What a gem...ty. its actually bordering priceless...really. when you went to see Jerry band or Dead...first few Jerry light ups would bring tears to my eyes...ty again
Absolutely killer compilation! Liked and subscribed. The floating tone of that Travis Bean and the magical notes that Keith weaves from his grand piano are so incredible. Magic really. That’s what JGB was. Fucking magic.
Thanks so much for the treat! I say it had to be a better world when you could cruise to the Keystone and catch Garcia, Kahn and Merle along with many other greats on any 'ordinary week'.
A very well put together playlist of the "heart" of, imho, the three best years of the JGB (76-78. Pre 76 is a rather different beast). Lovely ensemble playing, and Jerry's at the top of his game with these nice picks for covers (If a bit slow, but, hey...). Thanks for putting this together.
summer 1977 I turned 3 star wars, smokey & the bandit played then the light's went out in NYC. & just like the summer of 77 the economy was just like it is today. brutal & harsh.
@@georgekoserowski1380 Oh yeah. That's a good way of putting it. Some of my favorite Dead performances have questionable tempo issues though XD. For example, the start of that Fire on the Mountain from Egypt '78, when Jerry literally has to yell at the band to slow down, and then he unleashes the best FOTM intro solo headiness I have ever heard.
Hey Buck, I had an uncle who went by Buck tho his name was Floy, dont know why. I read your response on a completely different comment I made, on a completely different vid. I felt compelled to take this reply to a bit more personal, more private situation. I dont know why. The following is that reply. True. The average person has it better right now than had they been born at any point in the last 10,000 years at least. This cycle was pretty good while it lasted. Imperfect, but I suspect the next empire at inception is going to be much less accommodating for the average Seo. Difficult psychological exercise to have been born near the peak, having watched those on the other side being pushed along, gloriously riding that wave, but on the backside of that tsunami swimming your ass off trying to grab hold of whatever flotsum remains, hoping to land on solid ground. A democracy (or democratic republic) is doomed the instant the average citizen realizes they can vote for themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. I just wish I knew where for sure that next empire would be. 1066,1679 then 342 years, looks like it may be near time to scoot again. Perhaps presumptuous on my part based upon the screen name you go by, but, If it gives you any satisfaction, neighbor, it appears the prior 600 years were more advantageous for my nameline. Psst, dont tell anyone but genetically I'm not from that fatherline anyway. Dammit mama! Had to bonk the badboy eh? Truth be known, Laser did not exist 70 years ago. And now there's one parked in the home garage, with no use. Never was a big fan of the Greatful Dead but I have to say it did feel quite organic and pleasurable to listen while amending this text. Ok should I just delete this or send it? Send.
Wow I love this country funk version of Midnight Moonlight! By the time I heard the JGB do it, they had pumped up tempo unbearably. Not sure I like Tutt's choice of fills over the chorus, but otherwise this has a great midtempo feel.
yeah, there was a Keystone in Paly, on Middlefield Rd....it was, literally, an old WW2 quonset hut....they use to let you go in and out, so the parking lot was a blast, often times more fun than the shows...I saw so many bands there, it was a great old place
I'm 65 years old. I've been following the dead for a long long time! Sugaree is my absolute favorite song by the Dead. I've heard many different versions and this is the best one
I'm speechless.. where has this been my entire life.. I can't grasp how fantastic this is.. not only did I spend my life under a rock, I became it. Thank You Jerry..
don't remember many grateful dead concerts but eventual peut-être in right time I will. gonna give it a close listen. interesting set list. merci (I hear lots of songs from leonard cohen within all these songs)
Thank you Sir. Aaargh Dose!! ( Again? Sigh...) And big up's to Mr. Completely!! Fantastic!! That is some tasty delicacy. Seriously. II'm all tore up over this. With few exceptions I think Jerry's work with the Dead started losing speed or something around '73 or '74. And then began to bounce back around '79 or '80 Of course the sacrement was less expensive and better back then. But Jerry's work with JGB was exceptional! Better than his work with the GD. Perfect example of this is Jerry's rendition of the Buddy Holly classic NFA. Compare this with NFA from ''Skull and Roses''. Maybe you can hear what I mean. Thanks an aircraft carriers much. Sharing ith the rest of us. Awesome!! Peace!
Such a cool 3 hours and 20 minutes of Jerry music. Put it on , clean your whole house while listening.
Smoking Jerry Shows Kahnpilation! Thank you for sharing this ❤⚡💙🤘💓☮🌹🙏🚂💨💨💨

Well flippin' put, my friend.
GOD DAMN RIGHT ON

Seven bucks and they played all night.
Keystone P. A. Five bucks. Great times...
Wow! This must be why river protection is so crucial... if Friends don't have that today, the river will teach.
Keith playing Sugaree during this recording is beautiful it completely blew me away
Just warmed up my '67 Fender, my '13 Jazz.. going deep baby!!
I'm exited to check this out. I'm nuts for JGB, LOM, JS+MS but have yet to truly connect with '77.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
Thank you kindly for this amazing compilation! 🙏🏽⚡️🥀⚡️
Thank you. This is beautiful :) My sunny day. Jerry is missed.

Slow Jerry was good Jerry, if you ask me. The molasses is flowin' on TLEO & Stir it up!
Superb idea for a JGB compilation & you hit it out of the park.
Double holy peyote...............
Much Appreciated ....................

That "Mystery Train" from Theatre 1839 might be one of the best jams in JGB history. Pure Travis Bean headiness. Keith really goes off too.
Jer sounds sooo mean on that Bean hah those sparkly aluminitones
Yes please!
Took them a while to find the groove but once there....wow

Damn if Kieth isn't drunk on Don't let go.
3 hours of JGB. Thanks so much for posting. Was there a Keystone in Palo Alto, too, or is that a typo?
arghdos Thanks. Oh, the shows I could have seen . . .
There was, yes. I double checked that. There were multiple Keystone locations sometimes including in this period.
Yes, there was a Keystone in Palo Alto.
