15:57-16:29 - Oh Rick, that was a really shitty thing to do ! . . . . Shame on you Magda, had nothing but good intentions . . . . . . when she was actually ill herself . . . Great acting & writing !
I feel this was the episode in which Rick's behaviour finally jumped the shark. In earlier episodes there was often mitigation: in "£5000" he had a point that a genuine mistake in filling out a sponsorship form shouldn't leave him on the hook for paying thousands of pounds to a charity he didn't particularly support: in "Hero" we felt for him when he mistook a local builder for an influential TV producer. But in this episode his behaviour is straight-up reckless, malignant and unforgivable. Overall, this is what this made this series less enjoyable for me than it might have been because when it lost its element of ambiguity it became much harder to get immersed in the situation.
Whilst I still enjoyed the series a lot after this point I do agree with you fully. Rick works better when he is being petty and it escalates. To each their own though and they had to try different things I suppose.
Thanks for summing-up exactly how I felt through this episode, I was actually questioning the writing... And I rarely think deep about anything I watch
ya know Selena..when i first started watching "lead balloon" i found them funny ...second time around your right..the central character in the words of a japanese person is an AR-SOL LOL
I like that his character changes over the series (or is revealed?). We're sympathetic and amused at first, and then we have to overcome the sunk-cost of thinking he was the hero .. as the pathological manipulation comes forward
Don't know if this was intended as such but, in series 2, Rick really starts to come across as a completely selfish asshole. He is likeable in series one, not so much at this point.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plains?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Thanks SO much for these. This series is so hard to get hold of online.
21:50 chickened out 🤣 the chicken is doing the rice thing🤣
Mel is so adorable 😊
This episode is a study in malignant narcissistic abuse.
Why does he go to that cafe,,,,,it’s horrendous! 😂😂😂
So funny, and so relaxing because there is no canned laughter which always comes at wrong spots and thrice the volume
Brilliant 👍🏻

Poor Rick !
Nah.. Rick fully deserved that and a kick to the groin 🤣
Rick is a horrible horrible man. He doesn't deserve Mel. This is the point where she should have made arrangements to leave him

He’s unbearable to watch for more than 2 episodes. Long breaks in between those 2.
Please upload the rest of the episodes, thank you.
Brilliant! This was a great show, more episodes please. Thanks.
Great to find this show again enjoying watching all the episodes from the start

23:16 wtf is wrong with him

OH! The pharmacist is Ed Reardon! That's funny!

I can’t stand the daughter and boyfriend parts.
They're awful and the parents enable their behaviour
Problem is it’s a bit repetitive
Rick, Sam and Ben and totally detestable. They sometimes make the series almost unwatchable.
They’re supposed to be. That’s what makes it funny.
