theres something about the tanto it gives like a flipping buff or sumtin also the tantos seem to have better tolerences than bowies
How were your tolerances out of the box, and are they still perfect? My bowie 2.5 came perfect, but my tanto 2.5 came with tons of play and slight tap...I acctualy have dogbite 3.1 bushings in my tanto now which made it better, but not perfect.
Out of the box for both knives tolerances are perfect on my Bowie and my Tonto Cracken‘s however I did do a thing where I swap the handles now they are back to their original state being the Bowie with gunmetal handles and the Tanto with silver Matt handles, and my Tanto has a lot of tap but my Bowie still remains virtually mint with no tap or play. I got titanium pivot screws on my bowie and they are perfect. But my tanto ehhhhhhhh

Thanks for watching haha I’m glad you enjoyed it!
You should do a vid explaining why you prefer live blades over trainers, and the benefits and cons of each of them.
@@bali_user3184 I’ll do that as my next balisong talk thank you for the idea!
no way did this guy say he dips his balis underwater instead of lube.
Some Balis flip better without lube. Like the 4x’s and surprisingly my krakens
Awesome don’t really see to many comparison videos between the two. I hope to get a Bowie at some point but getting both would be the dream. Also what do you think is the kraken overhyped?
Definitely worth having both in the rotation!

I also had that same adjustment period for the bowie but it ended up being my favorite flipper
@@JohnPhanz I also oiled it and I feel it's going too fast

@@JohnPhanz That was the world's fastest reply. Thanks for the input!!

Is it possible to interchange the blades between the two? i fell like the grey one with the bowie blade would look sick

Ahh he said he prefers the bowie after a few months of using them lol
@@reviewforthetube6485 Its preference, also this comment is 11 months old
@@uhhcringe yeah exactly it's preference lol
I mean I like both but as you said it just feels like angeled blades like the bowie dont flip as well

@@JohnPhanz Thanks for the reply. Maybe try what I did. Buy some Dogbite 3.1 bushings off of USA Knife Maker, it fixed the tap on my tanto.
Gunmetal is the best colorway in my opinion
It’s definitely my favorite as well
So what do you think Is better in your opinion?
In my opinion I prefer the bowie for how it flips better than the tanto; the bowie flows better for my style and the tanto l prefer for fanning
i prefer bowie just cause it looks sicker
How does one rep screw make it feel more like a replicant?
Both of the pivots are replicant hardware I had lying around, the bouncy ness feeling at least
just bought a bowie
Very nice hope you like it as much as I do for mine!
@@JohnPhanz me too, it should be here on the 22nd.
wait i thought of something illegal put a live blade on a squidtrainer v3.5 it would be very un balanced but it would look cool
Back in the day people put live blades on their squidtrainer v2, way before the kraken existed.
