It was on that afternoon when it all had started, as a light sun shower had just passed us by. And when we were sitting out, nearby the ocean, we got up and ran across the wet asphalt. Our eyes adjust, in the shadows of a dark beat-down warehouse. We stare up high, and run about to find a place to hide away from the rain. You were... humming a song to yourself, (it) wasn't falling on deaf ears, though I'd never heard the melody. Singing... with such a softness in your voice, (so) quiet that it nearly fades, as it disappeared into silence. On our car drive back home, from the city's downtown We got caught in a pretty bad traffic jam And what we had both talked about, as the highway cleared up I'm sure you don't know if you can remember it either. The radio... told us of the tragedy about a person we don't know And as it goes... (It) plays the random ballad of a boring person You were... humming a song to yourself I still don't know where it comes from (It's) just helplessly flowing around inside my brain I try... to say something to light the mood, and search for words that never come, but like your song they all just fade away. You were... humming a song to yourself. (I) still don't know where it comes from. (A) melody I only heard from you. Still the... things we keep and things we can't, the things we try hard to protect, In the end it's just a small difference. You were... humming a song to yourself, (it) wasn't falling on deaf ears, though I'd never heard the melody. Singing... with such a softness in your voice, (so) quiet that it nearly fades, as it disappeared into silence.
from the footage alone i'd say it's something different, maybe closer to the novels? idk haven't read them. can't really see something like BPP coming out nowadays, hell i'm not sure how it came out then... but the new one looks good anyways
+Gustavo Mazuroski Gonzalez The new one I believe follows closer to the novels. Where Boogiepop Phantom took place somewhere around the middle of the series's storyline, the new one will start with the first book's plot, albeit with a more modern setting from the looks of it. Hopefully it will continue to adapt more of the later novels should the show does well. Personally, I'm super stoked because Kensuke Ushio (A Silent Voice, Ping Pong The Animation) is composing the show :D
Amo bastante esta canción, en especial la intro original con la animación barata que dependía de vídeos reales, Bogiepop phantom es un anime raro pero me encanta
i actually hear this song before watching the series, it´s a nostalgic song to me because i listened to it a lot when i was in my second to last year of college, i associate a lot with that time when you are looking for interships like crazy ,not really sure what will be of your life in a year or so when you are out of college, the feeling of incertainty (specially considering it was shortly before the pandemic) but at the same time the positive feelings talking with my friends gave me , man Suga Shikao has such a........conforting and emotive voice.
Shikao Suga, the name of the song is Yuudachi and apparently it's from an album called Sweet. I couldn't find any working link to download the album and it's not on Spotify, if you manage to get it please let me know!
22 years watching this masterpiece...never gonna get tired
It's a timeless classic

Reading the lyrics, listening to the song, is just too great. Also with the beautiful light novel cover art too.
This song has become one of my FAVORITE anime OPs!
Let's hope the new anime is a worthy successor to the great original!

It's great. Check it out if you haven't already!
show is fucking lit 2 episodes in. that dark atmosphere is like no other in anime. it makes you really cave in into your seat.
Brings back memories of late nights watching boogiepop phantom
Wow! I've forgotten this jewel. 😍😍😍
I was a child of 10 years when I saw this anime.
Having this video alone with double lyrics, gets you a subscriber.
Amo bastante esta canción, en especial la intro original con la animación barata que dependía de vídeos reales, Bogiepop phantom es un anime raro pero me encanta
This song slaps too damn hard!!!!
Still a funky masterpiece. Funkadelic baby.
Awesome work
La cancion es demasiado hermosa
Thank so much
Algo melancólico y tan elegante, es perfecto.
El poder del jazz funk y de suga shikao uwu
no opino yo que es melancólico, es muy bonito y relajante personalmente, casi lo opuesto exacto del serie pero se cabe muy bien
Thanks for the upload!!
I love this ost, is just superior

What is this anime online radio ?
Probably a UA-cam radio like the Lofi/relax beats
Actual song from early 1990s, became an anime soundtrack nearly a decade later
