i have an ot but i can't follow your hands and modes you're in. Do you have a thread @elektronauts or care to explain your transitions, setup. What you do with the korgs+mixer is obvious. i read that you used premade loops from daw. Have you already recorded the drops/transitions in the audio files?
lol how do you find out how to hook all the cables.... I have lots of gear no know how ugg... I have a kaossilator pro +, kaoss quad, korg kross 88 key, small mixer mackie 402, NI MK2, akai apc 40, focusrite 2i2...any help here would be greatly app.
It all depends on what you're trying to achieve with the setup. It's hard to say really! It could be cool to run your KP+ into the KPquad so you can touch two pads at the same time. Maybe run your korg Kross into the KP+ so you can record some short loops of your playing, then mix output your mixer into your audio interface and mix it all up with ableton and your MK2. There are so many possibilities! What exactly do you want to be able to do with it all?
I like the idea of doing effects on the fly. I love synths so 80s sounds with techno beats or ska. when I push a sound I want to tweak it ... I have ableton live 9 suite and komplete 8 ultimate and logic pro 10 but im not well versed in any of the three. I have never recorded anything but would love to learn I have and xlr mic but haven't used either. I've been playing piano for 34 years now but only playing synths for a few years. no lessons or training so its been fun and frustrating. but i guess to answer your question I want to play a clip using my apc 40 and use sounds effects processors kp+ and quad to overdub...I can't even figure out mk2 im so lost I want to create beats with the mk2 not presets and to be honest i don't even know if I have the right gear since it's all new to me. after using this stuff I feel my mixer is too small my macbook pro too OLD and my interface too small 2i2 focusrite, mackie 402 mixer, my sounds clip out alot. do i need a compressor? i'm overwhelmed and having OCD doesn't help
It sounds like you're overwhelmed with choices! I recommend getting to know one particular piece of gear very well before worrying about adding any more pieces to the puzzle. Once you understand one piece very well you can envision ways that it can be useful musically to you. I'd suggest the KP+ as a great place to start, as it's at the heart of what you want to do (touch and tweak etc) Play some patches on it, record sequences. Make a song just on the KP+ and learn how that works. Then when you're ready you could input Ableton/MK2 out through your 2i2 into the KPQuad, then in to the KP+, using a midi cable to synchronise tempo. So then you're able to choose where to create stuff, either on the KP+ or laptop, and have your Quad fx tweaks recordable to the KP+. A warning though that tempo synch with the KP+ can be a bit of a drama. Alternately you could have the mixer's output going directly into your KPQuad, then to the speakers - so everything that passes through it can be effected at once. Hope this gives you some ideas to get started out. Don't worry too much about the big picture, start with the small stuff! Good luck!
Great mix down! I see your Octatracks are in 16 beat mode. Do you ever go into 64 beat mode? I've always set mine up in 64 to have the fills come back around when linked with my MC-505 and to have longer phrasing. Very interesting. Thanks!
Thanks! Yes I do use 64 steps often - but it tends to be on the second OT which is for instruments. Often there will be a few tracks with less steps and a master step length of 64. Drums I tend to break up into smaller parts. I see how you're using it there, it's a good idea. At the moment if I want to trigger a drum fill I hold function enter out of record mode, which enables some one-shot trig extra drums. I might give longer patterns a go now. Thanks again :)
Those Octatracks seem quite versatile. I would imagine there is quite the learning curve too, Good track. How much time did you spend setting it all up?
They are amazingly versatile machines, I'm still learning new techniques on them and I've had them since 2013. Very deep learning curve at first, but once you "get it" it all comes together - and it's just a matter of figuring out HOW you want to use them. To convert a track I've written in a DAW takes about a day, and then more time to practice and develop cool performance ideas and techniques. Writing a track ON the actual boxes will take as long as it takes you to write a piece of music + a bit extra time.
The bass is U-he Diva x2 and Fl studio GMS. + effects such as Fabfilter Saturn, Izotope Trash, Voxengo Crunchessor, Bluetubes Valvedriver, Breverb and FL Parametric EQ2 (in no particular order). The lead is U-he Diva x 2 (Panned hard left and right) + Fabfilter Saturn, Parametric EQ2 and FL Convolver. I also used Blue Cat's widening gain to turn up the MID part of the signal.

thanks man yeah ocd sucks because things are too slow and too fast at the same time

This isn't "my style of music" but oh wait YES IT IS.
What are you using to create the samples? The percussion sounds great. I can't get that quality from my Kaossilator Pro.
fucking great !!
Do you have any of your music for sale? :)
Man, I love what you do. Where are you? Maybe we can collaborate?
+Ivan Cherednichenko Thanks for the support :) I'm in Australia, currently a bit busy for collabs but happy to listen to your work if you link me

so you have a song in FL Studio that you have written does it get changed up a lil as you bring over to the hardware side?
+ spades, a steep learning curve even, soz my pet hate is people who get phrases wrong, i appol buddy
what did you use to make the bass synth and lead?
The bass is U-he Diva x2 and Fl studio GMS. + effects such as Fabfilter Saturn, Izotope Trash, Voxengo Crunchessor, Bluetubes Valvedriver, Breverb and FL Parametric EQ2 (in no particular order).

ZipSnipe hahaha yes, it's been way too long since uploads. I'll be posting some little tips and more performances soon :)

В НЛО меньше кнопок ...))))
To be quite frank using not one but two! Oktatracks as mixers is a complete waste. The capability of this instrument surpass mixers by the thousands
lol bunch of lights like on christmas tree + winamp lol
lol if you say so ;)
John Connor Oh dude, you have no idea.
