@@LuvMyLilBabe this really isn’t true anymore thanks to climate change, at least not in the way it used to be. We get cold weather that hovers around -30 and below for about two weeks in end of Jan/ early feb. We also don’t see permanent snow fall until mid/late December most years now.

Short uniform grass, almost no shrubs, very few trees along roads, no green separation between roads and sidewalks

Considering that Winnipeg was created out of marshland (swampland). I would say we're doing ok.

What about the months you have summer and the months you have winter?

    • @suziesaintb

Winnipeg has longer winters than summer. Here's the breakdown...although with climate change, winter weather has started a bit later in the last 2 years...ok, back to the breakdown.
Spring weather ( meaning the temperature reaches above 5 Celsius) usually starts at the end of March and gradually warms up to above 15C by the end of May.
The warmest months start in June, where the temperature varies between 18C to approximately 32C, with the occasional 34 or 35C. Remember, Winnipeg is in the eastern part of the prairies of Canada and close to 2 huge fresh water lakes, so it can get very humid as well as hot. Summer usually ends by end of August / early September. Fall season usually begins in September and ends in October, however, this year, Fall season has lasted into the month of November.
Fall temperatures are usually below 15C.
Winter temps are usually from zero Celsius to -35 Celsius, and that's usually from November until March/ April.
Please note, that Winnipeg weather does not represent weather in all of Canada. We are a huge country and that means some places in Canada have (slightly) shorter and (slightly) warmer winters. If you do come to Canada during the winter months, bring warm clothing that you can wear in layers and bring a warm winter coat along with a winter hat or toque and gloves. What makes winter so cold in Winnipeg isn't the snow... it's the wind.
Hope you found this information useful.
