I hope john is doing well. I have used this video to string up my telecaster many times. Thank you, John!
This man handles a guitar properly, with authority and care.
its a thing of beauty. doesnt even use a string winder.
Jackson Langford I love the people that actually use a drill 😂
thanks, he's my hero for 2 mins
Love telecasters.
I wish it was as easy as this on a Squire Fender Affinity Telecaster, really difficult to work out how to do it, that's how I ended up here looking for help. In the end I got it done with the help of my teacher.
Ur awesome .. Thanks

Ok, so let me ask this. When changing from 9 to 10s do I have to set up the guitar after?
I can't believe I didn't know about the hole in the middle of the tuners before. I was having nightmares trying to wind the E and B strings on. Great no-nonsense video. 👍
My problem too !
Ye, that is how I do mine with the stretching part, lots of videos don't show that. Thx
Thanks John! Your kind demeanor and gentle but effective method of conveying information truly cements your status as the Bob Ross of guitar maintenance.

(I’m being sarcastic, ofc)
Hi John. I'm in the process of re-stringing my Tele and I fortunately I found your video. Thank you for the video - It was nice and clear and easy to follow and I'm sure I will get a much better outcome having now learned the correct technique from you. Cheers, Ray (Australia)
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. I bought my first electric guitar Telecaster Vintera 50 and was a complete noob as to how to restring my guitar and thanks to your video I now know how to do it.
thanks
always had mostly sgs
all these years later i forgot ...
love this tele i just got
Thanx 😊
Just got a new Tele (squire version) but it came with fender strings ... yuk... so this has been super helpful
thanks for watching and glad that it was helpful!
The way he pre wrapped the string around the tuning head was some G shit. I'd be there forever trying to do that and he did it so casually 🤣
Yeah, right. They really brush over the 40 year guitar tech experience because it is not this easy LOL
Now that's how to string you guitar ! Fast , easy and correctly . Thanks for showing the correct way to easily string a guitar . 🎸
Glad it was helpful!
perfect video
Thanks for watching, glad that you enjoyed it
Buy yourselves a 'Stretcha." It’ll save your fingertips and help to bring your strings up to tune in half the time. Cheap too. No, I’m not a paid advocate…just a user;)
This is my first time with this style of tuners. Can't get the B-string to start. Pops out when I wind.
Why. Just why can't they have the normal holes in the machine heads like Gibbo and everyone else. These are a ****ing nightmare to wind.
Muchos gratias - you saved a whole load of hassle👍🏼🙂
Happy to help
Thanks John! I finally know how to stretch my strings! Game changer for this old fool!
I just bought my first Telecaster -- and just happen to have a set of Nanowebs sitting in a different guitar's case.... Thanks!
thanks dad
For someone with pain in the ass non-replaceable-without-drilling old style tuners, this is the best video on youtube.
Great video! I am no longer afraid of changing strings haha thanks a bunch.
Wonderful video - thank you :)
Nice beard
i like the idea of doing each string individually.
I have a 52 fender telle it's #1 American vintage fender telle it's ben helping me sound great
Careful dude you might pull a muscle flexing so hard
Bruh, i cut the high e string to low
i dont understand what im doing wrong. I've been trying to follow this guide exactly as shown and keep on ruining the strings as i try to wrap them and they slip out. if anyone can please help me out it would mean the world. im beyond frustrated and keep wasting strings !!
You can do a single pre wrap around the tuner to ease some of the slack
I notice you didn’t do the thinnest string?
Very helpful and easy to do. Me and my 1958 Tele thank you very much!!!
Thanks for the vid!
Can you do the high E please?
Funny, I just bought Elixir strings for my Telecaster yesterday!
Thank you for that, I’ve just bought a 10 yr old Telecaster and am just about to restring it.
Thanks for watching, we're glad that it was helpful. Enjoy your new Tele!
Really a great vid. Might not get kudos, but soooo helpful

You're welcome!
This was a great video. Super easy. Thanks!
Just recently purchased a 2nd hand squire telecaster
It's a great guitar and In great condition however there are no holes in the back of the body to remove the strings
I can't find out how to remove the strings to change them
Hi, we suggest that you contact a local luthier for assistance. Thanks for watching and congrats on your new tele!
@@ElixirStringsMedia
All sorted
They are top loaded through the back of the bridge 👍
Thanks alot John, just bought a tele, my first with classic tuners. I've been spoiled with locking tuners, your video was a big help!
Worked perfectly, thanks
that's slick man, been playing teles nearly 35 years & still caint change ma strings! now i know!
best video on that
I don't trust many people with my guitars, but would happily let John work on mine
I thought it would be the Siouxsie and The Banshees guy.
Perfect thanks John.
2" past the tuner. Thank you!
what is the small metal tube called which the string goes through in the body? thanks.
The name of that part is called a Metanewalogeoghramite. On Telecasters, turn them over, and put your strings through the Metanewalogeoghramites. Some Telecasters have very expensive Metanewalogeoghramites that need to be maintained four times a day in order to prevent corrosion.
@@RJ-lf8ex Thank you Steve. I've been waiting 4 years to find out. Since then the world had gone to shit but you have restored my faith.
Hey :) what cind of elixir strings? 009 , 010 ?
I need help :)
good video Sir
Thanks man this video helped me out.
whats with the weird shots at the beginning lol?
Excellent. Thanks!
Thanks for making this easy.
whoa, that was easy! awesome, thanks a million!
Carruthers is a true pro.
Brilliant, thank you
good tutorial, cheers!
Cool, but I would take all the used strings out first, then put the fresh ones in next, could be confusing. I have a 98 fender strat, just a thought
On older guitars, and always on guitars with floating saddles you should do one string at a time to keep the neck from getting shocked by the loosening of tension. As I said this is on vintage guitars where you might lift the fretboard or crack the laquer, binding and so on. It's not that confusing to remember six strings - just look at the ones you've removed!
There's a hole in the back of the guitar?!?! I guess ill trust you on they one.
Balithazzarr are you that fucking clueless
