IS THIS THE BEST KEPT INDONESIAN SECRET? - SwT 181 - Exploring the beauty of Tual

  • Im taking you with me to some of the most spectacular places in Tual and sharing my impressions and the positive surprises. I did not expect Tual to be such a secret piece of paradise. Obviously Im here outside the season, still its amazing that there is no one here. I mean having some of the most beautiful beaches I ever walked all alone. Even swimming inside a cave and also this attraction all by our self. Asia is famous for plastic in the ocean, however this is a global problem from my experience. I have seen just as much plastic some places in the Caribbean and even in the Atlantic,
To see what Indonesia now try to do with this is truly amazing.

    ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
I'm a sailor with a UA-cam channel and not a UA-camr. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it.
Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me.
Even though this is season 6 on UA-cam I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 6 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience as a captain in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.

Virtually all of that plastic comes from the streets of big coastal cities. When it rains, all of the garbage on the streets get taken out to sea in the rivers, canals and sewers. Until this runoff is cleaned up, you’re wasting your time trying to pick it up. You can clean your own beach for awhile, but more garbage will always come back.

Respect & tolerance for all religions you say? maybe you should ask West Papua on how Indo treats them, (current time) about the torture, killings, and jailing of locals just for raising the West Papua flag, not to mention the 24/7 harassment and discrimination of the West Papuans and also ask East Timor how Indo treated them with torture, killings, forced sterilzation, genocide, of the locals plus murder of Australian journalists. But wait theres more, Aceh province, where they recently whipped and stoned a couple for "adultery" and when the tsunami hit that region Australia sent aid and the local Imans sent their people in to lecture the locals to make sure the locals were not "contaminated" by Westerners. Want more? Indo is home to some of worst terror groups, especially towards the Philippines side and most of these groups are tolerated by those in power. There is so much more but I will keep this brief. So, no, this is not and example for the rest of the world.

To give you some perspective of what that room on the beach would cost in IDR - "Indonesian Rupiah." So 400000 IDR would equal about $25 USD. That's amazing!

Where you are - 95%+ of the plastic pollution comes directly from Indonesia + the discarded fishing nets, ton after ton lands on Australia's northern shores.

To answer your question why 270 million people live in indonesia and only one person have sailboat, i think in jakarta i see a couple of sailboat owned by indonesian too, sailboat classified as a luxury things in here, that an easy tax target by the gorv, the luxury tax alone can cost you around 75% from your sailboat price, and another bla bla bla tax maybe up to 120% from original price, and if you have that money the procces to register in indonesia is an abosolutely complicated things to do, better to register in langkawi i think

I will never be able to sail the places you are going, disabilities are no fun, but I still live aboard my sloop in Oregon on the Columbia River, and I am good with that. At least I can see these places through you. Thank you for sharing your adventures.

Nasi Goreng - Fried Rice. (nasi = rice, goreng = friend). Nasi Goreng can come in a variety of versions; usually it's with chicken, or egg, often contains a little shrimp paste too for flavor. You can also get Nasi Goreng Setan (Satan's Fried Rice, which is idiotically spicy - it's wonderful). Try all the food! :D

In the USA we have lots of recycling centers.Once a year I bring my aluminum can’s and plastic bottles to the recycling center and get about 175$ in return, so it pays to recycle here lol.

My Wife and i where in Jakarta, Bali, Timor Leste, Brunei and Kota kinabalu in Malaysian Borneo, in January. Bali was totaly overcrowded by Australians. But Timor Leste was nice and also Kota Kinabalu are the places i realy want to go back to. I think Indonesia, east of bali is an area stil not discovered by turists. If you dont need Sheraton or Hilton standard, but can appreciate the some watt simpler life, it is absolutely wonderfull. You also get a lot for your money in Indonesia, spesialy in rural areas. I wish i could go back, but it is so far away from Norway.

You know the beach you showed in your broadcast, used to look the same, when I was a child growing up in, Hawaii. But not anymore. That was back in the 50’s & 60’s era. That’s was just before the tourist boom in the late 1950’s and really boomed in the Jet age of the 1960’s. That’s when the explosions of building super high structures on the island of Oahu took off exponentially. Then by the end of the, 1980’s the change and pollution just overwhelmed Oahu and Maui. Appreciate you sharing these beautiful geography. The sweet water natural artisan wells have been destroyed on the island of, Oahu. The State has capped and drilled into those naturally bubbling springs the used to gush from the ground and over the rocks. It was the best water you could ever drink in your life. Unpolluted clean and crisp with almost a healing effect. Aloha and Mahalo. 🌺🌸🌴❤️🇺🇸
