Hey thats fantastic i love it. Im also a newbie at guitar at 52 years old. I been learning 6 weeks now. Im not sure what best for me next. Im at level 6 beginners i think. Started some finger picking patterns now.
Good work. If you can grasp those chords and accuracy in one month that's excellent progress. Most beginners take at least two months just to get the soarness out the fingers plus the strength...I think you should keep up with what your doing. I'm sure at the end of a year you will be doing great.
Hi Luke ! Do you recollect as to how many stages of the beginner course you were through at this point of time? And could you also explain how you picked up on the fingerpicking technique? - Great work and all the best ! ♥️🙌🏻
I was at Stage 4 of what is now his Classic Beginner Course. With the finger picking I had set myself a ridiculously ambitious goal of trying to play Anji by Davy Graham which was way, way above my ability. I was working on it a lot but didn't get very far with it. However what I did learn got me really interested in finger picking so I looked for songs from Justin that had finger picking. You can sort his lessons by style which I did to find them. Hope that helps!
Not too sure. I was just following Justin's course and books and was practising about an hour a day. At this stage I couldn't play them all all the way through but had a really good grip of them.
Hi, you're doing really well, I have noticed the way you play your A major chord, you seem a little bunched up in the fret and it looks a tad awkward to get into. Have you tried placing your forefinger on the 4th string, the middle finger on the 3rd and the ring finger on the 2nd? It's an easier configeration for your hand to fall into. Keep up the good work.
Good idea, no I haven't tried it like that yet. From what I have experienced so far, some finger configurations make it easier when you transition to another chord. So I need to learn the layout you suggest. Thanks for that.
After a frustrating week last week it was good to take stock of some songs that I have learnt to date. What are some of the first songs that you have learned?
My Dad taught me as a kid, so I learnt things like John Denver Country Roads, Annies Song. The Eagles Lying Eyes and a whole host of folky type stuff such as, The Leaving of Liverpool, etc. I kind of lost interest as it wasn't Maiden, Metallica, Dire Straits, etc. I started playing properly again about 3 years ago and love it, I play everyday even if for only 15 minutes, it still keeps the fingers going.
I was on Stage 3 transitioning to 4 I think on what is the classic beginner course now. I learned songs as they came up and Justin suggests them to you. Also I bought his song books so was using them. Not sure how many I was learning at each stage, probably 3 or 4 but I didn't really know them all the way through until the late stages.
I completed the Justin Guitar Course, check out my 5 Month Milestone video here ua-cam.com/video/yiQOpeJuWVc/v-deo.html
If in one month you can play like that you are very musically gifted. Very rare to be in this level in one month practicing 1h a day.

Thanks for the support.
Don’t forget, he may have been playing for a year. Just said this is how he is doing since taking Justin’s course.

How did you learn so many songs in just one month? I must be a slow learner. I've been playing for 3 months and I only know 4-5 songs.
Not too sure. I was just following Justin's course and books and was practising about an hour a day. At this stage I couldn't play them all all the way through but had a really good grip of them.

Did you use Justin’s App or songbook? If so, which was more helpful? Thanks
Hi I'm using Justin's guitar and struggling with strumiing. How did you get so good with that
What stage were you on in your first month?
And how many songs did you learn each stage? All of the songs on the songbook? Or optional? Help a beginner out :)))
