- Some of the hardest tasks can sometimes be to stay positive even though how much is thrown at you. I share some thoughts and reflections and even the reality what it sometimes means being on more remote places. East Timor dont have any sail loft and its now way to have my sails repaired here, so Im starting to prepare my sail to Bali. But first I need to have a solution to my computer problems as my iMac is dead and my Mac book is having serious issues as well. Not the best timing but I managed to find a solution being able to upload new episodes to youtube.
Timor Leste is such a different nation in many ways, and I am tempted to call it for Portonesia as its a fusion of Portuguese and Indonesian culture, food and heritage.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
I'm a sailor with a UA-cam channel and not a UA-camr. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it.
Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me.
Even though this is season 6 on UA-cam I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 6 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience as a captain in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.
Mate, you are a captain that I would be happy to be in charge of any boat I would find myself on. Good luck with your journey and thank you for none of the "sad faces" typical UA-camr content you see out there. You know your mission, capabilities, expectations of the gear you have, the weather and the ability to get through shit that happens without the need to expect people to "rescue" you. legend 👍

Thomas, I love watching your videos. You gave me the courage to buy the bigger boat (Jeanneau 54DS) and I am so glad I did. I will be heading out from Florida sometime in December 2024. A boat is the most expensive way to travel 4th class.
Traveling by motorbike can be pretty cheap, a bicycle even cheaper but...

Great film Thomas, safe trip and hope all is well. Thailand from Bali is very easy on budget airlines, could hit the lofts there and they would help get it to closest tax efficient port. or just stick in plane and bring back your 'used' sails as excess luggage...
Unfortunately together with development expansion at small countries follow also negative things. Mcdonalds and Burger Kings for example. Thank you for the video Thomas. You show also the other side of the coin of the sailing life dream
I think your positive outlook is what matters the most. I’ve seen to many people let the negative affect their paradigm. Keep it up, imho I really in joy watching, and living vicariously through your experiences until I also will be out there…. Getting really close/ 1-2 years max😊. Hi Thomas, I've been following both you and Windhippy Holly for around three years now. I have the feeling that you have had far more problems and slower progress with your large high tech boat compared to Holly with her old, small, minimal tech boat. Is this a fair assessment ?
Hi there and thank you for being following for such long time. It’s definitely more maintenance on a bigger yacht. However the progress in terms of sailing I’m far ahead of Holly now if you count nautical miles. Remember I was left behind on the Caribbean side when the canal closed for pandemic. I waited two years for the pacific to re open.
So it’s not so fair to compare. Also I terms of boat speed it’s not fair to compare either, as BE FREE average 2-3 times faster. In reality BE FREE have sailed more miles last Year alone than her last 3 years In total. So it’s really not easy to compare In any terms. Im gonna spend quite some time In Indonesia so Im sure she’s gonna catch up.
